England in India 2021

I’m starting to think touring in these bubbles is having an effect on some of these players. That’s not to say India still wouldn’t have won but these players haven’t looked right for a while

I'm really surprised Stokes is playing these ODI's, looks like a ghost.

And yes agreed, India highly likely to have beaten us in all 3 formats regardless. We just don't tour well there.

Hope this win isn't used to justify our bogshit approach in the first forty overs.

He looks completely out of gas, but this ODI series is a bit of an afterthought to the whole tour. No fans, just 3 games, attention turning to the summer ahead. I bet a lot of the players would rather do without.

Reckon Stokes is there in part due to the logistics and hassle of replacing him in the team bubble.

To be fair they have a brilliant batting line up and probably even the best in the modern times.

And I am a fan of their approach.

But let's not rewrite history. They barely reached the WC semis at home by flattening the pitches after being in trouble, and then drew with NZ in the finals. Most people would correctly consider it the flukiest WC final win.

Make a 275-par pitch and/or conditions and I would expect them to finish behind India and NZ every time.

This ODI series is definitely the sort straw for the players involved. It must be a long few weeks in those bubbles and they know this series is far less important than the T20s and Tests.

What??

How did India do in that tournament by the way? Or the last world T20 come to think of it?

I think you got the rewriting history absolutely spot on , exactly what you did

I think root is essential to this ODI team. Should be playing - I know it's the bubble stuff probably keeping him out.

Maybe I should have worded that as present time. I don't think any other side right now has the most explosive batting line up in ODIs. India's is not bad, actually pretty good but still would have England's current ODI batting setup anyday.

The World Cup did not have flat decks and had a par score in the 250-300. Not sure what World Cup you’re remembering. They are the most powerful team on the kind of pitches we have now. Jury is out on other pitches which take spin for example but they’re very good at what’s prevalent.

Been a shit tour. Hasn’t been a single good game right from the tests.
Ipl is next and feels like it just ended a month ago, but it’s back again.

Lost 2 matches to England's 3 losses (and one tie).

Kohli is a poor captain and will continue to choke in the knockouts (as he does in the IPL every year as well) but how does that make England's batting lineup the best ever. Both teams are significantly worse compared to Australia under Ponting for one.

Check the scores from the last WC at the end of the group stages.

England needed to win their last 2 group stage matches and after a tournament with 250-300 par score suddenly had very flat pitches.

The Australia series was fantastic, as it often is. Much higher quality of matches as well.

It will. India need to play a Shaw at the top in ODIs and have him play with intent from ball one and not caring about his batting average necessarily.

Yep, there was a real buzz about this tour in England as it got going that reached fever point after the 1st test victory. It was on terrestrial TV and coming up in work conversations.

Now even my mates who follow Cricket are barely talking about it. Obviously added to by the fact we keep getting spanked.

Bhuvi is India's best white ball bowler. English batsman don't have any clue how to play him

Really liked Morgan's interview "basically saying we'll keep on playing like this, no matter what".

Kinda obvious but this is the way forward.

Keep saying it but India's depth all round is insane, everyone else is reliant on them fecking up with the line up.

It was a good interview. Loved the comment that he'd rather lose like that than by 'ten runs playing the wrong way'.

A million miles away from our white ball approach up until 2015ish.

In a one off game there are a few teams with game changers that can beat anyone.

But over a series, India are so stacked with talent that seem to be able to hit the ground running (credit to the IPL the logical guess).

I think we have the best 25 players in the world by a significant margin, but not the best 11 definitively in any format. Tests arguably we do if we win away in England and NZ.

Who would be the best 11 in tests apart from India?

I think with the way the scheduling falls in test cricket you do get periods where there is no definitive 'best side' which is abit ridiculous I suppose.

Currently I think most would agree India 'look' the best team, but getting beat 3-1 in England this summer would change that pretty quickly and it's not out of the question.

Morgan is a brilliant skipper who likes to have his team play an exciting brand of cricket. Anyone saying otherwise or devaluing this English side are just bitter. If India or Kohli thinks this is the way we can win the next WC then we as Indian fans could be in for more disappointment. From Kohli's post match interview you could see he values loyalty and will not change the personnel or approach in ODI. I am glad he came to senses in T20s by saying he will open which is the right way to go about considering Suryakumar has shown what he can do at one down. Rohit Dhawan have been a valuable servant for India in ODIs but I feel one of them has to be dropped if not both. We need to groom the next batch and give them time before the next WC starts.

I feel we have the best Test 11 right now. No other team can match that and add the depth to it we look scary. Odi is a worry for me but maybe in a years time with SKY, Kishan, Iyer may change that opinion too.

Drop Rohit? What a joke

Indian fans moan so much even though they are winning every fecking game . Can't imagine how bad it would be if they were losing
