English cricket 2015 - NZ, The Ashes, Pak and SA

So BT have just signed a deal to secure all Aussie home matches including the next Ashes series.

fecking joke, I can't stand BT. Give me Sky's 'bad for consumer' monopoly every day, it was far cheaper.

NO!!!! that will probably mean more Shane Warne on channel 9. He's a fecking boofhead bogan on channel 9.

Why can't Siddle go to Bangladesh? That's Warne opinion, even if Siddle doesn't go to Bangladesh it doesn't mean Siddle should be cast by the wayside, he has plenty of years in him and I think it's a poor message to send to Siddle to have clog around all series and then not play him at all. Warne pretty much said he doesn't think Siddle will ever play again, which on the evidence of this test is pretty stupid.
Oops, my bad I thought they announced the squad but it was the ODI/T20 squad. For the record, that is the first time I've seen Siddle bowl genuine swing on a good length for a long time. He was only good for getting Pieterson out down here in the last series.

This. I doubt many have BT, and, with them spending so much, I can see them crashing back down to earth in a few years time.

Desperately seeking a left-arm quick I think, very en vogue especially in white ball cricket.

Isn't Willey already in the team?

I've seen a fair amount of Topley for Essex. He's got good variations (as does pretty much every young bowler in the country scene at the minute) and decent control so I think they see him as a death option. I just don't think he's quick enough, nor skilful enough yet.

Forgot about Willey :D, think Bayliss definitely wants to have a look at a few players though.

Fancy flying the whole way round the world to bowl 1 over and get smashed for 19 off it.

Still can't believe we didn't take Stokes to the World Cup

He didn't deserve to go.

I'm sure they'd loved to have taken him, but the Ben Stokes we are talking about was going for 10 an over and could barely get a run. He didn't earn his spot.

I'd still have Stokes in ahead of Bopara, my memory is a bit sketchy mind. He had a shocking tour of Sri Lanka after not doing too great vs. India yes? But after the World Cup was done he got a chance in the West Indies and then Fabrarce stuck him up the order vs. New Zealand in May and he scored a 100? Stokes strikes me as a someone who thrives under responsibility and under Moores he wasn't given any. I mean before today Stokes had only bowled 11 overs in 8 T20I's.

Bopara didn't play a game did he (if he did it was the dead rubber at the end)?

They picked Woakes as the all-rounder which was fair enough, he was an absolute gun with the new ball in Sri Lanka and the Tri-Series, but then they made the ridiculous decision to give Broad the new ball and make Woakes first change on the eve of the tournament.

That decision, and the one to shoe horn Ballance into the side at 3, cost us dearly.

I know Stokes is a great athlete but I don't think he's that good to block the ball intentionally with his hand and turn his body at the same to get in.

EDIT: Looks like he's trying to protect himself.

Good decision to give him out. Hart would've been proud of that save.

Have bowlers forgotten the Yorker?

Edit: never mind. Starc showing how it should be done. Full. Straight. Simple.

As if people can see that in real time, with the ball launched at him, and think 'yeah he's made a conscience decision to stop that' there's just simply not enough time.

I think Stokes knew what he was doing. Even though it all happened so quickly, you still think instinctively in those situations, and his head was telling him to protect the wicket. My $0.02.

Just saw the video. It was clearly out IMO.

Stokes seems like such a meat head. Someone who you prod ever so slightly mentally and he loses his mind. Also thought it was out as well but pretty unlucky. Where has Jason Roy been? What a classy batsman.

Taylor though, christ. The guy charges and almost swings himself off his feet every time he goes on the attack. Weird batsman.

George Bailey saying it wasn't self defence because the ball wasn't hitting him. Aussies

Had missed it earlier but it was right decision to give Stokes Out for me.

It seemed that he was instinctively protecting his wicket, not his body in this occasion.

At full speed, can't see how Stokes could be given out. Slow it down, and I think he's out. Not sure Morgan should be claiming the moral high ground though.

Could be a good evening of entertainment on the go here.... England have just brought up their 200 after 32 overs and only 2 wickets down. With 108 balls and 8 wickets left I would hope to see around the 350 mark set here!

I'd love Roy to really push on one of these days. Looks a tremendous player, just needs a really big score to cement his place. Hales' ODI career so far, by contrast, has been a huge disappointment.
