It's been a good series but we're definitely in this peculiar stage of test cricket where the teams are as close as ever but no one is particularly good.
No one great test team at the moment, each are as good as the other in their own conditions but struggle away from home (although Pakistan have done a much better job here that I expected).
Needs to be more Test cricket played but I don't think it brings in as much revenue as ODI/T20 so the focus is away from Tests. Shame as I still think it's the best form of the game.
Warne clearly doesn't remember Steve Smith having two backstops for Brendon McCullum last year.
Yeah I'd like more parity, England play a ton of test cricket whereas I believe Pakistan have barely toured the last 2-3 years? I think ODI's are the odd one out, don't mind T20's. Just so weird at the moment, Sri Lanka got a good kicking over here and are dishing it out to Australia at home with no fit quick bowlers.
Thats whats made it a good series I think.
Neither team have been good enough to cement their position when they've been on top (apart from this game) and both sides have made mistakes and let the other back in which has turned a series played on disappointing pitches into a bit of a cracker.
Good stuff from us. A healthy lead, enough time to take 10 wickets. Really should win this one.

Amir unlucky to not get a 50. If he can bat 39 N/O, there's no reason why Hales & Vince shouldn't be able to get good scores.

Haha I'm no nostradamus mate, just seemed obvious that yesterday and today were the best days for batting and we were giving ourselves an unnecessary problem by batting first when it was green and overcast. Maybe they wanted to give the bowlers another day of rest - whatever the reason, it was a stupid call. Cook is a mediocre captain at best.
Wouldn't go that far, but I did say at the beginning of the test I couldn't believe he decided to bat.
A lot of mediocre captains would love test series wins in India, in South Africa and multiple Ashes victories. He'll most likely end up with the most test wins of any England captain, so whilst he's not too exciting or risk averse he's a much better captain then he's given credit for.
I still don't think batting was a bad decision at all. In fact, I think the toss has more or less made no difference to this game.
England just haven't played very well. Unless choosing to bowl set us down another timeline where we batted and fielded better we'd still be losing.

Vince has an average of 19 after 7 home tests. Ian Bell is licking his lips somewhere in Birmingham.
Has had nowhere near a good enough season to even be in the discussion.
His time has gone.
England have a worrying tendency to fade badly in the final test of a long series.

Went to watch Suicide Squad, looks like I missed out on all the fun!!Also, considering how much Hales & Vince were blabbing to Yasir when he batted, they've done feck all themselves. England should get rid, especially of Vince. Move Moeen up the order & bring Rashid/proper spinner in for India.

Decent watch, preferred it to BvS but thought it could've been better. Worth watching though.
Great performance in the batting department, i couldn't believe my eyes that we scored around 550 runs against England in England, and Yasir have picked up Root which was an essential wicket after Cook, lets hope we can wrap this up soon, the third test still gives me nightmares, the manner in which we lost it was funny and impressive only Pakistan can lose a test match with a lead in 2nd innings.

Pakistan have done really well after some demoralising situations in the last 2 tests, fair play to England aswell who have dug out of some difficult situations but should be winning this series at home. 4 tests and likely to be 4 results it's been a good series.
Yeah Vince is definitely going to get dropped with Moeen moving up the order. If Stokes hadn't got injured after the 2nd test, wouldn't have surprised if that would have happened already.
Hales I will see get another shot purely because I have no idea who else will open for England.
Robson's averaged 60 in Div 1 this year (and made a better fist of it than anyone imo).
Long term there's some good prospects but the last thing they need is to be rushed.

Great day for Pakistan, Younis Khan is such fighter. I fear this England team are going to get hammered when they tour India, apart from Root and Cook the batting is pretty average. When the ball is spinning most of the team look hopeless and the lack of a quality spinner in the team means the bowling attack is pretty one dimensional.
