Gaming EA FC 24

Yes I clearly only play one mode, and you gauged all of that with one solitary post which was centered around adding women in Ultimate Team. Bravo!

FUT gets boring after a while and a lot of players move onto other modes such as Career/Pro Clubs. Biggest issue has been gameplay for past few years, where it's been too fast. This year, they have struck the right balance and added some skill gap when it comes to defending.

I disagree, I have really enjoyed the gameplay in Clubs/Career mode so far. Even had few H2H games with my friend using bunch of different house rules involving PL clubs. From what I am gauging, a lot of people want a Football Manager esque offline mode but with FIFA gameplay. It's a fair criticism that career mode hasn't really evolved in past few years, but that doesn't mean the rest of the game isn't good.
I’d like a women’s career mode. One where you can actually properly engage with women’s football transfers and teams.

Putting them into UT feels very much like a financial decision to dilute the top cards that people pay money for under the guise of inclusion. They are already in trouble across Europe for encouraging gambling style systems for those below legal age and maybe I’m just getting older and more cynical but this doesn’t feel like the progressive change it should be.

Maybe I’m expecting too much of the company maybe next year they’ll have a women’s career mode and add to the offline features that originally brought the series acclaim.

But more likely we’ll get a gambling card game with football on the side.

Has anyone else noticed how OP defending is, which is counter balanced by how poor the keepers are? You can defend 90% well, but the 10% slip ups that leads to a shot will more often than not be a goal. I dont think I have had a game end in less than 8 goals so far.

I feel like I'm horrible defensively but very good going forward but suck at finishing. Can't seem to tackle someone when they do any sort of precision dribbling or when they all start doing that drag back tiki taka thing around the box (which honestly just annoys me given how unrealistic it is but its what everyone does).

I wonder what happened to that guy

Use the X button to do any standing tackles instead of the O button. It works basically the same, but the O button is a massive lunge which if you miss takes your player out, whereas the new X button tackling just bodies people and your player keeps moving afterwards

The shot stopping is especially fake on this edition. I played a seasons match (we were both united) and my opponent’s Onana literally saved every damn ball from any and every angle I shot. In the end I had one goal out of 15 shots on target.

In career mode do the opposition teams suddenly have those bursts of play where they are super human and you can feel where no matter what you do they will score as it does in the last version?

It is also because the shooting is more difficult.

There’s one major thing wrong with the game. And I’m not touching it until they fix it. Not sure if it’s been mentioned previously. But hold down R1 and you can run the length of the pitch on ultimate difficulty and they won’t tackle you. I’ve got several videos of me scoring like this in the same game . It’s the most pathetic game they’ve made.

It definitely feels different to last years so far. Not sure how I feel, it’s definitely very tight which is great to see. Unfortunately, I wanted opposition AI dribbling to be nerfed, and a bit more clumsy defending from AI so there are a few more free kicks and penalties, none of that is there so it continues to be frustrating. It doesn’t feel like it wants players to do a bit more build up which I do really like and hope they keep that, though would want it to be more forgiving when under pressure on the ball.

Seems like the same old old crap from EA to me..
Players move on rails, to rigid in their structures, AI is awful, heavily geared towards short bursts of play and micro transactions still.

Just make a decent fecking single player mode for once.
Glad I didn't buy it.

Dammit now you've reminded me once again of the gem that was FIFA Manager.

I don't care what anyone says, that was a great game series.

Unbelievable series of games.

Match engine was FIFA but back when it was decent.

I remember it being bundled with an in-game editor, so naturally I changed the quality of Scotland's talent so it was better than Brazil's, made the Scottish leagues pay out twice the prize money of any other nation, shit like that.

Then rebuild Old Trafford in the stadium editor to a 95k behemoth with a fancy media center and lots of expensive executive suites. Sure, it was a little clunky at times but you could really make some nice looking stadiums.

Changing shirt designs every season, finding sponsors, marrying a doctor and having your children grow up to play for your team. Buy a fecking yacht and mansions with your saved up money. Losing it on the stock market (I think?). I genuinely loved those games, arguably moreso than the Football Manager series. Not to mention that I'm pretty sure it was just a small studio in Germany who made it, but they made it with pride.

But then EA canned it and now we're sat here a decade on playing card games, and being called gay by dipshit roadmen who are just upset because I've reminded them that I've pumped their mums.

