There's not that much of an incentive to be cnutish really. The focus is on building the best team for yourself rather than making it difficult for the next manager given it's unlikely you will be drawn against them.

In hindsight it may have been more interesting if you had to play the play the team after you (would require a small alteration to the drafting mechanics).

Not ideal in this format as the snake will reverse after 7 picks and the manager who was first would most likely have advantage with the best players already picked in 7 turns.

True and I'm not saying that managers should be operating in any other way. It's more about all the fear-mongering beforehand that managers were going to get stuck down blind alleys, but the concept doesn't quite lend itself to shafting managers so it's probably quite unlikely.

Said it then it won't happen unless someone deliberately screws their own team as well. Had already played this format elsewhere and it had already gone down a worse no man's land by this stage but came out okay.

Thurram and a certain midfielder were my other 2 choices apart from Henry. Lead to Zidane all 3.
I can understand the rationale behind getting Thurram rather than Zidane though. Lots of GOATS still available for that position.
And most importantly, why would anyone want to fill that place before Diego goes away.

I guess the idea is to ensure a strong defence with the versatile Thuram (RB or CB depending the future available options).

Same rationale for Stoickhov.

Yep agreed - that's why I said you would need to alter the drafting mechanics slightly.

For instance you just rotate which of the pair gets to pick first each round i.e. pick one goes 1, 2, 3, 4 etc and pick two then goes 2, 1, 4, 3 etc. That would work.
 
A player of the 50s would have been an excellent starting point so that you get old-school players in the first rounds and modern players at the end.

If we are on the same page then I have had him with Platini in a previous draft, had a few options all rather similar in terms of quality so went with Amoros.
