You wonder if the media aren't just making the same mistake as in 2016. The one's who have a self-professed loathing for the GOP and Trump in particular. They gave him free advertising by concentrating on the absurdity of the personal clown show, which they now replicate by trials, and scandals, and all of these things, which, whilst important, have essentially zero value in the next year or so because he isn't going to prison. It just detracts from substantive policy debates where you might push the needle.

No, not them. Too far to the right (I'm sick to death of left, right, centrist metaphors, but you get it). But the ground which wins the election isn't Trump or Biden, it's the swing vote. That's the direction I'd be looking to steer the conversation in, and not making it personal shit-slinging (for every Trumpism, there is a GOP Hunter Biden or corrupt whatever response). Just a poor dialogue. You see the clip where Trump is asked about a specific policy within a specific state and has no idea what it means. That's where I'd take the conversation. He cannot swim in those waters because he's basically a stand-up act.
He won the presidency in 2016 with answers like that.
And of course he doesn't really have any policies, I'm still waiting to find out about this great health-care plan he claims he had

Goodish I think. I think this is close to the timeline Jack Smith's team wanted. Trump wanted it moved till after election.
TBH 10 months would be fairly normal I would think for a case like this, the primaries run until June 11 but I suspect the winner will be known before that date
It would definitely put a crimp in his campaign though, the Manhattan case will be done and dusted by then and we're still awaiting the other SC indictment and the Georgia state case, it's quite possible that from March to November he'll be in court

New polling today from Monmouth or Emerson has Biden +7 with no third party running, +3 with a third party running.
It's more because we know how team Trump operates (delay, delay, delay). So I'm thinking there's no chance this actually commences before election day.

Well this is the delay, the Feds wanted December and the judge has ruled May, it's going to be hard to delay it any further in this particular case, in a few weeks it's likely there'll be a further 2 trials scheduled
Yes, it is a lot better than I thought was going to happen. Especially from a Trump picked Judge.
His lawyers have already tried one motion to delay, no doubt they'll keep on trying. The hope being if he wins the election he can pardon himself.
I'll hope the trial commences on schedule and wraps up quickly but won't be holding my breath.

Something's gonna happen in Georgia in the next two weeks which could make your fear moot (or send us into a full blown constitutional crisis the following year).
