Not really when you consider the likes of Terrell Owens, Alex Rodriguez, and Kobe Bryant are tremendously skilled athletes and had they been playing organized football since age 5 and developed in Europe they'd be world beaters. That's quite apparent.

exactly. that's more of the issue. if the the current US team was say in france or holland since the age of 5 and played football nonstop and developed in france/holland, they'd be technically and tactically better.

so in the end, its not an athlete/athletic prowess issue.

You still have to have possess a top skill and/or have "it" to become world class which most US players do not. The best "it" athletes choose baseball, gridiron football, and basketball. In virtually all other nations the best athletes play football.
