Basically, he'll definitely be earning less than players Kane, Salah, Aguero, and Aubameyang whilst earning more than players like Mane, Vardy. His salary could potentially equal that of Roberto Firmino at Liverpool.
It is a good deal and I'm also happy with it. Adds some much needed experience and quality to our attack.

Basically he's an upgrade to Ighalo who have been underwhelming recent games and only here till Jan. Hopefully Cavani will only be here maximum of 2 years. If it's 3 years then I won't feel surprise.. typical of the club.

Doubt you’ll get too many saying the other two are good enough, hence why we’re trying to move them on.
People are unhappy because we haven't completed Sancho and Telles yet. If this was announced after Telles and Sancho, people would be very happy. Even if this was announced after Telles, there wouldn't be this much criticism.
I hope a good portion of any related wage is performance related. Plus we were always reported to be looking for a striker to replace Ighalo. We just weren't linked to anyone until this last week. I also hope that his previous deals falling through this window means we've gotten a good deal wage wise with him.

The issue is that his wages are high and he is in the twilight of his career, with PSG not using him much over the last 2 seasons.

Thats less than I was fearing. Was expecting £250-£300k basic. If they pay him an extra £20k a goal and he scores 25+ in the premier, then thats money well spent.
It seems fairly apparent that we wouldn't need to do this if we had landed Sancho. So giving up on that is the thing that has changed.
I will keep saying this till I'm red in the face. Ed likes young players with big resale or old players on a free. That's why we end up with a weird looking squad.
It is a 12 month contract, with an option for a 2nd. The guy is only 33 and is a proven goal scorer. I really do not see the issue.

It depends what people's opinions at the club are on some of the strikers in the academy. Martial is clearly our first choice, we need a suitable back up, but do you buy someone who'll take up minutes in the future for someone's path to the first team? It speculation on my part, but you also don't know the thought process behind it either. I'd think a 2 year deal means they have an idea for someone at the club or in the near future they'll go for in the strikers role. We also don't know who the first choice was for this role, I'm sure there was someone before Cavani.

Its an awful signing IMO if it happens. I’d rather get no one and sign a striker in January. Questionable fitness, not the most mobile so doesn't fit our pressing game. Two year contract, probably pretty large wages. Not PL proven. Most likely to not hit a barn door like these ‘amazing’ Other strikers That looked good on the continent To Arrive in PL like Higuain, Pato, Falcao, Soldado etc. Past it Fat cat after a last payday IMO.
