I thought before the game started Anderson should've played instead of an extra spinner he'll at least give you control of an end.

Brutal start for Hartley, but I'm not gonna jump on Stokes for not taking him off.Burning the reviews in the first 14 overs though is poor.

Couple of wickets early and it's game on again but an hr or two of what happened tonight its probably game over.

Yeah, I wonder if there's a model where we can get some developing players playing abroad from an early age to help develop their game in better conditions. You rarely get a top spinner from the southern hemisphere struggling in the UK so I don't see how they wouldn't benefit.
 
I missed all of England’s bowling, but obviously Hartley in particular struggled out there. But things could be completely different tomorrow, I still haven’t seen Hartley bowl but certainly Ahmed is extremely talented with a high ceiling.

Being honest most of what you have said I agree with,the Indian bowlers really took to Hartley. Such a pain that Bashir encountered this visa issue to rule him out of test
 
Two drops this morning killing us, and oh look - Joe Root is predictably our most dangerous spinner. Where was he last night!
 
Not a great knock from Gill. Should have gone early then a really soft dismissal to Hartleyitharan.
 
Bowled ok this morning, last night did the damage. Hartley has bowled 12 further overs to Roots 5? He's bowled fine but does not look threatening.

I don't get it. Need them out for a 100 lead max to maintain any hope of a comeback.
 
All 3 wickets to terrible shots tbh. England need to drop a spinner and play Root as an allrounder. Also bowl him more today!

The lack of spin from Leach and Hartley is mad. Jadeja isn't exactly known as a huge turner of the ball and he had quite a few turn square. Very concerning.

Anyway the likelihood here is an innings defeat now.

Yes although Gill should have been out once to a good ball and survived a very tight LBW off another.

If Root looks your best spin bowler = trouble.

It has the feeling of Indias strong looking lower order killing this game off later today.
 
One of the poorest captaincy spells by Stokes. Not sure i understand why he’s given Hartley such a big spell.

Foakes dropped a fairly regulation nick off Root, not a dolly but someone as good as him would expect to take it.

Then Gill skied one that should have been a sitter but Stokes didn't see it, landed harmlessly next to him...
 
Leach has hardly bowled this morning? Clearly England haven’t got their selection right (Dawson) and were they planning to start with Bashir? India are class mind mind, bowling, batting and their fielding’s not too shabby either.

Rehan looks very competent. Will be a very good bowler in few years I think. Rare to see a leg spinner inexperienced and with his control
 
Another bad shot. If we lose this game in the 4th inning our top order should be made to watch it on repeat. Terrible. We should be targeting 400+
 
Staggering how many times our spinners have beat the outside edge compared to India.
 
Too many half trackers from Rehan just after he started his spell excellently and took a wicket.

No control at all in this England attack, can't build any pressure. An hour away from game over.

As in a googly bowler. Rehan Ahmed is still learning his trade, ideally you’d use him now as a backup spinner. Leach is coming back from a back fracture, he’s probably not fit I guess.

May not be a popular opinion but Iyer is a wasteman in my eyes.
 
If we swapped bowling line ups this would be a cracking series.

Don't see it myself. The action is quite orthodox leggie, it's more Shane Warne than Kumble. His stock ball turns more than Kumble, and all leggies have a googly!

But each to their own.
