English cricket thread

I’ll stick my neck out now and say 100% in my mind the Aussie’s are batting again today.

Yeah, I'm pretty certain they will. England have to keep an eye on the forecast and if they think there'll be little play over the weekend they need to pretty much force a result tomorrow. They'll want to be in a position where 2 hours over the weekend is enough otherwise the draw will probably be the likeliest result.

They will just keep attacking here England, I think the decleration will depend on wickets, if they are only 5 down say at the end of play I would imagine they may give it a whack for an hour or so in morning or until we see wood and broad walking out to bat.

If they are 7/8 down I would imagine they will declare. They may declare in the morning anyway because there may be some showers around first thing.

Hasn’t that just saved Australia a lost review? That’s bullshit.

weird bit of umpiring for me. need to give a decision and let someone review.

Aussies slowing it down whenever they can and that umpiring review was a disgrace, especially in the context of the two LBW non decisions yesterday, specifically the Smith one.

feck sake, should only have one review left now

This over rate tells you everything about how Australia are going to bat as well.

Why does cricket allow the weather to dictate so much? There should be a reserve day in place if you lose a whole day to rain. Like use Monday if it’s meant to be drier.

If it rains for 3/4 consecutive days then fair enough call it quits but it just seems unfair to deprive fans of what looks like another great test.

Early starts is where they should begin with the rule changes. It seems ridiculous starting when they do if the forecast is rain at 12:00. If it's dry, start earlier to get the overs in / catch-up on lost overs from the previous days.

They should also allow later play if the batting team are happy with the conditions.

Forecast tomorrow getting worse and worse now :(

I'd genuinely consider declaring tonight,.

I do find the unadaptibility of cricket to be a bit annoying. Like, if you know you're going to lose a lot of time for the weather, why not start earlier/finish later on other days? take shorter lunches/tea etc.. and yeah reserve days would be great, but might be an issue logistically I guess.

We need to go into T20 powerplay mode with 8 wickets left. We can have a lead of 100 and still get an hour at them tonight.

I think England for about 75% of the series have been the better team. The 25% for Australia came in sessions where wickets were thrown to them in clusters preventing the English batting total being what they should have got. Turning the first two tests from what should have been victories into losses because we did not leave everything out on the field batting wise. This hopefully touches 400 at least and demoralise the Aussies.

The weather's going to ruin this isn't it? We'll have to pretty much bowl out Australia before tea tomorrow and get the vast majority of the chase done before close I think.

I am the first to be negative when we aren't playing well so gonna give them credit. Like others have said just be a heartbreaker if the weather ruins this test match

If weather wasn't as issue we look like we could score 5 or 6 hundred here and bat them out of the game tomorrow

Bookies still have the draw almost 2/1, they must be more optimistic about the weather than we are

The aim now should be to get the lead to 150 and start bowling towards the end of tomorrow and into Saturday.

Your timings are all over the place there mate. We will declare before lunch if we want a 150 lead

Great innings. Well played Crawley. Shame for him he didn't get the 200.
