England Tour of India

Duckett really annoying Michael Vaughan on the BBC which can only be a good thing.
Tbf to Vaughan, Duckett was genuinely atrocious in that Siraj over.

Got three boundaries I know and will probably score big runs, but some of the slogs were tailender like

How he is this good with his technique and genuinely refusing to leave the ball I do not know.

How about 450? Were you honestly going into that innings thinking that they should score 500?

It’s a fantastic score on a pitch that is predicted to break up from tomorrow onwards.
Recovering from 33-3 to 314-4 with the way they were batting, I expected India to get much closer to 500.

I find Kuldeep's bowling really boring to watch

Puts in so much effort that it tires me out watching on tv, and then it turns disproportionately less to the effort visible

Already buzzing for arguments about Duckett when he chucks this away on 75.

Don't know if it's just me, but he's a bit of mental midget to me. Disintegrates when attacked. Seems England are doing the same.

Definitely is - it's rude but he looks like he's about to cry every time someone goes after him

Well done Ashwin. What a player.

England need to avoid losing wickets in clusters with the scoreboard pressure India have achieved.

So after putting on 300 for the loss of 1 wicket, you wanted more from that pair? Completely unrealistic. If you want to be harsh on anyone, blame the top three, you can’t have expected any more from the rest of the team.

Thoughts on how this test is going? England storming along, but I feel a couple of wickets and things can look completely different any time. India still look good for a win. Win, lose, or draw, England are great to watch and are a much needed breath of fresh air in test cricket.

Has the Indian management been spooked by the threat of England playing 4 spinners? The past 2 test pitches have been terrific, as good as you can probably get in India. You can get runs, but there’s also been something there for all the different type of bowlers. It’s made for a great spectacle. Also great to watch Bumrah perform in his home country.

I remember you said you wouldn't post about the pitches

Do you want him posting here or spamming thread after thread on the general? Pick your battles bro.

It seems more than a bit hypocritical to say that this is a good pitch(after complaining in every Indian home test thread about the pitches). Till now, this hasn't shown any indications of being a good wicket - we need to see how it plays out. The last pitch was also not good and some brilliant performances on both sides produced a result.

Being a good pitch isn't dependent on how many runs England make.

Ooooof we have not had any rub of the green with DRS in this series. How was that three reds!?*

*It clearly was so get on with it, but looked umpires call all day to naked eye.

Why not? They were set and in control.

I think it's completely balanced at the moment, which is what you want to see on the 2nd day of a test match.

Would have India slight favourites but only because of the two teams' ability rather than the scorecard atm. Root and Bairstow haven't had a good series so far at 4 and 5 so India will be hoping they can dismiss them cheaply. But if Root and Bairstow get big/solid scores, then 6-9 and arguably 10 can pile on runs.

If the scores are close after the first innings then England will fancy their chances. If they get a sizeable lead, will be interesting to see how India would respond. If say, England scored 550-600, would India look to score quick and go all out for the win, or would they happily try and play for a draw? I'd like to find out, as quite often it seems like England are always fighting from a deficit rather than taking the lead.

I thought I said I wouldn’t criticize the pitches if my memory serves me correct, but I’ll let you to dig the post out. Anyway, guess I’m just being racist again.

It's been very good natured in here so far lads try and keep it cracking.

So an England team in response to a very good first innings total by India at home have 35 overs to play out.

Are they 84-3?

No, 207-2. WTF.

Rohit's captaincy of Ashwin has been poor this series

Ashwin clearly looks the best bowler here for us here today, and he keeps under bowling him

I always think Ashwin looks your best bowler (bar Bumrah) and then am continually shocked when he doesn't get picked to play. Obviously Jadeja is a good bowler and a better batsman, but for me I'm picking them both anywhere other than on a pitch where it's swinging round corners. Jadeja is good enough to be called a specialist batsman in most circumstances though and a great fielder to boot.
