Ederson Moraes

"If you think of the 4 goals that have gone in, you can't blame Ederson for any of them"
:wenger::lol::lol:

Most goalkeepers at top sides find themselves in that position. When he has been called upon he has been good though, especially compared to the shitshow they had in goals last season.
Yeah I guess that’s generally the test of top Gks. Not doing anything for 89mins and needing to keep your concentration for that 1 shot.

But he’s also been flapping at a lot of crosses today. Something DDG struggled with a bit too, iirc.

Show me one post where anyone says he's better than DDG please (bluemoon doesn't count).

Saying Bluemoon doesn’t count is silly. They are actual City ‘fans’ and they were stating that he was better than De Gea, after 6 months :wenger:

And there were United fans saying Rashford is better than Sane on here.... their are blinkered fans everywhere. The reality is 99% of City fans said DDG is a better keeper.

I did see a few where city fans said they wouldn't swap him for De Gea. Seemed mental at the time.

Thats different to being better, most City fans explained why. We will dominate 90% of games, we don't need a DDG in those, we need an Ederson. It isn't because Ederson is better, its because he is what we need 90% of the time.

I'm not sitting ratching through posts on here as I have a life, but plenty of people in the real world and twitter have said it for the past few months.

Have to agree with you, never heard a City fan that I actually know IRL say that. They tend to rate DDG really highly.

Honestly can't say I've heard or seen a single one outside of a couple of numpties on Bluemoon.

It's different but DDG's distribution is incredible too in the right system. We'll see if that opinion still holds if Ederson makes mistakes like these in the CL knockouts.

I have heard it said, his kicking and passing is a different level which is the main reason for some people’s preference I think.

Excellent shot stopper, but he has been untested yet in the PL due to the way City play. Most of the games he has nothing significant to do.

First time hes been tested and hes been shit.

I doubt this is the first time he's been tested in a 177 game career, but this is surely going to test his mental fortitude in the next weeks

It's games like this where I think the sweeper keeper is hugely overrated and largely unnecessary. You just don't need your last line of defence taking any sort of risk.

It's not just Ederson. Neuer and Lloris have also conceded goals where the ball has just been looped in to an empty goal because they've taken a risk and not played it to safety. Why is Ederon trying to play that ball to a team mate there, instead of just lashing it high and hard? Either smash it up the pitch or in to the stands, or at least let it hang in the air to give you a few seconds to get back. A low ball there is moronic.

Pick your moment to play the ball, it doesn't have to be every time you have it.

You have to look at the sweeper keeper as a long term benefit, you might lose 3 points if your keeper has a bad day, or be spanked (which still only counts as 3 points less), but you're aiming at the long run, getting more points through the season with him helping the team.

No one is perfect, even Xavi or Pirlo would miss easy passes that led to a counter and a goal against, the most important thing for Ederson and his defense now will be their reaction, they need to keep playing that way with confidence, otherwise we enter the zone you seem to fear, a constant string of mistakes in the back line that actually costs the team more points than it wins

Apparently this guy is “well hard” according to Kyle Walker. He went down like a sack of shit when Arnautovic went body to body and soft hands for the Cresswell freekick.

Like some people actually believe that he's better than De Gea! How? fecking lunatics! :wenger:

No one (apart from some City fans) believes this.

He has the attributes that are required for a Guardiola team though.

Yeah, I've seen people arguing in threads on Twitter. I assumed they were City fans.

I wonder how Kyle Walker defines hard? I struggle to think of any current footballer that could be classed as "hard", let's face it all these guys are soft as shit, tattoos don't make someone hard.

I think a lot of football players could make good fighters if they trained. All you need is a winning mentality, an aptitude towards technique in dynamic movement and a disregard for your own safety. A lot of footballers have these qualities.

I assume you're excluding Arsenal players though. Their biggest worry is how much wax is in their hair and how tight-fitting the shirt is.

All ifs and buts, fact of the matter it's highly probable that Ederson isn't hard.

He’s a good keeper but hardly elite tier. Buffon must have been smoking some exotic stock to rate him higher than De Gea.

He's had a good first season at City. He'll get (even) better.

He's got different qualities to de Gea though. Look at the goals de Gea conceded against Vardy and van Aanholt this season as examples of Ederson's strengths/de Gea's weaknesses. Ederson would probably have dealt with Vardy's and at least made life a lot more difficult for the latter. Maguire's as well, if I recall correctly, de Gea probably should have come for. Not saying Ederson is better, in fact I've been a firm believer that de Gea has been the best keeper in the world for a good few years now, only that they are different types of keepers and maybe Buffon admires Ederson's style.

Must be a hell of a pay rise. A 7 year contract is risky for the player and thr club, espcuespec after 1 season.
