Eden Hazard

Not the third best player in the World but he should be. Like I said in my last post he had incredible talent but doesn't do enough to outshine Modric et all. He should be the clear best player in the League on talent alone but again he lets the likes of Salah and De Brunye get close to him. Funnily enough I don't think it's a lack of consistency but more a lack of application. Hopefully we see him shine more now with the tactics change at Chelsea. I don't know why but Chelsea have always been the lesser of all evils to me compared with Liverpool (obviously) and City (embarrassing plastic club). If Spurs and Arsenal can't win the League (they can't) then Chelsea are the best option IMO.

Anyway the stage tactically has been set so it's now up to Hazard to make his talent count and prove he is the next best to the mighty midget and the vain terminator.

Edit: just realised this is how I feel about Pogba. He frustrates me because if he has that talent he should be able to show it more often.

Hazard is like terrible weather, no one talks about it until it pops up and cause havoc. Im not saying he is highly overrated, but i think its weird how silent it can be for like 3-4 months then soon as he scores a goal or hits form he suddenly has been the best player in the league last 5 years.

In top form he is unstoppable.

How often is that tho? Most world class players are unstoppable when in top form. Not any, bar Messi and Ronaldo, are more graceful than him and maybe that is why he is so highly regarded but as far as consistency he never wanted it enough and never will.

Hazard is a player where stats will make him look average but when you watch him play you realize that hes one of the best in the world top 3. He showed in the world cup that he is better than 90% of players playing right now. If he had made the WC final he would have gotten the golden ball. Hazard only fault is that he likes to share and would pass instead of shoot.

Also for some weird reason his teammates always feck up the chances he creates. Just one of those weird things. But neither the ginger cnut and Salah are anywhere near him as he's just as clinical as Salah when infront of goal and just as good as a passer as KDB.

He's also never played under an attacking manager the last one he has as when he was in France and he scored 20+ goals that season. Let's see if under Sarri he scores 20/

Always said Hazard has more ability than 99% of players, he just hasn't utilised it to it's fullest. I feel Sarri is the man to give him that nudge to push to be a better goalscorer and more selfish.

@TheeAma

Yeah, we'll have to see. I guess you can make up excuses for why he hasn't kicked on with the talent he has, but I have my doubts he ever will. If he can be consistent with this new coach or just change his attitude himself then I have no reservations for praising him when he does. However i disagree with the notion that he is as important when he is invisible for months, I don't think he's the sort of player that is amazing even when he isn't. I believe if he was then the numbers would be showing it. He is not consistently playing at his best, and doesn't put up numbers while playing bad so yeah. I think it is just the flair and style of the player that makes him seem unstoppable when on form

Bar one shite season, he has proved himself the best in the league the past few years. Honourable mentions to De Bruyne, Aguero, Kane. Hazard on his day is peerless, though.

He’s never invisible for months. He has times when he’s not on top form like any other player, but it’s an extremely rare game where Hazard being on the pitch doesn’t have an important effect.

He's amazing, even when he's in vacation mode. His ability to influence and win games is second to none in this league. He's the reason I hate playing Chelsea and is easily the one player I would have at United if I could. Up there with Neymar IMO.

Sarri talking Hazard up very nicely. I like it.

This is a manager who helped make players like Callejon and Insigne look top level. Frightening to think what he can do with a player like Hazard.

This is nothing new. Peak Hazard is untouchable and incredible to watch. Will be interesting to see if he further explodes under an attacking manager or plays at the level that he has before which is good anyway.

Plenty of clueless posts in this thread from people who don’t watch him every week or simply don’t know a thing about football.

The guy is magic and head and shoulders above anyone else in this league when everyone is at their best. Now he’s got an attacking manager watch what he does this season.

Top 3 most fouled player in Europe since he was 20, seeing as you like your “numbers” he’s statistically been the best dribbler in the world over the last 5 seasons, shows up to big games, unselfish team player, great vision and passing, lethal finisher, lightning quick, entertains with his flair, carried his team to 2 league titles in the “most competitive league in the world” - what more do you want?

Really helps him having Giroud up top to play off rather than Morata. While Morata does have a good first touch and can hold it up well enough at times, Giroud is a monster physically and wins almost everything played into him both aerially and on the ground. Morata is still too soft and flops to the ground too often. Giroud welcomes the physicality.

