English cricket thread

England are always liable for a collapse and looks like its one of those against fierce Indian bowling

Livingstone dismissal looks horrendous. WTF was he doing. Going across the line to Bumrah.

Him and Roys were total garbage.

The others have got out to really good deliveries/massive pitch movements at least... Stokes and Root especially.

Roys was shit but it happens a lot tbh and maybe a bit unlucky.

Livingstone if he could have stayed at his place could have played it comfortably , yet decided to pre meditate against Bumrah at 26/4.

Fantastic tactics from England to Rohit.

Best puller of the ball in world cricket.

England Lions having a better day (so far!). Limited South Africa to 318 on a flat Taunton pitch, now cruising along at 250/3 with 21 overs left.

Wow, they played SA off the park there. Impressive. I get this feeling we may see Duckett back in an England test side at some point. Seems like a McCullum sort.

Not the best start to Buttler's captaincy. Loses the 20/20s and then a horrible collapse today.

Will Smeed looks like some white ball opener if he keeps going like he has so far. Could definitely be in World Cup contention for next year.
He looked pretty uncomfortable facing Scrimshaw's pace in the Blast QF so good to see him start well against Nortje and Ngidi.

This game didn't have official status so technically he's still yet to make his debut in a 50-over match. Probably a sign of the future in that sense, he's not likely to play any with the current schedule and not really close to breaking through in red-ball either.

Mental watching that. After he's pulled the first 4 into the crowd, why the feck would you continue doing the same thing?

Sam Hain should be the next one to get into the ODI team. Averages over 50 domestically in ODs.
I think the next ODI opener will be based on replacing Roy as the all out aggressor, so T20 being the better indicator. Salt is the obvious choice in that role but Smeed scores at a few clicks quicker than Hain which will likely be decisive for the spot behind Salt

Jennings, 300 not out (414 balls).

Does that qualify for Baz-Ball? He'd be a better pick than Crawley.
Surprised to see he's only just turned 30, thought he was a few years older than that. Certainly should be considered for the Pakistan tour given his record in Asia, bowlers get changed depending on conditions so why not batsmen?

I guess it should be noted that Somerset are missing most of their regular bowling unit, from what I've seen it looks an incredibly flat pitch as well. Still expecting them to collapse to an innings defeat though :nervous:

Any reason why he hasn't played a list A match for over 3 years?

2020 edition was cancelled. 2021 he was playing The Hundred. This year again The Hundred is clashing with the one day cup.

List A/ODIs is a dying breed unfortunately.

England can't get going in white ball Cricket this summer. Been a while since we've said that.

India are a very good side though

Three straight balls getting three of England's best batsmen.

The Root review was crazy - about as straight plum LBW as you're likely to see.

Best bowling attack in the world at the moment I'd say.

Australia would run it close but yeah, India is a very good bowling side. It makes it more frustrating that they have not needed to be that good today. JB, Root and now Stokes have fallen to the simplest of deliveries.

That's a tad simplification. Chahal turns a lot so that's why the straighter one is dangerous. It's not like as if he bowls straighter ones only.

There hasn't been much turn and the three-wicket balls were just mistimed by the English batters. There was no turn or mystery in the deliveries...you can't miss straight balls.

Ok mate.
