Douglas Costa?

I just don't see why we are still wanting strikers.

Martial, Rashford Sanchez, Lukaku & potentially Greenwood & chong as forwards is enough.

Our problem is not a lack of attackers - it's a lack of an attacking system.

Seems like the right set up is everything for him. At Shakhtar he was obviously treated as a key player and shone, at Bayern he thrived under Guardiola but was then frozen out by the more conservative Ancelotti, whilst he did great when treated as a big player by Allegri at Juventus before Ronaldo came in and became the focal point.

I'll be impressed with the opportunism of this transfer if the fee quoted is correct, not like us at all.

If he’s not too expensive I would be happy to have him on say a 3 year contract. Get a few years of use out of him and can him when his legs start to go. By that time either one of our youth prospects will be ready to take up the mantle, or someone new will shown up worth us trying to get. My first choice for RW would be Dembele, but he seems to be starting to find himself at Barca again, so that may be off the cards for now.

The problem is a lack of quality. However, by the summer, numbers will also likely become an issue (assuming Martial and Sanchez move on, as most now seem to expect).

No thanks. The spitting incident this season is enough for me not to want him at our club.

The equivalent of signing a Diego Costa or Suarez. Good players but terrible behaviour which you don't want to associate with Manchester United.

No thanks. Why would we make a signing when we dont have a manager. I mean this is kind of the ridiculous s*it we have gone through for years now. What happens when the new manager comes in July and doesnt want him. They we have another asset on the books that we cant budge because he is on big wages. Club absolutely not sign anyone now unless either we have a sporting director in place who identifies targets as part of the club's identity, or we have a permanent manager in place who can choose the players we want. We need to get Ed of this you tube highlights reel quickly

the chance that he will be sold in January is 0, the chance that he will be sold next Summer at the price mentioned are also close to 0.
Costa had an injury right after the moronic incident and his suspension, that clearly affected his performances that till then had been great, in the last 2-3 games though he has come back playing very well and he is a key player to break tough games especially coming in from the bench when the opposing team is tired

I'm not much of an advocate for signing him either but this seems like a weird thing to get upset about when two of the most revered players at the club in recent times karate kicked a spectator and broke another player's leg on purpose.

He's alright but nothing special.

But better than our current right wing options given he's an actual winger.

Regardless, I'd hope we leave January well alone, pointless signing players the new people may not even want. If we get their advice behind the scenes then fair enough but a big no to Ole and Ed going on a shopping spree.

I think and maybe even hope we are moving away from shopping for any one particular manager. If we are appointing a director of football then presumably the recruitment will be based off whats right for Manchester United not just the current manager.

Beat me to it.

I'd happily take him. Inconsistent decision making but technically a step up from the wide options and attacking options in general we currently have.

£40m for him would be a very fair price for him imo. He's on the level of someone like Salah pre-Liverpool who with a bit of coaching could go up a level.

Is our tactic....if we keep buying South Americans, eventually one will be great??? Seriously we keep buying them and they either go missing or flop badly. The list was already as long as our honours list. Now we've got Alexis n Fred who have both done nothing to add to it. Admittedly its still early days for Fred but the signs so far haven't been great.

I'll pass on D Costa. I'd prefer to bring Memphis or Zaha back over buying him. Hirving Lozano an interesting option too.

Costa or Felipe Anderson? Given Anderson is getting a goal or assist a game currently

Plays better on the left as an outside dribbler. He's a bit clueless on the right as to where his end product is supposed to come from. We however have enough talent to play on the left.

Alex Sandro just signed a new contract until 2023, can't find anything about a new contract for Costa.

Edit: my bad, slightly drunk and on/off the internet while road tripping in the Philippines made me mix these guys up :wenger:

This happened after they were united players.

Would you actually want to sign Suarez??

I'm not sure I follow the comparison. I wouldn't, but that would still be the case irrespective of any baggage he carries.

Not good enough to be on an ideal starting XI, of course he would be an improvement on the current options, but I expect us to sing either world class players or exciting prospects. He is neither, there’s a reason why he wasn’t good enough for Bayern or Juve. Why should we settle?

Not at all amol. Pace to burn for sure, but he’s got great technique/dribbling ability. One of my favorite players actually - ever since I watch him for Bayern vs Arsenal a few years ago.

Quite inconsistent though, as mentioned above and he can also be a bit of a hot head. Would be a very good winger for us though, considering we barely have any natural wide players. And he can play on either wing iirc.
My bad, Ish. The little I've seen of him was from his time at Bayern where he started brilliantly but fell away. And I remember there being talk about him being a pace merchant/one note player, but I guess I was mistaken/haven't followed his career closely enough.

I am wary of signing 28/29 year olds though. If they start badly it tends to be a big waste of money. Like I've said before, Liverpool are City are signing players of the perfect profile - talented and just entering their prime years. I'd prefer that but of course you can only sign players that are available.

Costa has 3 year left on his contract non need for any renewal, Sandro's was going to end in 2020

Edited my post, mixed up the guys for a sec there, should probably stop using the internet while drinking.

100% with you though. Signing him, for me, would be more personal satisfaction than anything else  but I agree, it would be short term and we’re not even sure how or if the next manager would want or need him.

One things for sure though, he’d be a decent upgrade to what we have on the right.

We don't have a single RW, if we can get him for 40m it would be a good deal. Pulisic is another option that I would like here, I don't want him to go to Liverpool or Chelsea.

The only player we should possibly sign in January, without a DoF or permanent manager, is a top quality CB if one becomes available.

I love the idea it getting ole a winger at a reasonable price. We still have 6 months to play. I wouldn't like ole spending 150m but a few mil to help him is smart.

Roy Keane, Haaland. Look it up

Btw, i don't get where this not good enough for juventus comes from. Honestly, i think the only way they sell him in January is if you offer them Pogba in exchange
