Ederson Moraes

City aren’t usually on the back foot like they were at the end today. Ederson is the best GK for them because of what he adds to their game.

Great with the ball. His actual goalkeeping, eye test and stats say he's very average though. I guess they don't mind the trade off as most teams don't get near them.

Yeah I am sure Pep is fine with it. He had his best success with Valdes in goal.

He is predisposed to come off the line more often to assist City's usual high line. Great keeper. Like Neuer he will look foolish from time to time, but Guardiola will tell him to keep at it

Was nervy today... but he is what he is. He also hit a pass to Sane that almost led to a goal.

Jamie Jackson in the Guardian said he had a quiet game last night. Must've turned over before all the flailing and running around in the last few minutes.

I don't think he is, I think his shot stopping and positioning is pretty average, if he wasn't as good with his feet I'm not sure he'd be paying in the premium. I honestly expect Muric to be #1 within 2 seasons.

You seem to be missing the white text..

Not great by him that. Suppose it was blasted at him but should get something on those.

The kind of shot most keepers struggle with and De Gea kicks away.

Think he was still feeling the effects of the fall.

He's an outstanding goalkeeper.

Why.. just why do keepers always try get down to shots less than a foot away from them at ground level? The reaction time to make contact with the ball with your foot vs being 6'2+ and trying to get your body down to ground level falling without being able to force yourself down (no additional force other than your body weight) is a no brainer.

Cech conceded many goals like this too. It's baffling, just use your feet.

Why is City obsessed with having male pornstars in their goal? First Johny Sins and now Ederson who looks like your generic male pornstar these days.

It is with the benefit of hindsight, yeah.

Shit hair cut/Shit tattoo but his composure and kicking is on different level, Shame about not being equally good at actually being a goalkeeper.

Exactly! It's terrible goal keeping and poor technique.

I remember Erik Thorstvedt talking about how his generation was taught never to save with your feet, but as he said that was just foolish. It doesn't matter how you keep them out as long as you do. I'm confident ddg would have saved that!

Yep, just kick the thing away

He could have saved it but that's different from if he should. The shot was hard and from a short distance but had he used his legs instead of diving down he probably would have saved it.

Delph was a complete mess for the goal. Had Pep started Laporte on the left and Stones in the middle would they have lost? Hard to say but I'm certain they wouldn't have conceded so easily in that instance had the roles been switched.

.

No probably about it, he WOULD have saved it. A fine example is 5v5 astro turf with your mates. If a shot it hammered that close to the goalie 9/10 times they'll save it with their leg because no one has any type of goalkeeper training because their mind set isn't ''get a hand to it''.

The leg just makes so much sense. The ball with bounce off the foot well outside of the box where as if he did manager to get a hand to it, it was travelling too hard to actually stop it. He would have parried it into danger again.

Dave eats those shots for breakfast. Nobody is in his league on the line. Can't really blame Ederson though. Most keepers won't save that shot.

Is it reflex that keepers go for a dive even when it's more logical to try to save something with your feet? Dave would have tried that and would save it imo.
