Gaming EA FC 24

Hilarious. And they want 80$ every year for this game. I bought my very first FIFA game last year just to see if any improvements were made to the career mode and it was very obvious they didn't put a single thought in it in like years. I started a player career in League 2 and even before the first season ended PSG came in for me and bought me. Fecking pathetic. Never buying EA games again.

Its a pile of shit. It amazes me people still buy it and some even defend it. My 9 year old stepson today put on FIFA 18 and couldn't believe how it was basically the same game as this (he plays EA FC24 at his dads). Thankfully he doesn't want it for his birthday anymore.

Yea, I bought it at a heavily discounted price of 30$ and still felt ripped off. For comparison, I bought Witcher 3 for 15$. Best investment I ever made.

EA can go feck themselves until they improve that horrible career mode(both manager and player). It's so easy to get overpowered in career mode as players who retire are immediately regenerated with very high rating as a free agent. You see a 19 year old with 90 rating(was Benzema who retired) as a free agent or like I said earlier, player in League 2 getting bought by PSG who proceed to start me immediately. It's so immersion breaking.

FM does career modes so much better. Hopefully with the Unity engine in FM25, their graphics start looking good as that's the only thing they lack from FIFA.

I've not played since FIFA 18 but just bought a PS5 (which happened to come bundled with FC 24), and my first thoughts were that it was essentially the same game, and plays almost identically.

UT is dead already.

I'm already at the point where I get my 7 rivals wins then don't touch the game.

I saw a video on this that showed there's not enough international teams to have a full "World Cup" competition, is that true?

I think that Brazil aren't even in the game...

Most sports games are fairly close to previous iterations.

Football Manager every year is almost identical with a few new small changes and player updates. But people still love the game.

I play FIFA because I like the competive nature of playing a football game online. I don't really care if it's any different to the previous one, because if I just continue to play earlier versions there is no one online to play against.

I've not actually checked the game itself but I googled it and apparently there are only 30 men's international teams. Brazil are not one of them.

AFC - Qatar
CAF - Ghana, Morocco
CONCACAF - Mexico, USA
CONMEBOL - Argentina
OFC - New Zealand
UEFA - Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, England, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Scotland, Spain, Sweden, Ukraine, Wales

You can't even play a Euros either, and it's a Euros year.

I'm assuming they'll add more teams because this is shocking.

It's not gambling because you aren't risking your money to try and earn money.
You don’t understand what gambling is.

https://www.britannica.com/topic/gambling
“gambling, the betting or staking of something of value, with consciousnessof risk and hope of gain, on the outcome of a game, a contest, or an uncertain event whose result may be determined by chance or accident or have an unexpected result by reason of the bettor’s miscalculation.”

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gambling
Gambling (also known as betting or gaming) is the wagering of something of value ("the stakes") on a random event with the intent of winning something else of value, where instances of strategy are discounted. Gambling thus requires three elements to be present: consideration (an amount wagered), risk(chance), and a prize.[1]

Consideration: Money spent on packs
Risk: Chance of not getting anything of reasonable value
Prize: Cards of high value

https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/47057859.amp Belgium agrees and EA have not contested that ruling.

So EA one of the largest developers in the world isn’t confident they could prove their system isn’t a form of gambling in court.

The only difference with gambling on fifa is that it doesn’t matter how much you win. You lose it all every September anyway and give them another £60-90 for base game to do it all again.

Stupidity tax

I think someone mentioned it but if you hold onto R1 you can literally dribble from like the halfway line to final third and the opposition AI players will just stand there I gave it a go a few times yesterday

So in social circles, social media, reviews etc etc...I've not heard one single person simply say this is a good game.

I'm not missing out on anything by refusing to buy it this year right?

I find myself considering it, but then completely shelve the idea when considering the near £60 spend on more of the same, with a few additional features which are of zero interest to me anyway...does that sound about right?

Reviews from 'mainstream' reviewers seem to be glowing, yet majority of smaller reviewer's on YouTube or online seem to be giving it shocking reviews.

Worst EA game I've ever played and that's saying something considering the last decade of releases.

Decided to check back in with those who are trying anything other than FUT.

Legendary is just broken. It also seemed to make my AI players worse, particularly defensively. Literally never tracking runners and the turning speed of a slug, so every opponent through ball basically led to a goal.

Free kicks near the box were basically penalties for them too.

Thought I'd give UT a go. Went 1-0 up in my first game and the opponent immediately quit. Was 3-0 up at half-time in my second and that opponent quit too. Was 2-0 then 3-1 down in my third, made it 3-3 in like the 84th minute and that opponent also quit.

Glad I didn't pay for this. I'll be installing PES 2021 on my PC again soon at this rate.

There was an article from an insider that basically confirmed the engine they use is broken, and no one knows how to repair it. The only solution is a new engine, which the same morons are working on. From what I gather, the article was fact, not speculation. Yet people still bought the last game, and this game, despite knowing with certainty that it was broken. Weird.

