Ed Woodward 2019 - Until all Arctic ice melts edition

Not sure if I'm allowed to post this tbh, but I recommend watching from the 02:05 - 03:50 mark.

It's up to you if you want to believe the guy are not. I personally do. It is jaw-dropping yet somehow still still believable.

Ya as if Judge is going to a meet a player he doesn’t know the name of. It’s pure rubbish.

RT’d

We are an absolute joke. I used to think they had a plan and were at least prepared to invest whatever it took to get us back to the top. Now I don’t believe either. I can’t support this regime anymore.

There is no planning at boardroom level. They react to things. Absolutely no plan at all.

When Moyes came in, there was no succession plan, even though they had time to put one together. Fergie left, Moyes came in and f***ed it all up.
In panic, they quickly interviewed candidates and got LVG. Fair enough.
When they saw Jose available, they got him. Fair enough. But when Jose was hired, they should've had a plan to hire Jose to take us to the title in the 3rd year and then have him replaced by someone who plays more attractive football. Instead they gave Jose the reigns, he got us 2nd place and was ready to for the title in his 3rd season and they pulled the plug on funding his ambition. That was never going to go well, as Jose wants to win. Eventually, they reacted and fired Jose.
When the media was calling out Woodward for having a dreadful transfer window, he reacted by saying that he will hire a DoF (time has proved this to be a lie). The idea was to spin the story about DoF, to keep the media off his back.
Ole was employed to bring the feel good factor back. To bring back Fergie's values...which he did. Woodward reacted by giving him the job. Even before that time, Ole started losing.
This brings us to now. So far, we have signed a player from the Championship. I have no idea who else we will sign, but I am not holding my breath.

The problem is that because we make increasing amounts of money, year on year (no matter how much we lose), Woodie will keep his job. The only thing which would bring change is if we either got relegated or narrowly escaped relegation.

Woodward is doing what the Glazers want him to do and that is make them money. They don’t give a monkeys how successful the club is on the park.
Yes this is the problem. The Glazers probably can't believe their luck that they have not be ousted yet.

I feel like it's coming up to that point of the summer now where things start turning ugly for Ed. There's a storm brewing and he's going to get torn to pieces this time. This transfer window will 100% set the tone for the season. If it's another bad one then i don't think it will be safe for him at OT next season.

How do you expect the Glazers to be ousted? Serious question.
I think we could be coming to selling time

we've peaked financially perhaps, our social media interactions are met by angry fans venting, we could lose our most productive players in recent years in Pogba, De Gea, Lukaku and Herrera and not replace them well, we could slip to mid table, suddenly we arent the money making machine the Glazers want with the brand tarnished with shit football

The Glazers have options at this point - decide this is peak value United and sell or Invest in the team and show you are in it for the long term - I think they are done

Just need to find a buyer with about £4bn or so then, should be easy - not. No evidence there’s anybody that’s really interested.

If I am Ed, I would hire Rio and Evra as part time consultants to get deals done in this window.

Rio can look into buying/ selling of English players and Evra can do the same for continental players esp in Italy and France. As we are linked to so many french Speakig players Evra could be a big help in convincing players.

My list for all positions

  • Bruno/Maddison/Brooks
  • Rabiot/Barella/Ceballos
  • Partey/Ndombele/Aouar
  • Richarlison/Pepe/Costa
  • Barca Dembele/Sancho/Hirving
  • Werner/Haller/Dybala
  • AWB/Cancelo/Meunière
  • Delegit/Koulibaly/Toby

One player from each line + Aaron and Longstaff.

By selling Lukaku/Pogba and other players like Alexis/Baily/Rojo/Darmain/Smalling/Jones/Matic/Fred/Lingard, we could accommodate the Transfer fees of net less than 200 millions for all these new signings and we don't have to spend that much in next 5 years !

Can ED do this?

Seen this mentioned quite a few times in the last few days? Where has it come from? Joke if true.

ESPN i think, wouldn't surprise me though if it only is 100M net. Seems like Woodward is counting on some funds from player sales, which would explain the catious approach in the transfer market so far. Never believed for one second the Glazers would give Ole 250M net to spend, even less that they would put the sales money on top of that.

We'll have 100M net spend most likely when the summer is over, hopefully we'll adress the more urgent areas of the squad, but honestly, I have very little faith in the people running this club.

How long more must we go through this shite? Biggest wage bill in England..

I think things are getting better Guys. I feel Ed likes to take one final swing before he hand it over a DF next season so he might want to use this window to redeem himself? he rejected Bale which speaks volumes as it proves he got his priorities right this season. Neymar is available but we are not even linked which is good.

  • Reports claim we are now the front runners for Ndombele as he agreed personal terms with us.
  • It seems we are in far more advanced position with AWB.
  • Bruno links are very positive for last few days and his agent is also in England to finalise the deal.
  • Now Maddison wants to talk to UTD.

