yeah we’re in a deep ol rut at the moment but we couldn’t be top Dogs forever, our time will come again. Hopefully some experience of Cavani, sharing some of the burden with our other forwards and giving them the chance for a rest now and again can only be seen as a good thing.
I dread the abuse he’s going to get after a slow first few games due to fitness, Pogba receives the abuse for a few slow games even though he’s one of our top players and just got through coronavirus. I was very sympathetic to covid19 financial plight early in window, but the board are at fault here as they have teased us along for months.
They should have shit the story down if this was a real problem.

Apparently because he may take a few weeks to get back to fitness that means Ole is mad for okaying it and the board don’t know what they’re doing. All before a ball has even been kicked
 
Doesn't make much sense to me except as a plan b. We have martial as first choice and Greenwood as second choice striker. When will he play? Or are we abandoning the way we've played since ole came? Nobody in this United team can cross so there will be no service to a striker like Cavani. Really strange and smacks of panic signing.

It appeases the current and potentially new shirt sponsors is where I am coming from, probably not as much as Sancho but Cavani is a big name worldwide.
 
I’m really shocked at the number of people who are posting positive stuff about this signing. It’s clearly a panic buy and a typical Woodward / Glazer signing.

I’ve always been a fan of Cavani but he is not the player he once was and hasn’t played any football worth talking about for the past year.

I’m livid, what do these guys take us for. We are not falling for this shit. This is nonsense and they are ruining our club.

This is probably a quality example of how these people obviously have strong agent links and why they tend to get an inside scoop. It doesn't mean that they will always get it right, because things can change quickly or an agent can feed them duff info, but he's not a fraud and never has been. He's not a transfer Messiah either. As always, the truth is somewhere in the middle, but sadly that isn't binary and doesn't suit people these days.

He hasn't played a match since 11th March. 7 months. When Ighalo joined us, he hadn't played for 2 months & it took him a month to get his first start. That's with Ighalo being injury free beforehand. How long is it going to take Cavani with his injury troubles? You're not concerned by those quotes?

That’s not it, it’s the fact that they have failed to sign any of their targets and then panic buy this guy. It’s disastrous, can’t you see it?

He played his last game in March for PSG IIRC. Then COVID break and his contract ended in July. So at least 4 month without conditioning.

For professional footballer, this long lay off is worrying. Normal pre season would be around 3-4 weeks, but it may take longer to be up to speed with match sharpness, match fit. Let's not forget he's new to the PL.

Zlatan was not the same after coming back from injury with us.

It's disastrous if the club is unable to close Sancho (or get Dembele on loan) and Telles.

If Woody can get those 2 deals past the finishing line, getting Cavani as a backup 9 is good.

Big couple of days for Woody.
 
Clearly an Ighalo replacement. What’s all the fuss about? He might teach Greenwood a few things about heading also. Let’s judge the window on Tuesday morning. If Cav is all we have signed I’ll post a video of me drinking my own piss.

I think Ed has told Ole he will get all of his players but they all need to come on deadline day so he can look like the king!

Yes and hes replacing Ighalo not Martial so its not a big deal. He’ll be fit again by Jan
 
Panic buy, not that its not a good signing, because he could bring a lot to the squad. But he deffo wasn't part of the plan at the beginning of this window
 
In my whole life I have never thought like this but.... I am actually praying this guy fails the medical so he doesn't join the club.

I'm totally disgusted with this....I thought the club had turned a corner but this will set us back years if it goes ahead.

Of all the things that people get upset about around football, journalists etc. that post transfer rumors have always been a strange target of anger for me. Seems more like people just misplace their own frustrations and aim it at them. There's someone on this site right now who seems to absolutely despire Romano, for example. Just a weird state of affairs overall.
