Empty Old Trafford

You realize they get the money for that game anyway?
It's about sending a message and creating negative headlines.
This would surely hurt more than the few bucks they gain from a ticket...

Having said that, I don't support it. We're one game into the season, ffs.
When you want the owners out it shouldn’t matter if you‘re one game in or on the verge of a treble. If you hate the parasite owners things like this are a must.

No, I think that leaving a seat that you've paid for in protest of the ownership is hollow, hypocritical and weak. if you want the Glazers out you have to hit them where it hurts and these protests do not have any noticeable impact on revenue.

By all means protest outside of the ground before and after the match but don't buy tickets, concessions, megastore items or MUTV subscriptions if you're serious about getting them out.

The Glazers don't care one bit about the potential reputational damage of empty seats. Headline news around the world means more potential exposure for their commercial sponsors. All press is good press.
well thats funny, as the guy who runs the club just sat in a pub with fans telling them dont go after sponsors as its damaging the club. but you clearly know more

It surely is a nice thought but United has a loyal fanbase and huge number of tourists wanting to attend a game. But, surely more visible protests that exposes Glazers will work. Maybe replace all the banners with anti glazer ones is also a good idea.

That was when people were leaving bad reviews for TeamViewer. Another genius bit of action. Hurting the club but not hurting the Glazers.

I don't think the Glazers care about supporter opinion and thus can't be hurt by the means that have been attempted. If you want them out, then fans need to organize funds and buy shares. It's the only way.

I was of the belief that Michael Knighton and a group of investors are in the process of putting a bid in at the moment and are at the stage of writing up documents to do this. With a low share price and its clear the glazers havent got the cash to invest in the squad never mind the stadium redevelopment and the toxicity surrounding the club now is a good time to sell.

Maybe the players are playing poorly to force pressure onto the Glazers and get them out of the club.

The best way to hurt the Glazers is to prevent matches starting.
Protests.

It could be great if can happen as it would be all over the news but it won't, protest outside, surely it'll get bigger and bigger the worse the transfer window goes and our results don't get any better, make banners for inside the ground! Make it so every live game with Utd everyone knows the glazers should leave.

I'm not sure who is worse for United, the Glazers, or the portion of the fanbase that accepts the mediocrity they have brought and shame the fans that don't.

Seeing this blow up on Twitter today - anyone got any links or further info?

What do we reckon lads? Will it make a difference or will it not?

Do you personally support it?
What's the point? They've already got the money from sales, an empty stadium isn't exactly going to have players like De Jong jumping on a plane to come and join us

Liverpool will be the biggest catalyst in emptying Old Trafford that night Unfortunately

I actually think it's more impactful than not buying a ticket or returning your season ticket.

Those tickets would just be resold or snapped up by others. Ensuring the ground is as empty as possible is about as best you could do

I don't think we need to bother with protests. Surely they will sell when we are playing in the Championship

Can the Premier League revoke an owners license? If another game got called off would they have any power to get rid of them - given the financial implications and negative damage that would bring to the premier league.

If we keep persisting with a McFred midfield then I’m pretty sure OT will empty regardless of any protest that’s going on

The first 3 posts are negative.

Why do our own fans feel the need to do that every single time someone tries to get something going.
I know. It’s utterly bizarre. When opposition fans are saying positive things about these kinds of protests but our own aren’t tells you exactly how much work we have to do to try and shift these awful owners.

Great idea. Would love it to work where at least 50% of the stadium was empty but I doubt it will gain much traction at the moment. You never know though, fingers crossed.

Any and every protest is welcome in my book and we should all be chipping in to the cause from now on.

I wrote a big email to the premier league today calling for the owners to be made to remove the debt immediately or sell to ‘fit and proper’ owners.
I encountered others to do the same.
They have recently brought in rules for ‘fit and proper’ owners, as well as a ban on leveraged buy outs.

There's not a chance that it'll actually make a visible impact, and it won't do anything in terms of the Glazers selling IMO. They simply aren't interesting in selling unfortunately. There also has never been someone trying to buy it from them.

The most it'll do is light a little fire to make some more signings, but yeah.

Don't think it is far fetched if liverpool repeat what they did last season to us at old Trafford and after the display against Brighton nothing has changed so far to think that we won't get dominated by liverpool

Yeah that’s a good course of action. To me the Govt, PL or a huge wad of cash are the only things that will get them out.

If that happens I’d resign if I was ETH. What’s the fecking point? Indifference at ownership level, incompetence at board room level and rank toxicity within the fan base. We’re one game in and it all looks fecked. He should go back to Ajax. Nobody is getting the environment or time needed to succeed at this place anymore.

Getting a bit pathetic ain't it, game lost, and total meltdown.

Understand we missing good few players to finish the transfer window but we brought 3 in already and I'd imagine another 2/3 by end of window, so be massively premature and highly cringy protesting after losing a match.

Won't reflect well at all.

Also not a good for the manager too see.

Emptying the stadium, leaving before the game, not buying shit from the club isn't going to work. The club is too big and the support is too massive for it to be organized to any sufficient degree that will hurt the Glazers. What needs to be done is actual protests - in the media, in the stadium, everywhere. Get the media to talk about it. Actively prevent matches from playing. The Glazers will get so much heat from it that they will have no choice but to sell. We had our chance, actually, with Ole, but the Glazers brought some shiny new toys and the fans forgot all about it.

We need to create a media outrage otherwise they'll never leave.

Boycotting a sold out game that all tickets have been paid for … take that Glazers

There are still too many people who think all the Glazers need is "time" and "patience." It's a view I not only disagree with, but actively disdain.

Erik ten Hag and arguably also the people above him who are new to their positions - they have a strong case for being given time. EtH absolutely needs time. The Glazers have had all the time I'm prepared to give them and all the chances. They've actively damaged the club for too long.

Last season we saw multiple fan protests pick up absolutely no traction because the fanbase as a whole is fractured. Just look at this forum, how quickly the name calling & gaslighting starts when posters disagree.

Most matchgoers just want to go to the game, support the team on the field & go home; it’s going to be near enough impossible to stop these people from doing what they’ve been doing for decades. You aren’t going to shame people into protest.

Sorry, don't mean to rain on anyone's parade and kudos to fans who actually tried something. But I don't see how it will work. Ya they know fans are unhappy but as long as dough keeps rolling in I don't see how they will care. Spamming Elon Musk on twitter to buy us might work better billionaire megalomaniacs buying a football club with global reach might appeal to him?

Only 2 possible ways for them to leave:
1. Someone make them an attractive offer
2. Something which we are already doing. Don't back the manager, let the stadium deteriorate, eventually it will get to a point where the asset becomes worthless. The way we going about it, it may happen within 10 years. Not sure how it works if the club cannot meet its loan repayment to JP Morgan. But with that amount of debt, I doubt the bank will let us go into administration, probably seize the club and do a firesale.
