Very good point. Bringing spinsorship to manchester united is like luring sailors into a brothel. There are many finance and marketing men who could do the same. Just like there are many who could do an infinitely better job bringing football success to the club.
Said it before and really someone should do it: Take about ten posts or so like the above and sticky them or whatever.
You need to actively educate those among the fanbase who are inclined to see the suits/fancy cars/big numbers and just go 'well, I can't do it so...'
There should be absolutely zero people among the fan base even mentioning 'financial guru/genius/whiz'
Leveraging a huge brand into sponsorships is a lot like playing see-saw with a toddler when you're Godzilla.
You need to get the 'average-bloke' fans acutely aware of this.
Finally a pundit calling out that fanny pack wearing cnut. Just doing it on the wrong side of the pond. Surely Neville and Rio know he is a problem yet they remain silent.
Neville has done in the past and there was some passive aggressive comments about maybe getting it right this summer after 7 attempts when they cut to him in the crowd.
The biggest issue I personally have with him is the decisions he has made regarding our new Managers.
I wasn’t a fan of the Moyes appointment, I didn’t see it as a good fit, and his lack of experience at the level we were at back then AND following Sir Alex was almost certainly doomed to fail. He spent money in Fellani and Mata who I dont see as united players. Not that they weren’t good players at their current clubs but had playing style that didn’t suit us. The signing of Fellani, saw us play Plan B ‘hoof’ ball for next 5 years.
LVG was another Manager I wasn’t happy with. Of his signings (and he made a lot), how many are still here? No long term solutions. Too many quick fixes and a style of football that once again we were not used to seeing which immediately got fans on his back. Right now we’re crying out for a right back and we let go of Raphael and let Young continue. Great.
Jose. Well, everyone other than Ed seemingly knew what you get with him. Which is short term management. Spend money, usually win, move on. Unfortunately as with his other clubs, players clashes ensued and that was the end of that.
Ole. Started well. Ended the season bad but I’ll support him and give him as much of a chance as I gave the others. He at least needs a window or two of his own. Experience at this level worries me but I’ll comment on this when he’s had a chance.
The one thing I can’t criticise him for though is spending money. We’ve always spent money. A lot of money. It’s just been spent badly and that surely falls on the managers not him?

I will have more respect for him if he doesn’t give Ole the rebuilding job. We are Manchester United, we used to be amongst the top clubs in Europe. Ole doesn’t look like the guy that will take us back there, so no need getting him players based on his recommendations that our next manager might not want. His next assessment is who he will appoint as our DoF. I don’t think Phelan or Ferdinand will be the right choices(Rather Ferdinand our of the two), but let’s see first who the candidate are.

Explain what he's doing in particular, because all I've seen is millions of sponsorships ie. Smaller business approaching us.
The guys that work in marketing at the noodle companies that have managed to get their name plastered on front of millions are the ones doing a great job.
He's been an unmitigated disaster really. He'll be remembered for years to come for what he's done to us.

I’m not going to do that. I don’t have the time, data, or will. But mate, you’re losing your marbles here. There can be a middle ground. Woodward needs to go, for rational reasons. Making preposterous, unfounded statements just makes you look like a mouth frothing loon.
Except they are not. People love to make the assumption that just because someone is in a position and does well in certain aspects that no one else could do the job as well.
As mentioned Manchester United is do big that they are getting approached by companies all the time for sponsorship deals. And when they go out it’s an easy sell as opposed to smaller clubs who have no leverage.

Sorry, spent the last 5 mins thinking about our donkeys playing pep's football.
Tbf to our current manager, we did go on a brilliant run which included spurs/psg/pool/Arsenal away/Chelsea away. Everyone played through their skins and peaked after that PSG win.
During our current bad run we have faced Barca (2)/City/Arsenal away/Wolves(2) away. Barca and city I simply don't think we're good enough to beat whether its Ole or pep with this squad. Arsenal and wolves and today we simply missed to many easy chances to have any chance of winning the game. We have been toothless which is to be expected since without lukaku (whose been shit) we haven't got any players scoring 20+ goals a season.
If we were to continue on our good run and include the likes of Wolves away/Arsenal/City/Barca/Everton away then All fingers point towards Jose and it certainly wasn't all his fault. We simply don't have a quality squad to sustain a good run through out the season, was the same with jose play good for a while then collapse. Only positive during this bad run is we have missed sitters most games and could have won those games if not for crappy finishing. Hopefully during the summer we can clear out our trash (
not gonna happen) and buy some quality players, we might see some consistency in our performances. Whether pep could have or not (Don't think he could turn Rashford/lukaku/martial into Augero), have no idea.
If he wanted to nail it he should have said: They don't care about trophies. They care about the financial aspects.
But still, better than nothing.
Only Neville and Scholes are inclined to do that. Rest of the former players are involved with the club in some capacity or another(£££).
We can talk about Woodward all day long but attention would be best spent on the people who keep him in a job. They are the real cancer and always have been.

Look at the job CEO Edwin van der Sar and DoF Marc Overmars are doing at Ajax. If the Glazers were smart business owners, spending big for a proven management team like VDS and Overmars should be their top priority.

Think you’ve got this wrong - they are happy with their man because their priorities are being met. Utd continue to make money hand over fist. What happens on the field is of no consequence to them.
They will always be the problem until they are gone.

He's basically piggy backing on our name. I'm sure there's a hell of a lot of people that could keep our revenues high, just keep doing what we've been doing for years, collect all the extra money being thrown at us by sponsors/tv/PL/UEFA. What would be a good job is recognising that the football club has no structure. The guy is a CEO and it sounds like we're a shambles behind the scenes. He's doing a very bad job.
Yeah most probably. I think the fans could make life uncomfortable for him, possibly resulting in change. It's a long shot though.
Bingo! I think even Neville and Scholes wouldn’t criticize Woodward directly. They are probably always thinking about a potential role with the club. They will never burn the bridges.
