Maybe , but in this draft that is not guaranteed. You see the likes of Irwin, Cantona and Rep getting picked in R1 and someone will nudge the flow and end the GOAT trend sooner or later. I wouldn't be surprised if we had Gold tier players unpicked post R8 too.

Its not like you are not getting 8 of those 128 players or getting worst of those 128 players so I don't see how that affect anything.

I can see the point from both sides.. Though we got Laudrup in round 1 so can’t complain too much anyway :D

It only just struck me the rule should have been picking someone who played with the previous pick but NOT with the one before last. Wasn't that how it worked in the original chain draft? Would get you out of GOAT fields like this Milan side in no time.

Why not? E.g. Maldini wouldn't be feasible but Baresi played with plenty who didn't play with MvB.

You could only get deadlocked by a one club man who only ever played with the previous both for club and country but those scenarios are very very rare.

I thought about that but thought it would be too hard. Based on that in previous draft some team struggled to complete even one chain (I think it was Kazi who got lost in 50s), chaining 224 players would have been too hard. Also that rule was to ensure not one drafter gets the whole Milan team, which should not be a problem here.

There's bound to be an option, just not one you are too happy with (which is the point!). In fact, so far it would have only voided Irwin, Laudrup and Maldini and in all those cases there were plenty of options.

Ofcourse there are options now, its just the first round. I didn't made the decision based on any kind of research though so you could be right but its too early to call.