I thought I’d just suddenly gotten really shit at fifa but I’ve always been a DIV 1 player and offline even with detrimental sliders have been able to play on hardest difficulty and win more often than not but yeah defenders are just letting players walk by despite me jockeying and attempting tackles with players like Varane.

It’s meant for the first time since about Fifa 2005 I’ve dropped down to world class. And now I’m having to play around with sliders to make it harder to find the balance.

It’s so frustrating that the offline experience is so neglected given that it was originally the selling point of the game.

I remember reading something similar. Something along the lines of there are so many bugs they don’t have time to properly test out and fix that they end up building on poor foundations the more they add to it.

Honestly, every game I've played on Legendary has ended something daft like 7-5.

Add in the stupid career mode bugs and stupid objectives, and you have to wonder what the hell they've been up to.

yeah it was an article and opinion from a credible source without anyone refuting it, it got posted all over, yet somehow, it fell on deaf ears. The amount of money this game continues to make is a perfect case study for addictive behaviour.

It’s literally a monopoly.

The career mode is still a shambles, as stated by plenty already.

Madrid offered 80M for Hojlund, sold. Then they come back and offer me a part exchange player plus 15M for Casemiro.

The player they offer?

Hojlund.

Packed Neymar from a random 2 player pack.

Got Neymar, Foden, Benzema, Nkunku in offense now. Kante and bruno in midfield.

Gvardiol, Dias, Ibanez, Reece James in defence, I can't stop winning eversince.

This weekend is going to be sweet. That is my pack luck for the rest of the year, at least it will set me up with a great team for the rest of the year.

Are there any football games out there with a good career mode? At this point I don’t care about image rights and so on. Just want to play with a club and develop my own youth players.

That's great business

Need some help myself as I can't stop loosing. How is gavardiol, bruno, foden and nkunku?

New FM looks to have fixed a few long term bugs so that’s what I’ll be going with.

But I can’t actively play with my team there, right? I like Manager games. They are great. But every now and then I’d just love to play FIFA as it once was. Guess these times are gone. Either collect digital stickers or be left out.
I feel so old and redundant. :(

Yeah I'm the same. It's sad. So much of the world of football I used to enjoy has been ruined by greed.

I have been playing FIFA since FIFA 96 (Showing my age), and this is the first year i can remember that I wouldn't have purchased it. I only play ultimate team, the career mode and online seasons modes haven't appealed to me in years, since ultimate team has been around at least. There's something about competing against others that vs CPU modes can't match imo.

However, the game hasn't changed in years, and the fut mode has become so saturated with promo players and ridiculously long grinds that i just don't have the will to waste every evening of my life trying to keep up.

If the price ever comes down to £25/30 ill maybe get it. Im not too bothered. I'm looking forward to the new Modern Warfare coming out, and will play Avatars new game aswell.

I play on ultimate mode and it’s just bizarre. You can get the ball with someone like Wan Bissaka and just run past everybody, every single time. Then you get the likes of Forest just knocking it around and smashing it in, impossible to defend against. In my career mode so far I’ve beaten Wolves 6-4, lost 4-3 to Spurs and beaten Forest 7-6. Ridiculous.

The game has really gone downhill in certain ways over the years.

I recently found this https://www.pessmokepatch.com/2023/09/spfl24.html It's a free mod based on PES 2021, updated with recent transfers etc. You can also add extra mods. I've added a gameplay mod called Dream soccer which is really good.

Try sacking a coach, it will freeze the game
Noticed this on day one. Unbelievable that they haven’t fixed this yet. I think the gameplay this year is actually okay on career mode with the most recent sliders. You can score a better diversity of goals this year. However the bugs, menu glitches, exploits are a disgrace and to make matters worse many of them have existed in the game for the past 5 years now.

This game is hilariously unfinished. My kids were playing and one of their keepers just disappeared during a penalty and was missing then for the entire match. I mean he’s there but he’s invisible. It looks weird

Need some help myself as I can't stop loosing. How is gavardiol, bruno, foden and nkunku?
Gvardiol is a beast with shadow, I play him as LB and he's even good there.

Bruno is awesome, his passing is the best in the game with a catalyst. Ridiculous.

Nkunku is great with a hunter, fast, strong, agile, skilful and decent finishing.

Foden is always overpowered, his control, agility, left food and deceptive speed is a joy. Have replaced him with Diaby for now though, for Fut champs.

7/7 so far, hoping for a good weekend.

Is offline play remotely enjoyable? I'm thinking of buying it to play some Career Mode in my free time - how does it play against CPU?
Honestly save your money. If you’re offline mainly it’s just not good enough at the moment.

Wait for a few patches first because career mode is currently a mess of bugs.

I have managed to find one thing I like about the new gameplay and that is the controlled sprint mechanic but beyond that and the precision passing there are so many errors in the coding which just make career mode an absolute disaster right now.

Some decent ideas but just awfully executed.
