I did once make a post about the whole issue of calling people Ihni binni dimi diniwiny anitaime, and I made the point that it was probably offensive to a lot of people.

This is just another case where if a mod does one thing it's wrong, but if they do the other thing, that's wrong too.

The point was made, but it's totally impractical to even think about making it a rule. This is a football forum, and there's a lot gets said here that might not be politically correct. Some of it we can control, but most we can't - and the majority of posters wouldn't want us to. So what do we do? Ban three quarters of the caf? To even be on a forum like this demands a pretty thick skin.

Agreed. Not to mention you cant use the word 'paki' in harmless banter because it clearly offends alot more people because it can only be used in one context. Spastic on the other hand is not really used in the same context at all, its used in a playful joke-about manner on here, like you cant associate crouch with the term 'paki' or any other racial terms but my calling him a 'spastic' we are not associating all spastic with crouch (god forbid) but just saying hes a twat or something. Im not trying to change people really - if you look at the start of this thread, what im actually trying to point out are the absoloute shocking double standards there are on here - im a big fan of level playing fields, which is what forums should be about really. Amusing thing is a lot of people have said that im being overly PC - when the irony is that im being the total opposite. The very concept of PC behaviour is about having one rule for some and one for others - a very good example is positive discrimination in recruiting for the Police.
For people to be castigated for supposed racist remarks is all well and good but when people use other terminlogy (which i can absolutely guarantee you is found to be very offensive by those who are physically or mentally disadvantaged - regardless of the "intended meaning" behind it) and its all fine and dandy..... now thats just wrong.

If anyone came down to one of the days out that are run they would understand exactly what i meant.

I never once said it had no link to its original meaning. I said it is used in a light-hearted context, don't go making up stuff. And its a completely different case to using a racial term. Also I have been down to severly inhibited chrilden days, albeit once from school and I went to a hospice loads when I was younger as my mum did voluntary work there and saw many disabled people there, but I am comfortable in using the term spastic on the internet as I am not using it in the same context at all, its like i might call someone gay and not use it to mean its homo meaning one single bit.

spastic is a word that originaly described people who suffered from disability and was adopted by kids at school to describe people who are not very bright.
