Ederson Moraes

Yep, was poor for Rashfords goal but his touch mid may though the first half from a rocket back pass to control then just pass was great, so much more than a goalkeeper, no where near DDG goalkeeping evel but in our team he's perfect

I read somewhere he was a Roberto Carlos styled LB before becoming a keeper, he just didn't like all the running. Would explain his skills with a ball a lot. Not near the keeper DDG is goal keeping wise and tends to flap a bit under pressure. DDG is coolness personified. Still he offers so much to us offensively and we very rarely have to defend that he suits us to a tee.

Actually did a bit of Bravo-esque goalkeeping for Rashford's goal, bad positioning gave him a 100% scoring chance. Watch the replay from the back of the goal.

Yup he closed down the wrong angle, think he was expecting Rashford to go wider with his touch.

Football is made of mistakes, it is not only stats, he is way way better than Bravo in every department.

He should have done better for the Ox goal and he's flapping at a few crosses.

All well and good saying he is a good keeper when City are dominating games and he has little to do, but games like this is the real test.

Still unsure about him. Fantastic with the ball at his feet, and the way he marshalls that area behind the defence is Neuer-esque. But in terms of actual goalkeeping, I feel there's something missing.

Yeah he's great when he doesn't have to do any goalkeeping.

He's shaky under the high ball today, hard to know if its the wind or just him. Gomez got completely stumped by it for our goal too.

One flaw I've noticed though is he sometimes goes wide before trying to close down the striker, and he get's his angle off. Thats twice recently against United and Liverpool. Both were savable with better positioning.

No question he can ping the ball about onto another player's instep/chest halfway up the pitch and he is very composed, but as an actual keeper, I don't think he is anywhere near De Gea.

Shouldn’t have conceded the shot from Ox.

Decent goal keeper, brilliant ball playing CB.

Basically Valdes mark 2.

Unlucky on the goal, he slipped his foot when reaching for he the ball. Would never had gone in of he did

Defenders backed off Oxlade-Chamberlain, then the keeper was taken a bit by surprise, even then the shot wasn't even just inside the post.
I think he might well be a better outfield player than a keeper.

Can anyone be more freaking accurate with such long balls than this guy?!
How the hell does he hit full length ball to the feet of the striker all the way up considering all those wind effects. Very strange to see such freakishingly long balls.

Surprising that even after a few replays Gary Neville didn't think Ederson's positioning was a bit too close to the near post. He's been very critical of De Gea in the past and I predict if De Gea let that goal in, he wouldn't just be talking about how sweet the strike was.

His starting position when chances occur from an angle, as Ox's goal came form today, is nearly always off when I've seen him play. It was similar with Rashford's equaliser where his starting position was off and when he came off his line he went even further wide. It's fine margins, but it makes a huge difference. He's got a lot of potential, but still has a lot of the basics to master.

His passing and the composure he delivers them is just stupid though.

Neville is loving Man City doing well; it means he can show how 'objective' he is by praising the noisy neighbors. Shambolic commentator.

He’s fecking shite. He can pass under pressure but a total clown in every other area.

I need to bump threads more often ;)

He has been horrible today and it’s actually insulting that some silly people said he is as good as De Gea after only 6 fecking months, when he had to do very little in a dominant team.

Neville was ready to praise him just before the Salah shot

Jesus.. type of game that can destroy a career

It's games like this where I think the sweeper keeper is hugely overrated and largely unnecessary. You just don't need your last line of defence taking any sort of risk.

It's not just Ederson. Neuer and Lloris have also conceded goals where the ball has just been looped in to an empty goal because they've taken a risk and not played it to safety. Why is Ederon trying to play that ball to a team mate there, instead of just lashing it high and hard? Either smash it up the pitch or in to the stands, or at least let it hang in the air to give you a few seconds to get back. A low ball there is moronic.

Pick your moment to play the ball, it doesn't have to be every time you have it.

I don’t watch too many City matches, so I could be wrong, but he’s not generally put under enough pressure, is he? Today he has been though.

Most goalkeepers at top sides find themselves in that position. When he has been called upon he has been good though, especially compared to the shitshow they had in goals last season.
