England V India

2-1 to India. Nobody beats India in India............unless the match is fixed ;) Not sure the England bowlers will have what it takes to knock over the Indians on flat decks. Also with England looking very suspect against quality spin bowling this could be a hard series for them.

I think the pitches will spin but if other teams do it why shouldn't India? I reckon Pakistan got the Indian batsman into a false sense of security and then had a green top waiting for them, they knew the indians couldn't out bowl them and won the series. England created pitches ideal for reverse swing, they knew the Aussies didn't have bowlers who are experts at reversing the ball and that most of these Aussies hadn't faced the likes or Waqar or Akram so wouldn't have a clue how to play it. They won the series as well. A lot of people throw up a fuss about home teams creating conditions that favour them but it has been happening for years. Shouldn't happen but what can ya do eh.......
Well said Jazzie....

Regarding the point about england creating pitches for reverse swing against the aussies.I always thought reverse swing was caused by the condition of the ball and the conditons of the pitch ,weather etc to produce conventional swing, its the art of a bowler to get it going both ways so i dont really see how this could have been a great advantage against an aussie side which still had a very good pace attack.Just worked out that we out bowled them.

Atleast Jazzy seems to acknowledge the fact that teams prepare pitches to suit themselves. Its pretty simple.. usually the advantage is minimised against teams having similar areas of strength. For example our benefit from turning tracks against a Pakistan team with Mushtaq Ahmed and Saqlain Mushtaq, would be far less than against the English.

I was ripping the piss out of your poor use of English...perhaps a tad too subtle.

Anyway, the word you were searching for and almost found was 'faking'.
I am gutted. How can anyone have a typo on an internet forum :(

I just realised this is about to start.

Cook opens, Panesar and Blackwell play, no Udal thankfully.

England won the toss and are batting first.

Who is Wasim Jaffer?

Only 4 bowlers for India, the two spinners Harbajan and Kumble, the two quicks in Pathan and Sreesanth, who makes his debut.

Poor crowd attendance, 'kin part timers.

Doesn't seem to be much help there for the bowlers.

You watching it are you?

Thought Sky didn't get the rights?

They got them in the end.

Pathan struggling with no balls.

Strauss hammering him.

17 runs off that last Pathan over.

Good start by the England batsmen.

Spinners coming on 40 minutes in, now's the real test for England.

Strauss for the second time today almost chopping onto his stumps.

4 down.
Flintoffs gets two outside edges against Pathan.. both go where there wasnt a slip. Been a good contest between bat and ball this game. Crutial period. Flintoffs the danger man.

I've forced myself out of bed to watch this.

Gilo's talking in the studio.

There's nobody there. Amolbhatia's been banging on about how passionate the Indians are. Where the feck are they?

On a more positive note, I'm pleased to see that Udal's got the axe.

They only came to see a full strength England team, when that wans't possible they didn't turn up.

Who wants to see 6 hours of boring Indian spinners on doctored pitches?

They're only interested in the one-day game, like stupid children.

If I was batting against Harbhajan Singh i'd really get an urge to run up to him and pull his bundle of hair out and laugh in his face.

I know I shouldn't but still....