Yeah, pretty sure it was from the same people that used to make one of the German football manager games, feck knows what it was called but I think they have started to make that game again.

Was awesome, loved watching the matches, loved the transfer system, the fact that you could build your managers personal life up, just felt like a fluid engaging football SIM, rather than a spread sheet.

Yup, it's a game breaking big for sure.
The AI won't go near you unless you run into them.

That, coupled with the appalling AI of your team mates in terms of positioning, making off the ball runs, decision making, it's just an abomination of a game, rather like FIFA has been for the last decade.

100%. Nothing more than me personally just losing interest in games that get whacky. Like when they bring out shape shifter cards and CBs become the best strikers on earth. Its just me, I just lose interest. I understand why they're doing it, they need to get female players in, but if they're kept separate then the women's ultimate team will die of death. So they're throwing them all together.

What? I loved my Rudiger card. Destroyed many a opponent with his unbelievable strength, pace and shooting accuracy. Kyle Walker in goal was great for me too

This used to happen to me a lot in fifa23, even in squad battles when I’m playing a team so very obviously miles worse than mine, like I mean a team full of silver and bronze cards and up 4-0 after 20 mins. They suddenly have burst of a couple of attacks where I can’t get near them and some random bronze card is leathering an unstoppable screamer top bins and I’m like who the feck is that fecker?

Not really paid any attention to this but let me guess...
Lots of new bells and whistles for ultimate team, but career mode is exactly the same as it was ten years ago?

If you take FIFA for what it is, as a arcade football game rather than simulator, it is a decent product that tries to recreate authenticity via its visuals etc.

For anything more sophisticated, we will have to wait for E-Football's Master League which will look half as decent but perhaps have more depth in terms of gameplay (after the litany of obligatory gameplay fixes/updates)

Everything is exactly the same,

You are still best off either playing FIFA 99 on an emulator or FIFA 2003, at least those games felt like football.

This was the same last year and is the reason I won't be buying it unless I know its been fixed.

It's not a minor issue it means the game is literally broken on single player

Its terrible single player wise. Can’t find any sliders to improve the Ai defence. They attack well but it’s to easy to score against them.

Starting to hate this now. Defending is too difficult for me, I can’t stop the opposition from getting the ball and cutting me open with through balls every time.

Right, played about 4 matches with my kids and they’ve been high scoring matches. Fun but something is a bit off. Don’t like the new corners.

Graphically some players are a joke

also the whole menu system lacks the polish of previous years. It’s been thrown together like the free version of PE

It's like anything else, it takes some time getting used to but then it isn't super bad.

Agreed with this, AI leaves too many gaps to pass through the center.

Career mode menus are broken too. Training plans are bugged so I’ve got players who I’m trying to get back fit who I’m receiving emails about their sharpness now being full.

It’s also bugging by not displaying information correctly.

On top of that defending just seems awful this season at both ends. AI goes from either being completely useless or impenetrable on a whim. As for my defenders some despite using jockey just allow players to blaze past them.

I'm enjoying the game, it's good entertainment so far. Only complaint I have is lag playing online - but I don't know if that is down to EA servers or a lot of people being idiots trying to play with a shit connection?

I wouldn't download this game if it was for free.

Can't believe people still buy this franchise.

Try sacking a coach, it will freeze the game

Will probably buy it when it's on sale but it's sad that sports games have gone down the toilet the last few years. NBA 2K used to be fantastic but ruined by microtransactions (and the fact they shut down older games). FIFA has been crap for years, because of microtransactions. Madden, well I haven't played it for a number of years but it's supposed to be crap so I'm staying clear.

Tennis games are awful and that's pretty much it for sports I follow. I have a PS5 but sports games on PS2/3 were way better and how does that make sense?

What I still don’t understand is why the UT bullshit is so popular. You’re spending your so much of own money on a trashy game after paying to buy said trashy game.

Its the dopamine rush from packing something amazing that creates the addiction, and then everyone is chasing that amazing pack pull. They do make earning packs easier every year, but they also dangle the carrot of 'shiny player pack only 100k coins or 200 fifa points'. Coins are less easy to come by, but coins are just a button press away

Hilarious. And they want 80$ every year for this game. I bought my very first FIFA game last year just to see if any improvements were made to the career mode and it was very obvious they didn't put a single thought in it in like years. I started a player career in League 2 and even before the first season ended PSG came in for me and bought me. Fecking pathetic. Never buying EA games again.
