England vs Bangladesh

I hope he never learns. He is fine the way he plays his cricket.

You are right, but there will always be that nagging doubt about what he could be if he rained it in sometimes, didn't get out going for big boundaries when in the 90s

Is Petersen actually any good or just a SA reject?

He doesn't seem capable of putting any sort of score together and I'm getting a bit fed up with all the praise he gets all the time.

He scored 64 today, seems a bizarre thing to say on the basis of today's score. And if you've watched him before today, you'd know he's class.

England 420 all out. Shakib Hasan took 5 wickets incl a miracle ball which got Bell out.

Tamim off to a flier. And playing some beautiful shots. 44-0

England won the toss and went to bat first, so ideally they would have wanted 450 runs...we would have been over the moon to get them out for 375...so all in all, even stevens at the end of their innings.

It is really important, Bangladesh get a decent 1st innings score, we always put ourselves in these huge holes, and are fighting an uphill battle.

Whatever the openers get, out middle order have to get us some runs...

66-0. Tamim playing spin and seam equally well, is on 42 and has already played some sparkling shots. Looking good.

Yes, well Ashraful and Hasan are both due an innings and I also expect the lower order to do well. Lets hope for 350+

Another half century for Tamim!

Bangladesh 96/0 at tea

This middle session has completely gone our way, but we need to concentrate till the end of play. In the 1st test, we threw away a potential match saving position by losing our heads towards the end of the day. We need to make sure, the same does not happen again.

We have the advantage that, England won't get the 2nd new ball, so hopefully that will ease some nerves.

Superb start, but I'm waiting for the collapse at the moment. The way this pitch is turning, Swann is sure to hurt us in the next session.

I can tell you are a true fan and follower of our cricket team. Even when things are going great, we are fearful. I don;t even know why I bother, I never enjoy watching us live, I'm always too nervous.

Tea: 96 -0. Tamim flying at 65 not out. He is a genuine world class talent

Don't want to sound ungrateful...they did after all put on 120 odd for the 1st wicket.

But what a stupid shot. You can see the trap, why play the shot?

I wonder if that is the break England needed.

Damn.

Some truly fecking grim batting there from Kayes. They put two men out on the hook and banged it in short, so what's he gone and done? He's played the fecking hook.

FFS.

They've really piled some pressure on now. Both players are looking a bit nervy, and Tamim looks like he too might succumb to their plan to get him caught playing the hook.

Yeah, he's gonna get out to a rash shot now. Also Swann all of a sudden looks like Warne, getting a ton of turn and bounce.

Come on Bangladesh!! Can see Tamin getting another blockbuster century on the traditionally fast Old Trafford wicket. With ball coming quickly onto his bat, he certainly has the ability to make another big score in this test!

Thank feck he brought up that ton.

With Swann bowling the way he is, Jahurul will be out very soon I think. With his lunging front foot technique he hasn't got a chance.

Ashraful might stick around a bit longer. He's not bad against spin.

Aye, he had the air of a man who'd basically decided his job was done. Still, wonderful innings.

The thing is, with Jahurul and Ashraful at the crease, we might be looking at 5 down by stumps.

and battling to avoid the follow on?

We'll have no trouble reaching 219 with the batting we have to come, but I did have some hope that the England bowling might continue to be woeful in the sunshine, and that we might notch up a rare 400, or a 350.

ashraful and Hasan need to deliver with the bat. Need a 100+ partnership. Both are due an innings, esp Ashraful, but then we all know he never delivers!

Shakib's batting in these situations has been awful in the last 5-6 matches. Shows a complete lack of maturity and leadership, and attempts shots like the one we saw in that last over.

It came off for him in the Dhaka test when he made 79 and 96, but at various other times he's got himself out and let his team down.

we will struggle to barely make 300 now, whereas with Tamim and kayes going, I was seriously contemplating 350ish. Which would have set things up perfectly, England would have to bat well to completely take the match away from us, and our bowlers could apply some pressure.

instead with one rash shot by Kayes, everything has fallen apart.

Captain Retard at it again.

he needs to come in after Mushfiq and Mahmudullah from now on. He can't be considered an all rounder anymore. He is good enough to be in the team solely for his bowling. Leave it at that, and let's stop pretending he knows how to bat. This has been going on in all forms of cricket for the last 6-9 months. He simply refuses to graft.

these are the scores of the Bangladeshi batsmen in the 3-6 slot. That after the opening pair got scores of 108 and 36....fecking useless pieces of shit. Barely make 250 now, this potential score is having to be revised downwards every 10 minutes.

Absolutely spot on.

We also need to immediately cease this ridiculous practice of batting two club standard batsmen at 4 and 5, with two of our actual test standard batsmen at 7 and 8. What could possibly be the fecking wisdom in gift-wrapping the opposition two easy wickets and then allow them to attack our good batsmen with a world of pressure on them?

For feck's sake, now Shafiul's gone.

We might actually miss that follow on if we're not careful.

Matt Prior hasn't done us any fecking favours with his keeping today. He's stopped absolutely everything that's gone fine down the leg side.

We could have avoided the follow in if that last ball of Shahzad's over had passed him.

Wow, 216 all out after 126 for no wicket. That's some collapse. Tamim must be absolutely sick after the way he played.

Where was the umpire with his fecking light metre tonight then?

Shahzad's bowling at 90mph. I thought he was medium fast?! And Bangladesh clearly doesn't have rain clouds.
