Donny Van De Beek | he stays!

I admire your ability to retain interest beyond the call of duty.

I think I ran short of intrigue about a year ago when I realised he does the same thing every game.
This summer transfer window will be the most magical muppet ride of them all. VdB redemption, Neymar arriving on deadline day and Maguire going to WHUM in a swap deal for Rice + £60m

No thanks guys, we don't want him back at Ajax and Ajax won't be paying a lot of money for him. Can only see it happening when he will cost 5m max. With our new technical director (Sven Mislintat) he won't be stupid enough the buy Donny back. We know he's very average and only performed well in a team that was very good. Think you guys have to take the loss on this one, and just sell for a small fee or hope a dumb PL team buys him. I kind off feel for the lad, he's a nice guy but unfortunately just not good enough.

I don't think there's a dumb enough PL team out there, he's not built to play in the PL, Serie A or La Liga are his best options IMO

Surely there must be a semi-pro club out there who is interested

I just read United wants 23 million for Donny. Delusional, no one will pay this.

And idea and option:

Swap Beek back to Ajax with Kenneth Taylor. Taylor has all abilities to become a right foot Toni Kroos.

Taylor in short :
Versatile
Run a lot/high work rate
Very good with the ball
Have goals in his game
Good long shoot

If i was Ten Hag. I would do a swap deal for those 2.

Kenneth Taylor is on his way up. 22 years age and with huge potential. 8 goals in the league for Ajax. In his first full season for Ajax. And got picked up to the world cup squad.

This is my recommendation when it come to De Beek situation.

If you come out with strong statements at least back up this supposed article so we can actually review its reliability.

His game may suit Italian football. We asked for 23 but will settle around 15 I think. It's a good price for a decent midfield. He is not bad but just not good enough for Man Utd. I believe he will do very well in Dutch League if he went back to Ajax.

There must be a player somewhere in there. He can't go from playing at Ajax under ETC and coming here, later being coached by the same person, and be so bad.

What is it with United (or should we be saying the players coming to United) that puts this pressure on players that they turn into a dwarf of what they were (thinking Sancho / Maguire as well).

Agreed, no one will pay this after the 3 seasons he's had with us - should have lent him to Everton with an obligation to buy

It's fine to set a high asking price, as long as we're willing to negotiate down. Big "if" though.

I've heard lots of descriptions of Maguire but dwarf is a new one

I've seen Championship players go for around that. Unless you think he's worse than a Championship player.

With Mount coming in, it seems like we're moving from a 4-2-3-1 to a 4-3-3 with two mobile number 8s. With Bruno and Mount being the preferred #8s, Eriksen and one of McTominay, Fred or Donny can be the back up options. Given we don't have any back up for the #6 in Casemiro, it is interesting that we're linked with Amrabat. Though I'm sure this purchase would be dependent on selling 2 out of Fred, Mctominay and Donny. With Fulham possibly interested in Fred, would we prefer selling Mctominay for ~30 million or Donny for ~15 million (which also seems wishful)?

If McFred were to get sold, we could see Donny playing in the #8 position. Given that he's pretty useless as the #6 or #10 in the 4-2-3-1 and with a possible shift to ETH's Ajax formation, can Donny finally contribute?

Naturally, have listed quite a few caveats here but I wouldn't be too unhappy if we end up with Casemiro/Amrabat, Mount/Eriksen and Bruno/Donny as our midfield options.

Looks fine to me too. Although I'd prefer Fred as our 8 over Donny. He's actually decent in that role (most of the time). Donny's a ghost.

I kept believing there was a god player in there somewhere. he kept proving me wrong, although I guess it would help if we could have afforded to give him a run in the team... Maybe West Ham would like a deal: buy Maguire, get Donny half price

I would have both fred and mct over Donny. The guy just doesn't have the physicality, technical ability or mentality to play for united. As a back up Mct would do a better job than him and I'd rather Mct goes. Id also much rather give Hannibal a chance in that position as a backup/3rd option.

I think we would (and should) sell all three of McFred and DVB if we could. Mount and Amrabat together should be able to replace the minutes of those three and some of Eriksen as well. Mainoo can be given some minutes in League Cup and at the end of games that are already won. Both Fred and DVB would take up a non home-grown squad spot, and I don't think we need them as they are not suitable for what ETH is trying to achieve.

If we could sell VdB, I'd be happy to. But for poor sellers like us and for a player who has done nothing of note + been injured for more than 6 months, the best we'll get is a loan deal which will further reduce his value. I'd also have both Fred and McTominay ahead of him but both of them have a higher chance of raising us some funds. I do retain some faint hope that he may have regain a bit of his Ajax form given a potential change in system.

Yeah I'd rather see Hannibal backing up one of the 8's than DVB. Guy needs to move on for everyone's sake I think.

Last I checked, half of zero is still zero!

We've absolutely no use for him and I hope the club is actively looking for a buyer

He is an enigma for me because he actually had some good games when he played deeper and was more involved. I am however not a fan of second/shadow striker role that we used to deploy him (and Sabitzer).

I definitely prefer Fred over VDB, no doubts about it but we need to be a bit smarter on how to use van de Beek. I refuse to believe he is actually that bad.

Championship players don't earn £120K per week.......... That impacts the selling price

should be the first one out of the door, even on a free so we don't pay his wages, absolutely awful player.

Roumors of him coming to us on loan? Anyone heard anything from Man Utd’s side of things?, if so what’s he like? Don’t really know much about. Any information would be appreciated, thanks.

I doubt Celtic could afford his wages so unless United are paying a big chunk of them I can't see it TBH

When you find out what he is like, let us know, we never found out

He's like a ghost.

Thanks for your replies
He'll probably be decent at that level. At Ajax he played a role similar to Muller at Bayern. As an attacking midfielder who is not creative per se but good at attacking spaces created by other players movement. At united he's simply not been up to anything.

Not sure he'd be able to handle the physical side of Scottish football TBH, he has the technical skillset to succeed though

He isn't good enough to be a starter at celtic

Honest answer. We don’t know. He barely played and got like 5 min cameos or was injured.
Caf’s answer. Deadwood

Name one - £23m in the Champ represents the entire transfer budget of half the league Added together mate!
