Donald Trump - GUILTY!

Amazing that Trump is doing the same thing in the lead up to his arrest as he did in the lead up to Jan 6th. And the likes of McCarthy are falling for it again.

It truly is the Party of Trump. If we weren't sure before Jan 6th, and if we weren't sure after Jan 6th, this is going to cement it. They really can't let go of him.
They would absolutely love to, I’m sure of that. The problem for them is that in an election cycle where 4-5% can be the difference between holding all three branches of government and or holding none - they can’t afford to alienate 20%+.

We are in the endgame. This podcast is 3 lawyers who discuss the peril Trump currently faces. One of the attorneys was the #2 in the New York DA's office for about 10 years. Something she says towards the end that is interesting is that this Stormy Daniels case is only the first of at least 3 cases preceding apace against Trump, with at least 3 Grand Juries having convened. This current case is actually hearing a witness on Monday, so the indictment probably won't come down until Thursday (based on what she was saying). This case holds the least personal jeopardy for Trump, and the other two (Georgia election interference, classified documents) hold far greater danger in terms of prison. The other 2 cases are watching and learning what happened in this first one. Trump is cooked.

It’s all about the mugshot.

Imagine the spectacle of the GOP’s leading candidate campaigning against the backdrop of just having been arrested.

N.Y. Authorities Prepare for Unprecedented Arrest of an Ex-President

He would be fingerprinted. He would be photographed. He could even be handcuffed.

And if Donald J. Trump is indicted by a Manhattan grand jury in the days ahead for his role in a hush money payment to a porn star, the former president of the United States of America will be read the standard Miranda warning: He will be told that he has the right to remain silent and the right to an attorney.

These are among the routine steps for felony arrests in New York. But the unprecedented arrest of a former commander in chief — one whose devoted supporters once staged a violent attack on the Capitol — will be anything but routine.

Last week, senior officials from the district attorney’s office and the state agency that runs the courts had preliminary discussions to plan for a possible indictment and arraignment. So did officials from the Police Department, which patrols the streets outside the Lower Manhattan courthouse, and the court officers, who handle security inside the Criminal Courts Building, where Mr. Trump would be arraigned.

And on Sunday, more than a dozen senior Police Department officials and two of the mayor’s top public safety aides held a virtual meeting to discuss security, staffing and contingency plans in the event of any protests, one person with knowledge of the meeting said.

After an arraignment, Mr. Trump would likely be released on his own recognizance because an indictment likely would contain only nonviolent felony charges; under New York law, prosecutors cannot request bail in most such cases.

Mr. Trump will almost certainly be accompanied at every step of the process — from the moment he is taken into custody until his appearance before a judge — by armed agents of the United States Secret Service, who are required by law to protect him at all times. Security in the courthouse is provided by New York State court officers, an agency with which the Secret Service has worked in the past. The chief spokesman for the Secret Service, Anthony J. Guglielmi, said he could not comment on any security arrangements for the former president.

Thank God I’ve blocked this cnut.

I've ditched my account all together, although I can still browse tweets. Musk recently switched policy on 2 factor authentication, where you can no longer 2 factor authenticate via text unless you pay him for the Twitter blue service. A good time to move on.

Will the secret Service also be babysitting him in jail?

He won't be in jail - he will likely get booked and then released after posting bail or a similar arrangement. He will still have to do a mugshot though.

he'll take that as a compliment

The last elections sorta changed that though didn’t it with most trump backed candidates taking a beating.

Imagine if his fingerprints turn up in the system for historical crimes.
