Elon Musk | Owner of X and complete loser

New user signups being at an all time high would suggest to me that they are no longer catching people(/bots?) signing up fraudulently. Which would be ironic given the excuses Musk was trying to use to get out of buying Twitter.

Revelling in a company collapsing and its employees becoming jobless… nice.

Anyway you’ll likely be waiting forever anyway.

A dislike for Musk is fine, your other view point there is likely as bad as anything you dislike him for

Ah you're just acting the bollocks now replying like that, to be honest :). Hope the workers are fine and are brought on by whomever buys it out, or better yet move to a higher-paying job where your CEO isn't a psychopath. No need to create aggro by twisting my intention for no reason. Your last point is absolute horseshit.

this will annoy some people; i cant wait for twitter to collapse

To be fair, I don't think this is wrong though. The majority of people in these tech companies do jack shit. These companies are bloated beyond all reason.

No you were acting the bollocks with your distasteful post.
Thinking he will fail is one thing. Wishing for the company to collapse is another. I twisted non of your words

Was the left picture the bloated Twitter?

Not the majority no. There would of course have been a lot of fat just like all the overvalued tech firms. And most of the fat wouldn't even be the tech staff by the way.

However you do need very good team of sys ops and infrastructure to keep the lights on and support the platform. Which is critical.

Saying that though they will obviously hire

Kind of. I've worked in tech for 15+ years now. As with most jobs, 80% of the work is done by 20% of the people. Or something like that. I've had roles where I've routinely worked 100+ hour weeks and roles where I've worked less than 10.

 Good man yourself.

Anyway, I actively hope everyone in Twitter loses their jobs, has a horrible Christmas and their pets die.

mRNA trending on Twitter, and not for good reasons. The amount of batshit crazy and outright lies on there is breathtaking. Lots of people with "MD" in their name but bot looking handles posting loads of bullshit. The medical breakthrough of the decade is going to be rejected by millions because of a torrent of misinformation that is exponentially more visible now thanks to this dipshit.

They call it free speech. So it is a good thing.

It's scary how medical professionals were being censored before.

Yeah, there are thousands of people in all the large tech companies doing absolutely nothing, all day, every day.

Indeed, probably watching TV while their 1 year old sleeps for 16 hours a day.

Not totally, but the idea of free speech is to let people decide for themselves. At least on paper, that's how it should work.
That is indeed not how it should work. If we know for a fact that something is not true, we should step in and stop people from pretending it is. Especially if the consequences are this harmful. We don’t need an open dialogue about everything. Sometimes we have all the facts.

Most things aren't in black and white, but for the ones that are, by all means use the fact checker function. I just think that banning people because they look/act like a dodgy doctor only serves to create more martyrs.

Then so be it. But in my opinion a platform like Twitter can’t ever accept people pretending to be medical professionals spouting factually wrong stuff. This can never be tolerated because of how dangerous it is. I would go as far as to say that Twitter, if they don’t put believable effort into stopping this stuff, should be held liable for damages. It’s their platform and their immense responsibility.
Like you said, lots of stuff is grey. But some stuff is black and some is white.
And it’s not like this is a new demand or something unheard of. These things aren’t accepted in other spaces, too. Advertising, for all its faults (and there’s loads) is subject to laws regulating these things. You usually can’t claim certain effects in advertising without being held liable. Rightfully so.
In my opinion we should go even further. Because there’s loads of pseudomedical bullshit that needs to disappear from the public eye.

And who decides if we have all the facts?
You? The Supreme Chancellor of planet Earth? Communist party committee? Or are we just depending on divine intervention or their messengers?

You make it more difficult than it has to be. As far as I’m concerned, not a single country worldwide lives by standards of absolute freedom of speech. So we know that distinction is indeed possible. The best example is German law towards holocaust denial. We know for a fact that it happened. So denying the holocaust is a crime. It’s that simple. And in the same way, we know that mRNA based vaccinations aren’t a scheme to kill millions of people worldwide. So claiming this shit, should be followed by a swift ban from whatever platform that nonsense got spouted on. And yes, I’m fully aware that grey areas exist. They need to be accounted for. Something courts worldwide do every single day. So clear cases get treated like that. Less clear cases get treated accordingly and so on.
To me, platforms like Twitter, but also the caf here for example, are similar to publishers of literature and so on. They have a clear responsibility to moderate and regulate their platform. Otherwise the law can step in. So I don’t really see the issue. We’re already doing it every day. It’s the reason you can’t spell out certain words on here. And I’m very sure claiming mRNA vaccines are destroying the world, despite all evidence to the contrary, will get you banned here as well. Same if I were to make fraudulent claims about you as a person. I’m sure you’d happily see the caf intervene in such cases.

Should someone get banned for saying that the lab leak theory shouldn't be discounted immediately?

The question isn't who but how to decide. This is the foundation of the scientific community. A broad consensus an commitment to various defined protocols of truth, fact and prediction that can then be tested and verified by peers.

Free speech can only be free to the point where it starts to hurt someone else. It's quite a simple concept. Your right to free speech does not trump other people's right to equality and justice.

Should someone get banned for saying that the lab leak theory shouldn't be discounted immediately?
No idea. Never bothered researching this specific topic. If there is a clear scientifical consens towards one side, than probably yes. Probably because there are layers to these things and to the way they are claimed, of course. But if someone on here were to constantly claim this and we have clear evidence to the contrary, they should be gone.
But let’s turn things around. Should you be allowed to claim the holocaust didn’t happen? And why?

I don't have issues with banning holocaust denialists. I have issues with banning people for discussing things for which there isn't yet scientific consensus.

By the way, I don't know if the latter happened on Twitter (right wingers will gladly tell us it did). What I do know is that fraud and replication issuss and shoddy analysis exist in science and I'd rather we not ban everyone for just being sceptical.

Sure. And again, I can’t judge the theory you mentioned. But it’s important to me to work out that we agree that there are things that we as a society can not accept. Now as to where this begins, is obviously a matter of discussion and not as easy. But if there is a clear and obvious scientific consensus, there’s no reason for us to not adhere to it.
And as I alluded to before, we are too tolerant towards certain claims. Especially in the field of medicine. There is far too much pseudoscience that people are allowed to claim as alternatives to medicine and so on. Homeopathy for example. And these things do hurt other people. So we should fight these claims. And those making these claims and those amplyfying these claims need to be held responsible for the consequences.
And we’ll always differ as to when we know enough and so on. We will not work out perfect models to act by. Because some things aren’t as clear. But that doesn’t mean we should never do it.

The majority of employees hired in the last 3-4 years certainly, most of them have doubled in headcount with no material increase in product offerings.

That said, it is also a stupid post asking why Twitter hasn’t collapsed. Engineers are not paddling and keeping the ship from sinking.

The musk threads have gone down the dogs since it changed from a circular argument between the same people over whether he was a cnutish fraud or not

Twitter not going tits up in spite of truly becoming a cesspit is half the fun.

Google search results have also moved towards promoting expert sources and lowering the ranking of dubious sources, especially for medical and financial search terms.

You were fine with more than half the workforce being laid off. Please save us from having to read your pious hypocrisy.
