still gets no respect
Why is the guy who literally said we were favourites ahead of Liverpool 2 days ago and never mentioned Chelsea until everyone else broke they were after him considered reliable?
Chelsea suddenly started to advance their position on the 29th. That's why Matteo Moretto and every other reliable journalist outside of Nizaar Kinsella, Gastón Edul, and César Luis Merlo wasn't reporting this. On the 30th, every other reliable journalist started to report on this. Until then, United were indeed the most interested team whilst everyone else wasn't as advanced with Jorge Mendes. Why is the guy who literally said we were favourites ahead of Liverpool 2 days ago and never mentioned Chelsea until everyone else broke they were after him considered reliable?
No we weren’t. You’re just repeating what you’ve read from journalists like it’s fact. We don’t have any money to spend. We need a striker. We weren’t advanced to sign Enzo Fernandez for 120m euros this January like this guy has reported. It makes absolutely no sense.Chelsea suddenly started to advance their position on the 29th. Back to hoping somehow Bellingham or De Jong fancy a move to United again.
Just because we were the most interested doesn't mean we were that far advanced. Up until then, no team was really talking to Benfica, so their interest was based on their contacts with Jorge Mendes. At that time, United seemed the most keen, but once Chelsea got in touch with Benfica, that's when they basically got ahead of everyone else.No we weren’t. 130 million would place him as 4th biggest transfer ever.
Some company he has there. Will place himself between Coutinho to Barcelona and Felix to Atletico Madrid. Behind Felix is Griezmann to Barcelona, Grealish to City and Lukaku to Chelsea.
When you put it like that, makes it seem like a good deal! All flops
Neymar?130 million would place him as 4th biggest transfer ever.

Neymar?
Or is that not officially counted because he technically bought out his contract
Out of interest can you name the specific examples of players we've "binned off" after a season or two?
Do River Plate have a sell on clause?
Lovely hurling.Yep, 25%.
So, basically if they pay those 130 million and Kante isn't fit, they would still need someone defensive oriented to provide more cover? Because Kovacic is more of a ball carrier and b2b. There were some roumors about Rice in Chelsea as well which could work imo. But spending 130 million on Enzo and on top of that having to spend further 100 million to get the best out of him seems a bit questionable.
For what is worth, considering his age and mentality (bigger the stage/bigger the player type), I think his ceiling is extremely high. But same as you, have question marks whether Chelsea is a best fit for him.
Good player but not worth that much.
Lets hope he can handle the pressure.
oh definitely, same with us and Antony. It’s an obscene amount but at this point it’s probably best for me to ignore the fee and just enjoy watching him play. He’ll under a lot of pressure that’s for sure.
We do have Zakaria to be fair who has looked pretty decent whenever he’s started, which has granted only been 2 games.
It would be funny if it ends up like this:
- Jude to Madrid
- Enzo to Chelsea
- Declan to Liverpool
- Frenkie to Bayern
This place will lose its mind
People saying its a ridiculous fee...and it is. But £130m for a 21year old with maybe 14years left in his career and even if he flops large sell on value that looks to have it all to be world class.
No, on summer 2023 Rice still has 1 + 1 year left. West Ham has an option to extend for another year.As long as mad wallet like Chelsea and Madrid are not involved, Declan will not cost north of £100m.
It's probably more like £70-80m, around Aurelélien Tchouameni's price.
Even at that price, the brit-tax is still too much for me.
He's £50-55m player at most.
On summer 2023, he'd be left with 1 year left in his contract.
The lad seems to have good head between his shoulders, forgoing weekly wage for better prospect of trophies.
He'd be wise to choose his next destination for his peak career period.
He can force West Ham's hand to settle for his preferred club by treathening to run down his contract.
Salary of £150k-170 should do it for the new club.
How much would this put Chelsea's spend since Boehly bought them? £380m without any other additional signings in Jan? And 440m when you count Nkunku?
American sports owners run a for-profit enterprise so I would expect them to tighten the purse strings considerably at some point.
Unless I am missing anything else about this consortium, Chelsea fans should be hoping that this signing is a resounding success since there won't be another such spree for a long while.
I might miss something but extension must be agreed by both parties, right? No, on summer 2023 Rice still has 1 + 1 year left. West Ham has an option to extend for another year.

Doubt most would even care on here if Liverpool get Rice. The next best midfielder after those lot would be Mac Allister, who has bossed all over Rice when they've faced each other. Not to mention how sublime he was in the WC final.I might miss something but extension must be agreed by both parties, right?
So far, it has been reported that Declan rejected mutiple WH proposals for new contract.
It's apparent that he's determined to move.
Both Chelsea and United have been attributed with strongest interest.
But now Graham Potter seems to be pushing for Moises Caceido, that will make Declan's transfer seemingly redundant.
That will leave United, mind you Casemiro is already 30.
I'm just thinking that it would be funny if Liverpool pulls another "Cody Gakpo".
This place would have a meltdown.
We do have Zakaria to be fair who has looked pretty decent whenever he’s started, which has granted only been 2 games.
On paper Zakaria is a decent fit with Enzo, he's got those legs and defensive balance to make it work. It's just whether he's actually good enough... very untested player at this level. Kovacic won't be enough defensive protection to make an Enzo work especially in english football where transition kills.
@Jim Beam Yep Rice is someone who could in theory make it work - but similar to Zakaria above, these are all gambles in some respect and with Rice another big money transfer. Wonder if they can get Rodrigo De Paul from Atletico, he's someone who has fallen out with Simeone? could he be signed at a cutprice. Enzo flanked by RDP and Kovacic looks a pretty dynamic trio.
