He's excellent. Going to be world class. I love the way he routinely wins the ball back with a high press.

He's going to be one of the best defenders in the world at some stage, going to be great watching him develop over time.

Yeah, I'm on the wagon. He's absolute class, you wouldn't know people highlighted for a lack of experience, he's well composed, I don't recall many errors from him, at least leading to goals. Shaw, Blind, and Smalling yes, Valencia still isn't a natural defender, so I still give him some leeway.

Seems he's already the main man at the back too for Jose. Smalling and Blind will be fighting it out to be his partner depending if Jose sends Shaw straight back in.

Someone post the gif of his reaction after missing that shot later on in the game
Absolute tank though. A complete defender and looking a brilliant signing. Instantly comes in and becomes our leader at the back and best/most important defender by a distance.

Talk about adjusting to the PL. Can't think of many players (probably just my memory) coming from a foreign league and acclimatising so easily. He's bossed just about everyone he's come up against.

Nailed on to become the signing of the season for the whole league if he keeps it up.

There is no weaknesses to his defensive game. Even his passing ability is just

He's brilliant. I'd love to know what's he's thinking when he smacks the ball straight up in the air though. He seems to love doing it.

He's our best defender along with Shaw. Just needs to learn from Smalling on his Aerial game.

Probably to give time for everyone to recover.

What a beast of a player. My favourite signing of the summer so far.

Could be the best defender we have ever had. I can't quite get over how good he's been already.

Smalling is like nothing player compared to him and I rate Smalling.
Really have no words to say how much better he is than I expected.

There was a great moment today where he utterly mishit the ball (or something similar to that) today which gave Stoke the chance to attack, but he charged back right away and put in a superb slide tackle to make up for it. Big fan of him.

Called him the Ivorian Desailly when we signed him out of jest but bloody hell he's on his way to earning that moniker. I think he has the potential to be one of the best players we have ever signed.. one of those few players like Ronaldo/Stam who any team would welcome into their ranks as a first choice defender. For me there isn't a team in the world that wouldn't want a Bailly and to be able to say that so early in his career is an incredible testament to his natural ability and mentality.

Rare to see such aggressive mentality/football IQ/cultured passing/strength and speed/leadership.. in one defender. He's a special player.. I look forward to him retiring so I can start using him in drafts.

It's not just him who does it though. We seem to have a no nonsense approach to defending. Just clear it and regroup.
I think this one is different from simply clearing. He does intentionally float the ball up high sometimes rather than clearing it.

What's racist about saying African federations manipulate birth certificates?

Because its not all true. Should England be lumped in with other countries like Italy when they commit offenses like say match fixing? Both European countries right? How many countries do you think Africa has?

He's pacier then Vida, so he could potentially end up being even better. Long way to go though

He's not just fast, Smalling's top speed is probably not much worse, but he is ridiculously athletic in all aspects. He is very agile for such a big player and very nimble, which are two attributes even Smalling cannot boast. Physically, he has all the tools in his locker to topple pretty much anyone. Quite similar physically to Boateng perhaps?
