100% not Rooney? and how do you know that?

I don't think it's that pressing. If we were to sell Rooney, trust me it will be on the last day to hinder him and Chelsea. If it's anything to do with selling Rooney, it's to ask Chelsea to give us that type of midfielder Moyes is looking for. It would be pointless for the guy to leave Sydney to do what exactly? Talk to Rooney? To Chelsea? Maybe, but nothing would be resolved before sunday if that was the case - so why the need to fly back?

Fellani and Baines are not going anywhere. No way would he need to rush home for either.

It's something big about to happen.

Then why fly back? Why could that not wait until he returned on Sunday?

Maybe to tie it up? Who knows? According to Moyes we were 'hoping' to sign someone prior to going out on tour....that obviously didn't happen but we'd obviously have still be in negotiations

Ferllain is big!! Have you seen the hair? :) Seriously though, would be a cult hero I reckon at Old Trafford.

Ed could sign the pair of them via Skype, it doesn't warrant coming back from Aus.

It's got to have something to do with Rooney. Don't care what the press have been told. All this stuff comes out in the last couple days and now he's flying back?

Must be something that requires immediate attention, something that probably wasn't planned for. Only things I can think of are Cesc and Rooney.

It wouldn't be the Rooney thing. We clearly know he wants to go and know Chelsea want him. But we're evidently wanting to play it cool. Rushing back on the plane would be completely counter productive to that.

Don't go getting everyone excited!

If it's selling Rooney for £15m there'll be hell to pay

Daily Mail saying it's to do with Cesc.

Being in the right time zone when concluding transfers will help. You won't have to have sleep-deprived 3am telephone negotiations or asking others to stay up until the early hours taking our call.

I must say I cringed a bit when I heard that headline at work today. It's like this summer we appear to have become clowns or a bit of a circus. Like, 'ooooh, guess what? We are about to conduct some SERIOUS TRANSFER BUSINESS everyone. And promise it isn't Rooney, it's BIIIIIG!'.

I just think coming off the back of some strange and quite public statements regarding transfers in general, I just thought, did we really need to hear that? Like so what, this is the transfer window, everyone is up to transfer business. Just seemed a little small-time, or perhaps I am being over dramatic.

Damned if they do, damned if they don't. Not even a week ago people complained about us not being direct enough in our statements which cost us the Thiago deal, apparently. Now we seem more open than ever and it's still bad.

I don't think we'd admit that he was flying back to sell Rooney.

I don't get what could have changed to warrant him coming back. We know Rooney wants out and we know Chelsea bid for him. I can't think of what development there could have possibly been to necessitate him coming home there.

Rooney is standing outside Woodward's house, threatening to chastise his wife and kids unless he's allowed to join Chelsea?

Why would he need to fly back to sell Rooney?

Sure its simply a case of telling Chelsea or whoever's interested to give us a sensible bid or to feck off? Regardless, I'd be pretty peeved if that's the reason he's gone back.

This was supposed to be THE muppet summer for us yet its Rooney who's stealing our thunder

It's going to be Garay isn't it. Pretty sure if it was anybody else the story would have leaked by now, I'm not often disappointed with a new player but getting yet another defender will be very disheartening. Give Jones and Smalling more games at the back both have more than enough potential.

But Chelsea are already in Thailand, and I would of thought his counterpart at Chelsea would also be with them, why would he have to come back to England.

Sky are saying it is urgent transfer business.
He was due back on Sunday anyway, I wonder why the big rush.

"I'm coming lads, forget Thiago & Cesc!"

Agree. There's no sense in going back early to conduct a sale. We'd just make Chelsea wait the extra few days. The only way I see it could being Rooney-related is if we're trying to keep him here. Somehow, I just don't see us bending over backwards for him. We're blatantly looking to get him to hand a transfer request in.

I'm desperate for this big transfer to be Cesc, Ronaldo or someone of that ilk. That's my inner muppet escaping though.

?

The "story" of us making an offer for Maquinhos, Fabregas, Baines have all come out

True but there would be reports if a deal was close, especially for the likes of Fabregas. Garay has been a 'done deal' for months, my guess is after the recent disappointment (Thiago and Rooney) they want some good news to report. It's just my opinion, hopefully I'm completely wrong.