He and Giroud have an almost telepathic understanding. Eden also having multiple other midfielders now like Jorginho and Kovacic who can create or dribble is a huge help as well. Doesn't have to do it all himself like he may have had to do in seasons past.

Good thing you're here to give us your completely objective view.

With due respect, apart from that half a season he is as consistent as any footballer in premiership. His numbers against top teams are impressive. He has been big part of our recent prem wins.

Doesn't do it on a weekly basis IMO. Many people say the same thing about him. I think that this guy could be up there with the top three players in the world. But for me he's not. He's good enough to be getting 20 goals a season but he doesn't. He can go weeks without doing much and for someone of his talent that's not good enough.

It's a good job you're here with your supreme knowledge to educate us all then.

When we missed out on him, I remember whinging to a mate of mine that we just lost out on a player who’s going to be as good as Ronaldo.

While Hazard has been brilliant, he’s yet to scale the heights I thought he would five years ago.

Interesting fact that he does not have an agent. They said on Sunday suppliment today that he renewed his last Chelsea contract "Gary Neville" style (himself with a lawyer to check the small print).

I've always felt Hazard was playing too deep whenever I've watched Chelsea in the past years. Players like him need to get the ball in the final 3rd more often instead of receiving the ball in their half.

Week in and week out for years he's consistently been a man of the match contender for us. Where people here get this "inconsistent" or "doesn't do it every week" nonsense I don't know.

Only thing he lacks is that assassin's mentality to go out and score 25 goals. That will hopefully come this season.

Messi and Ronaldo have set the bar so ridiculously high in terms of consistent performance and output for a decade.

True. I think only player over the last 5 years who has been as consistently top class in the PL is Agüero. Struggling to think of anyone else.

Its not always about numbers though, players like Modric are touted as one of the top 3 players for the ballon dor. George Weah won the ballon dor with just 18 goals that season.
Football had changed quiete a bit since those days. If you don't score bucket loads when you are an offensive player, there is no way you are getting close to a Ballon d'Or. Blame the 2 freaks for that.

Having watched him week in week out, I am satisfied with his consistency. Although manager tactics do impact his output. Having said that, I do think he doesnt have the Ronaldoesque hunger to be a goal scorer, though I suspect that changing for next few years hopefully.

He has started this season well with Goal/Assist in every game including the first couple where he can on as a late sub.

Xavi, Iniesta and Ribery have finished top 3 in voting this decade. And Modric is one of the favorites for the award this year.

Top 3 with world cups/european cups and still didn't win it. Hazard has no chance whatsoever and it'll be a bit of a surprise (that i would welcome) if Modric wins it.

A great player will do all he can to influence a game. If the teammates or tactics are not using his capability to the fullest then he will move to a position where he can have an impact, and that usually means dropping deep. With Jorgino and Kovacic, and an improved Pedro (who is also benefiting by the way) producing better quality passes Hazard can finally focus at the business end of the game. It's really just football basics 101 but surprising how managers over complicate everything.

I only started paying serious attention to Chelsea since Hiddink II/Conte, so I can't say much about earlier times, but that's exactly what I saw as well.

But neither the ginger cnut and Salah are anywhere near him as he's just as clinical as Salah when infront of goal and just as good as a passer as KDB.
Neither of this (if we consider Salah's last season form as his level) is true.

Not sure why you call KDB ginger cnut. Also I believe Hazard is the more talented player but De Bruyne is absolutely on his level, if not directly equal or better

He has a younger brother who plays football as well, doesn't he? Any good he?

He's got three younger brothers.

Thorgan Hazard plays for Monchengladbach and the Belgian national side (he was at the world cup but didn't get on much).

Kylian Hazard is a Chelsea player but on loan in Belgium (I've seen him a few times for our U23a and he does not look anything special).

Ethan Hazard is only 15 and at some French side's academy.

Both his mum and his dad were professional players.

Sneijder and Ribery would have won it under the current voting criteria. And Hazard won't be up against players as good and as consistent as Messi and Ronaldo all his career.

I think Modric will win this year too for what its worth.

I am ready to bet my house that Hazard will never win a Ballon d'Or.
