Though I assume you live in London? In which case you're absolutely fine, and you'll likely be absolutely fine in any major UK city where there is a large ethnic minority community living in proximity to white folk. Its mostly poor white folk in segregated areas where they're kicking up, and the violent ones amongst them will likely be in jail cells within the coming days.

I know I’ve said in this thread a couple of times already, but I’m hoping the scale of obnoxious violence and vandalism will have the effect of pushing the rest of the population away from that political alignment. As in, people who are casual anti-immigration are turned away from it by seeing these wankers on the rampage.

We were asked to stay at home this weekend by the police, community leaders and the Mosques, so the whole family and many others did. I've lived here for 3 decades and it's the first time I've actually felt unsafe, and it's home, I don't know anywhere else or have anywhere else to go to. I genuinely worry about the long term future here for my kids, it's probably a bit late for me to just pack up and rebuild somewhere else (and not like I want to leave my home, but safety comes first), but I would probably advise my kids when they grow up to leave.

Any ideas why we aren't seeing a stronger response from the authorities? More use of pepper spray, rubber bullets, water cannons, etc.? It seems crazy to me that the police have to endure having bricks hurled at them when these things are available to disperse crowds.

It looks like there’s at least two different type of violence kicking off here. You have the EDL/middle aged football hooligan/divorced dad energy, like yer man in the St George shirt. Exclusively white and blatantly racist. Nearly all with their faces uncovered.
But there’s a different demographics of kids in masks who just want to wreck shit. And I don’t think they’re all necessarily racist (or indeed, all white). Just bored, have been enduring a chronic lack of opportunities for years and want to blow off steam.
I don’t think the difference matters all that much in terms of who does the most damage. And it definitely takes the actions of the former to embolden the latter. But if we want to stop this stuff in the long term we do need to think about the two very different motivations of these two different groups.

Serious questions should be raised regarding whether Twitter should be banned in the UK, given that the app's owner is pushing these numpties and even saying civil war is inevitable. I am not surprised that he has turned off viewing other people's likes, as many of these racist profiles appear to have inflated likes. There's one terrible account called Barry that uses every racial slur in the book yet isn't banned.
