Middle of July and haven't signed anyone in his first summer as chief executive... what the feck's he doing in Oz anyway?

Good shout! Perhaps using publicity from the tour to drum up another official partner. Probably got $40,000,000 for an official supplier for paperclips or something?

Before Gill left, he buried the warchest in Australia somewhere, and left him a treasure map to find it. Sort of a passing over of the keys if you will.

Unfortunately though he is yet to find it - hence the slow start to the transfer dealings. Doh!
He must've found it just before supper, hence the urgent flight.

Which flight number? Whats the ETA? Normally a muppet has access to such information.

Its probably going to be to sign Garay or Baines, they seem to have been rumbling on the longest.

Obviously not genius, I just said that if he did leak the latest muppet fest as a riposte (which is very unlikely I'll admit) but if anyone believed that story to begin with they're extremely thick. Our transfer policy this year has been absolutely hammered by a lot of people on here and I think, as Sammsky1 says, he's come across very likeable whenever I've heard anything from him and I think so far, being new to the job, he's handled the pressure well.

Don't get your knickers in a twist girlies.

Going by Chelsea's official statement today, they clearly feel it was intentionally leaked from the club to piss them off.

It's almost certain that it's a departing player, otherwise he wouldn't have gone to Australia in the first place as he'd have known that a player may be signed soon. Given the last rumours it's probably Rooney but I won't be surprised if it's someone like Evra or Vidic.

and you know that how?

On the day that a bid for Rooney is confirmed? Come on KM. It's certainly the more logical scenario.

On another note, I know we're on tour there but why does Woodward need to be there anyway? I would have thought his role would be to remain at the club for this very reason.

Why is the chief executive on one of our main money making ventures of the year? Why indeed would he be out there to meet important potential investors/sponsors. Why indeedy?

Surely those duties would fall to commercial director Richard Arnold? I was under the assumption he handled most of the sponsorships from the London office.

Erm, as Chief Executive officer of the club one would expect his presence to engage local organisers, investors, sponsors etc. We don't live in an age where he has to travel by ship!

The Rooney bid was yesterday which was immediately rejected, how does making it public change anything?

I get that but surely if he needs to be in the country to sort transfers at the very time we're trying to sort transfers then it would make sense for him to remain.

I hope he's not flying Aeroflot...he'll never make it back alive.

Also, it's going to be Faillaini, isn't it? :(

Hmmm? feck me I've gone full muppet this summer.

Gill was a top guy, very appreciative for everything he did for us.

BUT THIS GUY E-WOOD IS THE feckING MAN. Look at him. He's just so keen. I mean look at him!

Gill would sneakily leave Australia. E-Wood? feck it. He probably told everyone he bumped into that he was going to do some business. What a lad.

Can't be Evra cuz he's still on tour? Vidic is possible but i agree that its Rooney most likely.

If something occurred that required his presence, then of course he would leave immediately. He's not a psychic, he can't predict when transfer activity may occur; and he has his other duties to attend to too, including representing MUFC.

Are people naive, or what?

True, I completely forgot we have everyone still on tour. It's Rooney then, I'm 90% sure of that.

Unless Rooney has handed in a formal transfer request today I'm not sure what has changed for Woodward to travel back.

Do you think the commercial director would be the person that potential multi-million pound investors want to meet? He'll be the man charged with finding the sponsors and getting them so far, by and large the chief executive will have to be involved heavily in closing deals and in glad handing these investors.

He'll be back in England by lunch time tomorrow and in the mean time there's these hand inventions called the Internet and the phone.

It is freaking chaos now that Lord Fergie and Gill have left. I am worried about the new setup. Everything about this transfer window has been piss poor so far.

I hope he's not flying Aeroflot...he'll never make it back alive.

I refuse to believe its just him. We're signing Fabregas, Fellaini, Rooney , Ronaldo and Bale. We then will sell Rooney to Barca.

When are the jokes about Everton players going to stop?

They were painfully unfunny even when they were fresh hat, but now they're just ridiculous.
