Man Utd sign established player between the ages of 27 and 30
Caf: Feck sake, why are we signing 50 year olds and not building for the future instead!
Man Utd sign talented youngster
Caf: Feck sake, what a joke, kid has barely played any games and I've never seen him paly so what can he possibly do for us
I absolutely couldn't agree more with this post. The idea that we can sign a lb, cb, 19 year old rb, cm, and winger and suddenly challenge for the title isn't the reality. We have a lot of young players that need patience to grow, it's not the end of the world if we don't challenge next season since we're so far off the mark, with players that are still establishing themselves. And, again, you'll see I've already mentioned this.
Regardless of how good Dalot may or may not become the simple facts are that he's a 19 year old kid who has very little senior experience, and what he does have has come in a vastly weaker league. He might go on to become a great player, but it's still ridiculously unfair on the kid to expect him to be good enough already to come in and perform at the level fans are demanding next season. Lumping expectation onto young players because of a failure to create an environment where they can be integrated into the team is precisely why attitudes towards youth become so toxic so fast. If we sign him, and I have no objections to signing him, there can't be any realistic expectations on him to be an immediate solution in the first team.
I simply can't square the circle that some people seem to think we should be challenging next season, but also happy with not addressing one of most glaring weaknesses in the squad. It stinks of some sort of entitlement that we should be competing because we're Manchester United rather than because we have a squad that's actually good enough to challenge.
And if we are attempting to build that squad by phasing out older players gradually and blooding younger players who need time to develop then that requires a patience which I've seen little evidence that our fanbase possesses.
Chelsea play with 3 at the back different situation. Also we dont need our CB's to cross we need quick fullbacks.
I am not talking about our CBs needing to cross i was just explaining how good Azpilicueta is!
If we only need a quick fullback then just keep Valencia... Uniteds problem is that we do not have any good crossers. That is why probably Dalot is wanted cause Mourinho wants someone to put the ball in the box and hit players like Lukaku on the head.
That is why United bid on Perisic last summer just because of the lack of a good crosser.
And, again, you'll see I've already mentioned this.

I think Woodward misunderstood when he asked Mourinho "who do you want? Bale, Alderweireld, Sandro, Fred?" and he replied "sign da lot"
I'm a theif....
I know, this makes sense. But for some reason, every time Valencia struts down the touchline with a ball in his feet, a part of me just gives up on that attack. I really want to see someone else playing RB next season. The Portuguese makes a ton of sense considering Valencia isn’t a liability at RB. He plays everyday and is sound but limited offensively but that’s not the end of the world. LB is in shambles in comparison and everyone at the club knows an instant starter is needed there. RB, not so much with Antonio being the excellent servant to the club he is, and this feels the right thing to do. Get a young and capable RB waiting in the wings and let the takeover be a natural process. Valencia is inevitably going to sit out games due to injury and I’m sure José will rest him time to time when he’s healthy as well. Dalot will definitely get his share of games and if he’s as good as advertised, the year after the position will be his. This upcoming season, I see a 50-50 or 60-40 split which is totally fine.

Then surely your ire should be directed at Mourinho? I said it yesterday but it's Mourinho who chooses to play Valencia every week. It's Mourinho who made him captain. And it's Mourinho who seemingly intends to go into the new season with Valencia being supported by a 19 year old.
Basically, Mourinho thinks Valencia is good enough to be playing for a team challenging for honours. And in his defence (a rarity for me), I think most managers would agree with him.
2 then.

I know that but I mean that he used to try to aim at his striker inside the box, Rooney managed to score many headers thanks to his crosses. Somewhere down the line, he went from a man who tried to pick up players inside the box to one who just hammers balls inside the box that are difficult to score from.Valencia had that explosive burst of pace which allowed him to get space ahead of defenders to whip in a low and fast cross. Since he lost that extra pace he has become terrible.
Newspaper O Jogo, whose front page you can see attached, has the complete explanation why the deal isn’t being done immediately. They claim that the release clause can only be triggered after the 1st of July, so United are actually working to make the signing before that.
Just like Manchester United would rather get the player soon and avoid the competition, or giving him the money to pay for the release clause, Porto also prefer to sell him before the end of the financial year, which finishes on June 30.
So the clubs should end up finding an agreement for the same amount as the release clause, or something really close to it. This is not a problem, but it will take a few days more than simply triggering the clause.
I never have an issue with signing young players, specially if they're promising (duh) but I cannot shake the feeling this means in some way, Mourinho has been satisfied with Valencia's season and is ready to keep him as his starting RB for next season. In order to make big changes, we need to start phasing some serious players (serious as in who play a lot despite their 'past-it' state)
Valencia had a great first half to the start, it was the second half where he seemed to completely burn out. After a full summer's rest this season we'll probably see him at a good level again for the start of the season and by the time we get to January, Dalot may have been phased into the starting 11 in time for Valencia's mid season burnout.I never have an issue with signing young players, specially if they're promising (duh) but I cannot shake the feeling this means in some way, Mourinho has been satisfied with Valencia's season and is ready to keep him as his starting RB for next season. €20m isn't Dalot of money these days to be fair.
Second reply too. Everyone else in here is just a pretender yo.Clicked on this thread because the name amused me, then scrolled slightly down and saw this:
Yeah that's enough of a pun to let me know this kid is the real deal
Sometimes you have to suck it up and accept it when it comes to young players though. If the club think this kid is potentially good enough to justify another season or two with Valencia then I'm all for it. I'm a bit fed up of us trying quick fixes and them failing anyway. Nobody wants another fecking Darmian.I never have an issue with signing young players, specially if they're promising (duh) but I cannot shake the feeling this means in some way, Mourinho has been satisfied with Valencia's season and is ready to keep him as his starting RB for next season. That is what worries me. Ivanovic became a parody and a liability towards the end.Remember that Ivanovic played until his legs came off.
If that is the plan then Dalot must be a special kinda talent because it would still be too early IMHO for him to be ready to pick up the mantle.Valencia had a great first half to the start, it was the second half where he seemed to completely burn out. Why you gotta go with the worst possible example in Darmian ? Anyway, my issue isn't with signing a promising youngster, it's keeping the underperforming older ones. There comes a time when we need to cut our loses and Valencia has been at the club for way too long as a starter.Sometimes you have to suck it up and accept it when it comes to young players though. Been at united for 9 years, what's there to study you're right.I see so many people saying it will be good for him as an understudy to Valencia. I am still trying to figure out what is there to study from Valencia?

I think we're more likely to play Young over Valencia at RB.I never have an issue with signing young players, specially if they're promising (duh) but I cannot shake the feeling this means in some way, Mourinho has been satisfied with Valencia's season and is ready to keep him as his starting RB for next season. Deal almost done... Then it's next week... Next week we'll be preparing a bid
