Enzo Fernández | signs for Chelsea

I’d be very surprised if someone pays €120m for a guy with half a season in Europe and a good WC under his belt.
That’s the typical market now though. Just like In real life circumstances everything’s going up. Players are costing a bomb nowadays.

I’d argue it’s:
  1. ST
  2. RB
  3. CM
  4. GK
In that order but I agree Enzo is a stand out candidate we could move for this window the trouble is I think the relative impact of Enzo in the short term isn’t going to be enough to warrant spending so much on him now. As much as I’m a fan of his he won’t displace Casemiro now and I doubt would displace Eriksen yet.

I understand what you’re saying but I think we need to see what happens with the ST target before we spend summer budget.

I think we can find a bargain at RB and maybe even at GK, but ST and CM are just going to cost a ton of money. Better to sign 2 young, excellent players and take risks at backup RB and probably even GK considering Ten Hag wants a passing one and sometimes you can grab one on a free. Getafe's keeper is available on a free and he's 3rd among La Liga keepers on whoscored and 29 years old. I could live with that sort of profile at GK and another 10M-esque Malacia signing at RB if it meant we got Enzo and a proper #9 with 90% of the money we have.

Though come to think of it, we also need a CB, but selling Maguire to another Prem team should bring back 20M or so for a pretty good young backup CB.

I’m not sure it is. Obviously, a certain range of fees have gone up somewhat, but if you look at this list of most expensive fees, there aren’t that many recent ones with the same profile.

Obviously, Nunez is the main comparator and that may be a sign of the way things are going but I think the fees at the top end are usually for more established players.

Wonder if Liverpool have their takeover wrapped up and are trying to make some purchases before it’s announced and the prices for players goes up for them

That is exactly my thinking. Speaking to Liverpool friends, they are thinking the same and there are a lot of mad rumours about that club right now. I was dismissive of them up to now, but that Gakpo swoop has given me the jitters.

Also, I've not seen Klopp look that happy with life for a long time as yesterday post-match. Hmmm.

Does not seem a bad shout Sparky. Can't be us making the move for him as I'm reading everywhere we are skint. That only leaves Pool. Let's hope I'm wrong.

For £106m he can go to Liverpool. What a joke. He's barely worth half that.

We are skint. Absolutely not paying anywhere close to the quoted figure

It would be imbecilec of us to let him go to pool, utter idiocy.
Not really for that price, if they're willing to spend that much now for him - good luck to them. No chance that gets sanctioned before a takeover.

Of course they’ve received two £111m bids. In January.

I don’t care what he costs just get him. Special player.

Stop living in fantasy land and dumbing down our own ambitions while simultaneously sucking off Liverpool.

There is no way on this God's green earth that a club as fecking large as Liverpool would have a takeover done under the fecking radar and consequently start spending money. It's ridiculous and ludicrous. This is not football manager it's real life. Liverpool being taken over would be public news within minutes.

When on when will United get there act together and buy some of this potential direct from source instead of potentially dumping 10x their transfer free for 4 months employment with the likes of benfica. If we did bid which we wont , i would still find it hard to swallow 90m profit on potential to portugal.

I'm hearing similar from my Liverpool brother in law that the takeover is basically done. Obviously the rumours are spreading, but hard to imagine generally tight owners splashing the cash if they're looking to sell.

We have £30million in bank but will spend £111million on a CM? Sure.

Every single player on here is Liverpool, City or Chelsea bound.
