Eminem

He was at the awards show where these cyphers were spat coincidently, not too sure what he's doing now but he had a run in with law a few years back. I remember listening to I'ma Hustla when I was like 11, think it went downhill after he made that Hotel song with R.Kelly which funnily enough I quite liked.

It was more than that. He had a car accident which nearly saw him die. Was involved in a shoot up and spent some time in prison. He's released some albums after these disasters struck him but it's been sort of meh...

In a couple moments we can go back to a couple minutes, take you back to real lyrics,
when we rapped till we saw spirits, mean spirited shit, fearless, rappers were gods who floated above peerless,
didn't give a feck about it or the audience, the fan base didn't exist, because of that we were limitless,
now they're limited, got to cater for the kids, and other ages to achieve them growing ratings,
and expand the mansion, compromise is nothing if it leads to expansion, around about the time they stopped rapping.

Oh damn, all rappers have a limited shelf life anyway, some last longer than others but they all fall off to an extent eventually.

And then you look at someone like AG, and what he's doing on the next Showbiz and AG album and you think, not all rappers are like that, or producers for that matter. It's been what, nearly 20 years since Soul Clap, and they are both actually getting better. How? He's kept the same audience.

There are always exception but I was thinking in a more mainstream sense with Nas, Jay-Z, Eminem etc. but with underground rappers it's probably easier to stay at the top because you have that loyal fanbase that listens to you for you, so you can keep being you, there's much more freedom. Theoretically rappers should get better with age, as they gain life experiences and wisdom but there's no way in my view Nas will ever sound better than he did on Illmatic. Producers are much different beast to rappers, they can wander in sound and lose focus and hunger but they can always make a dope beat if they wanted too.

You must have seen this Armchair:

 Freeway's voice
Cassidy was a beast when it came to battle raps. Shame he couldn't make a good cohesive album, his albums sounded like mixtapes.
Philadelphia freeway >>>> any album Cass put out
But yeah freeway got destroyed here. One of the most one sided battles I've seen, I felt sorry for him.

No surprise Eminem took that other cypher. He's still got it (when he can be arsed).
