Edward Woodward

It's likely this guy is driving our transfer policy this year, everyone has been giving the club a lot of stick for their activity during the window, the Thiago saga, Fabregas bid and Rooney but I feel that so far the club (and this guy if he's driving things) have performed impeccably.

The muppets on here are so quick to dismiss and complain about the club but Thiago, by all means, was always going to Bayern. No one has any idea what is going on with the Fabregas stuff and the riposte to Chelsea and Jose with the Rooney saga (if the player + cash thing was leaked by United) was genius.

He also knows that the club holds all the cards in regards to the Rooney saga, stipulating that he's willing to run down the players' contract if needed. He knows that Rooney will need to perform to impress before the World Cup, he knows that it's a pivotal year for the club and an inform Rooney can make the difference. He knows that United are in a better position next year to barter with parties who may not be interested in taking Rooney on this year.

OK, he has a silly name, but so did Galileo Galilei and he has a mention in possibly one of the best songs of the last century, people need to be a bit more patient and calm down a bit round here.

;o)

Came here expecting a Woodward bashing, was definitely surprised.

Carry on my Woodward son.

Yeah, carry on!

Though the only thing I'm not too comfortable with is that a ton of the club's issues (player statements/bids etc.) seem to be going through the public domain. I can't remember us going about our business and leaking stories so often in years gone by.

Dude's a beast.

He's already trumping Gill and his fabled Warchest in my eyes. More of the same please Edward lad!

Have liked alot of his statements so far.

Needs to crack on now and sign a few hefty cheques.

What exactly did he do?

I've been away from the Caf for an hour and the transfer threads are hard to follow.

No one knows. Someone thinks he's a genius since allegedly United have leaked a false story about Chelsea bidding £10 million plus Mata for Rooney.

feck knows why that would be genius.

What are people on about? He's done feck all so far. I'm not against the guy but its a bit of a random time to start praising him.

Obviously not genius, I just said that if he did leak the latest muppet fest as a riposte (which is very unlikely I'll admit) but if anyone believed that story to begin with they're extremely thick. Our transfer policy this year has been absolutely hammered by a lot of people on here and I think, as Sammsky1 says, he's come across very likeable whenever I've heard anything from him and I think so far, being new to the job, he's handled the pressure well.

Don't get your knickers in a twist girlies.

As random as the folk on here criticising the transfer policy so far when we haven't actually done anything also.

Seems he's left Australia for some "urgent transfer business", can anyone back this up?
Was he even in Australia?

Apparently he is leaving Australia to conduct some urgent transfer business!!!

Nanananan nanananna woodman!

Confirmed on Sky News that he's left Aus for some "urgent transfer business".

I suspect this will be a significant outgoing rather than an incoming...

We all know that the most likely transfer he's completing will be Rooney to Chelsea though with nothing other than cash coming the other way. Right?

Middle of July and haven't signed anyone in his first summer as chief executive... what the feck's he doing in Oz anyway?

It has to be Rooney. United should not budge unless Mata is part of the deal. I wouldn't take anybody else from Chelsea apart from Hazard, and that gimp has made his bed.

Why is the chief executive on one of our main money making ventures of the year? Why indeed would he be out there to meet important potential investors/sponsors. Why indeedy?

Before Gill left, he buried the warchest in Australia somewhere, and left him a treasure map to find it. Sort of a passing over of the keys if you will.

Unfortunately though he is yet to find it - hence the slow start to the transfer dealings. Doh!