I have this feeling a serious hunt is going on for Central Defender, now Maguire picks city I think we will get more serious with this, Italian press already reported that we have tabled an offer for Koulibaly and also it's bit strange that suddenly Deligt situation went quite, I wont be surprised if Ed pulls it off as he could take it as a personal glory winning over Barca/PSG/City/Pool/. He loves to do that. Isnt it ?

Even you take 20% of the transfer news coming out in press are true then we mean business in this window as we are being linked to good players like Rabiot/Tielemans etc, so I am confident. Pplease have some patience and we will rejoice.

If Woodward thinks that man utd will continue to remain a cash cow without significant investment , he's got another thing coming.

He's the epitome of a power hungry, yet idiotic boardroom figure that just refuses to see the light.

He's as toxic as mourinho but just that him hiding behind the manager has shielded him so far.

Though I have a strong feeling that's about to end this season.

It's a good question as well. here's m thoughts:
1)The green and gold campaign was closer than you think to finishing them off as owners. We weren't winning then but we weren't in the mess we are in now. Another campaign could do the trick. It will bring to the world's attention the atrocious state of affairs we have to endure.

2) A huge slice of the premier league's revenues come from Manchester United. We are not only a cash cow for the Glazers, but English football as a whole. If the club declines further and we become a mid-table team it will harm the premier league even if it doesn't harm the Glazers. If the premier league is on the supporter's side and wants United back winning things (or even being watchable), then we could start to create a hostile environment for the owners. New rules regarding responsible ownership could force them to sell up.

I hope you are right mate, currently the club does not even have access to the funds it generates. I am looking forward to seeing the reception Ed Woodward receives at Old Trafford next season.

Certainly describes this window perfectly. I think Ed's just being a complete fecking idiot and bidding unrealistically low and pissing people off.
He is a puppet for the Glazers, and one of the Glazers (probably Avram, not sure which one) is the one who is making the decisions. They do not interfere in football matters? No they do not interfere in football matters, because they make the football decisions. And puppet Woodward carries out the orders. And we have all seen where that has got us.

The crowd did chant about the board when jose was supposed to be sacked against newcastle. It could get ugly next year

That's exactly the sort of thing which was said last Summer (when we bought....Fred).
Woodie is trying his best to save money and I am shocked that some people cannot see this.
I've seen some Youtube videos who have stated that our net spend for the last 3 transfer windows (excluding this one), has been c£70m, so roughly £25M per window. I am not sure about this (someone needs to fact check this), but if this is true, it tells us all we need to know.

Woodward needs to be the relieved of his footballing duties. Until that happens we will always be struggling to break into the top 4, unless we hire a magician manager, who pulls a rabbit out of the hat. While Jose was motivated to do this, he did. But when he lost motivation, he left us in 6th place (at the time of his sacking, I think that's where we were).

Hmmm... 3 windows is such a daft way of putting it though @sunama when two of them are January windows. No-one really spends in Jan. We however did, in one of those windows we made probably our biggest ever January signing after just spending a shit load in the Summer before it.

Last Summer was a joke, this January was too soon for Ole especially considering how hard Jan is for signings.

Proof will be in the pudding this Summer, it’s the first one in which insignificant investment tells us without any doubt that the owners are happy with simply battling it out for fourth at best.

Ed, you should try shaving properly. The half beard look never worked on you.

Good points, good sir.

Was it hell as like. They probably had a good chuckle about it.

Keeping dreaming mate.

It is a cycle. When United do not get into the CL and do not give a fight the fans will turn on them and also the media will turn on them and that is going to be the catalyst.

The way its going, we are certainly headed further downhill this season, which will force some change, I reckon.

By appointing ole and not backing him, Ed is digging his own grave. Cause unlike all our previous post SAF era manages the people love ole and desperately want to see him succeed.

The crowd did chant about the board when jose was supposed to be sacked against newcastle. It could get ugly next year

And that was Jose Mourinho.

Imagine the commotion if Solskjaer is on the verge of a sack after a summer of under investment followed by a bad season.

Ole's a club legend, and miles more likeable than Mourinho.

I think it's looking very likely that next season will be an uncomfortable one for Woodward.

Utd and Real Madrid are both on rebuilding missions this Summer. So far Real Madrid have signed 5 players, we've signed 1. Real Madrid are prepared to pay what it takes to get the player they want, Woodward considers it an affront if he has to pay what it takes.

Mourinho came very close to exposing Woodward for what he is, but couldn’t quite keep it together. Then came the hit pieces against him in the media surely planted by the board, and for a while everyone agreed Mourinho was completely at fault and Woodward saved us from his lunacy by refusing to sign a defender.

Mourinho failed in his own right, but we’ve ruined the reputations of 3 managers now. And there’s one common denominator: Woodward and the club structure which he is ultimately responsible for.

Once again the wool is being pulled over our eyes.
Loads of money to spend on rebuild, My arse.

Hope someone comes in, and buys this club ASAP

But but... we can do things in the transfer market other teams can only dream of, right?
Yeah, paying over the odds for average players. We have the lowest points-per-pound-spent ratio in the Premier League. 20th.
