England in India 2021

Guys, what’s Washy like batting?
No one knows. Decent bat at 7-8 in t20. Hadnt played a first class game for three years till Brisbane. There was an article on Cricbuzz which said Dravid at one point felt he was the best batsman in his age group in India. So I’m curious to see how he goes.

Is that sensible? India could easily bat out the last day.
Won't be easy to bat out the last day but doable. It is better option since Eng wouldn't want to chase even 100-150 on last day against 3 spinners with pitch already roughed up.

Yes it's sensible no matter how good the pitch is in India it's still dangerous to bat last chasing decent total which could very well happen depending on how India fares in their Second inning if they are asked to follow on if it comes to that.

Was bound to happen at some point. I expected it to happen a bit sooner, but England will be delighted to get him.

If this isn’t out, it shows what a ridiculous review that first one was.

wonder what odds on a draw -- I think we will draw this

I reckon England will bat again even with a big lead. Unless the pitch really starts to fall apart I think a draw is most likely.

On the subject of things Archer was supposed to be good at, I could have sworn he was supposed to be a gun fielder.

Not that that's an easy chance, but I reckon he's a bit slow getting there.

Haven't watched much of this match. Anyone want to tell me where we went wrong? Have England bowled really well? Or have we fecked up?

Bit of both. They bowled well in the first session and we could’ve applied ourselves better.

Easier being a gun fielder in T20 than at the end of a long day in the field in a test match. Stokes who is renowned as a great fielder, drops quite a few in tests too.

Yeah, that’s true. Plus Chennai is particularly sapping and Archer is still newish to test cricket.

Similar to what Stokes used to do when he first started out, think he will become a bit more reserved with experience.
Yeah was thinking exactly the same actually. He'll be an amazing player in time.

Feel like he'd be better off at 7 at the moment though, with a bit less responsibility.

Brilliant day for England. Just caught the highlights and some poor shot selections. I won't moan about Pant and the way he bats. He is a special talent and I hope he is not dropped from the team. Kohli still look rusty and may need some more innings before we see the real Kohli again.

I don't know why but I am not too pissed with the team's batting approach. We still can salvage a draw here if ash/sundar continue to frustrate england bowlers. It is England's match to win so let us see how they get that job done.
