England V India

It's a good sign that British Asians are playing the game. If we're going to have to put up with them, the least they could do for us is learn how to turn the ball.

Good day for us today..we should bowl them out in 15 overs or so tomorrow..hopefully.

The bowling didn't seem anything extraordinary today to me to be honest. The bowlers kept a decent line and length but mostly IMO it was because the English played for the wrong line...Your top order is seriously very weak.Depending on the mongy South African and Flintoff in the middle order isn't a very comforting thought..At least when you had Hussain or Thorpe you could count on one to stay in there.

Your keeper's shit. That other kid you got last time you came was even more shit...so I doubt there's anyone else giving Jones competition for his place.

Pathan was decent today..looked average in the morning but that delivery to Cook was something special.

The pitch looks good to me...I suppose we could have a result.

By the way, the whole of the last page was very funny.Keep up the whinging.

Even Amol hasn't put in an appearance.

He's probably only interested in the pyjama cricket at the end of the tour.
Iv actually gone for very few cricket matches. Cant really afford to fly around the country watching the team can it? The Kotla had been closed down for quite awhile.. iv seen a couple of matches there, but really its a horrible stadium.(or atleast used to be)

Its pretty sad the state of test cricket here in the sub continent. One dayers seem to be taking more and more importance in terms of crowd support. I hate to see it, because test cricket is the more important version. Infact uptil a few years back it was quite excellent.. i remember the famous Calcutta test against the Aussies.. more than a lakh people packed in. Hopefully when we bat the turnout will get better.

It was a weekday.

People in India aren't essentialy wela like the British are they.

I thought apart from the early session, we bowled really well, considering how dead the track was. The discipline in line and length was surprising, but the biggest thing is that the two pacers did the job. Was really happy to see Pathan finally learning how to bowl in these lifeless conditions.. and particularly with the older ball.

I dont think this series is a forgone conclusion like some people seem are indicating. It would be a big mistake for our batsman to take it lightly.. but i do think as you say England need one technically very correct quality batsman. Like a Dravid or Tendulkar, to hold the innings together. Relying on agressive batsman like Peterson or Flintoff is too dodgy. And i really think we should play Piyush Chawla in the next test in place of Kaif.. he would really trouble these English batsman.

But test support hasnt quite been brilliant of late has it. Although if we are at a great position at the end of day 2 looking to bat for the most of day 3, i expect big crowds for that. Wish the sub continent would be less crazy over ODIs though.

The whole middle order thing has been something of a catch-22 for England. We badly miss a guy like Thorpe that can keep the innings steady, but at the same time we badly lacked somebody that would be willing to take on any bowler in any conditions. Pietersen does that. Unfortunately his style has as many negatives as it does positives. England need to find a balance in the middle order, but we don't want to have to go hat in hand to a guy like Butcher to come back, we need to look forward.

He's a plucky Indian fan who was posting in this thread. He pissed BR off elsewhere.

Just wrap it up now, I want to see how Panesar fares with the ball.

Hehehehe

Well in the game now, Colly was fantastic.

And shut up Rams, moaning fecker.

Big wicket for Hoggard as well picking up Sehwag, he saw the field set and tried to take it on, silly boy. Should see the Indian innings slow down in pace because when he is there they usually always go over 4 runs an over. Hoggard is choking them from runs as well so a good opening spell for him.

Top innings by Collingwood and Harmisson as well, 393 is a very decent score on this pitch and very good considering England's position yesterday.

Can he actually spin the fecker?

Monty is bowling well actually, could have had a LBW against Jaffer.
Still won't cause much trouble but I guess we won't be able to hit him all around like we normally do with other spinners.

The more they play tentatively against him, more confident he will get for the remaining series - play a few shots "Afridi style" to test his nerves/mentality...

Excellent.

A spinner who spins the ball.

I doubt Dravid play the big shot, Jaffer doesn't look good against spin anyway.
Bring on Sachin

Quality quote from the BBC website:

Flintoff appeals confidently for lbw but the major problem is that the ball hits the middle of Dravid's bat and not the pad, India's captain flicking his counterpart through square-leg for four.

Saw that.. pretty funny stuff.

England did really well in the morning. Thought this might happen.. TBH thats just how good the pitch is, take nothing away from the English lower order though. IMO that Harmison innings was a crutial one. Sehwag played a rubbish shot.. you could see it coming.. he does it so often its getting ridiculous. But well played Jaffer and Dravid. Still lots of cricket left, can go either way.. all depends on day 3.

Indians in surprise bottling shocker.

Chokers.

Knighthood for Colly.

Dont start.. in the last decade there hasnt been a lot that has mastered the art of bottling like your batting line up.

I think there will be a result.. it all depends on the first innings lead.. IMO it will do a lot for Bhajji and Kumble on the last couple of days. Even for the English spinners for that matter.

If there's one team more likely to bottle it than England, it's India.
