England V India

Why did Dravid put us into bat?

A great day for England, a major mistake in Rahul's interpretation of the pitch. In terms of performances, Strauss needed that long overdue century- he also seems to be the fittest player on the Englands side. He was lucky with a coulple of LBW decisions IMO. Shah looked more like one day material.

Munaf Patel had all the batsmen in a panic with the short stuff, very unlucky not to pick up a few wickets...he should be awesome on fast tracks. Colly doesn't look like having an answer to Bhaji. A lot rests with Freddy.

England should get 500. Which will give us a great chance to win.

And why is Srisanth pronounced SHriSHanth?

Manuf will do well in England. He's looks a good bowler.

I think it should be Shri-Santh...

Shri is a title given for an achievement - probably his families has achieved something worthwhile in the past.

With Anderson in for Harmison, Dravid should have fancied a bat, whatever the state of the pitch.

If England win this match it will be the greatest recovery since Jesus rose from the dead.

I see. The Indian bloke was pronoucing it. . .Shri SHanth. Which I presume was wrong.

I still can't believe Dravid put England in to bat.

It could be the worst decision since Nasser opted to bowl in the first test v Australia.

What on earth was Dravid thinking puting them into bat, taking a leaf right out of Ricky Ponting's captaincy book there.....Good stuff by Strauss as well, he needed that century badly.

England dominating on a flat track but they have had problems with Munaf Patel who looks a good bowler. Can't believe the stupid Indian selectors didn't pick this guy earlier! If he stays on the right track he has the potential to be a good bowler, reckon he would do really well on a English or even Aussie pitch. The pitch would give him a lot more help. If the guy has any sense he will come and join a county team and get some experience here. Too many Indians fail abroad because they have never been exposed to conditions like we have here. It did the likes of Waqar and Wasim a world of good coming here so I hope he does come here. But he might stay in India for fame and more money through advertising and all that.

Irfan Pathan was rubbish as I expected him to be today. The guy is taking the piss with how slow he is bowling, some balls were below 70mph and Kumble can usually get upto 60mph! When there is swing available he can be devestating but otherwise is total rubbish. He has changed his grip and is suffering as a bowler because of that. I remember watching him against the Aussies back in 2004 and he was sending reverse swinging balls which were cutting the likes of Langer in half in at 89mph and I find it hard to believe he has lost so much pace. His batting is now much better but he needs to sort his bowling out if he wants to be considering a top allrounder. Harbajhan also needs to get his act sorted as well.

Yeah, that lad Patel looks a good bowler, right on line, bit of reverse swing, very good yorker. He looked absolutely knackered at the end of the day though and I think he'd only bowled about 15 or so overs.

He bowled 18 which is a decent amount for a fast bowler. Also bowled almost 40 overs last week so not suprised he is feeling a bit tired! Also was quite hot in Mumbai which doesn't help at all

I do think that he needs to find a line and length and use the yorkers and bouncers as suprise deliveries. He bowls them very well but sometimes you almost expect him to bowl it but if he can find a good line and length and get a bouncer and yorker in every couple of overs I reckon he would get more reward for his effort.

Jaffer out - 24-2

No better time than now for the master to deliver...

Sachin out - 28-3

Sachin struggled to find any rhythm - India deep in trouble.

Leading the series 1-0, I reckon India made two crucial mistakes, batting second and playing with five specialist batsmen instead of the usual six.

Both of the decisions were made with attack in mind..and I for one don't mind that at all.Its high time the way we play the game here changed...and now it is, for the better as far as I can tell.

The decision to bat second backfired yesterday but the bowlers redeemed themselves today and if we had had any fielders on the ground the English would've been bowling by lunch at us.And our 5 batsmen have no excuse for putting up the show they have this series...they are all of the highest class(except Jaffer) and should have scored many more against their depleted attack.
