The thing with Dalot is, he's one of the players in our squad who I'd say is legitimately just not very good, with zero excuses.

Some of our players are actually good (Bruno, Ugarte etc...)

Some of our players were good in the past, but are now over the hill (Casemiro, Eriksen etc...)

Some of our players are good but inexperienced (Garnacho, Mainoo, Yoro, Amad etc...)

Some are good in specific roles but struggle when asked to do something different (Maguire, De Ligt, Mazraoui etc..)

Dalot has no excuses. He's poor whether he's played RB, LB, RWB or LWB. He should be at the peak of his powers. He's played top flight football for four or five seasons now. Yet week-in, week-out, he absolutely stinks the place out. Poor and lazy defensively and non-existent as an attacking threat.

He had that one season he won PotS almost by default. Few steady away games at full back and he avoided the brunt of the fans ire in a shocking season - but he's really just a genuinely average/poor footballer.

You've never been in a team down to 10 men having to fight desperately to hold on to a much needed win and 3 points, and won a throw in the closing moments of a game to allow a chance to waste a bit of time which basically signals game over. You've never celebrated this?

Nope and I've been in that position quite a few times, you just get on with the game. It's not something I've ever done or ever would do.

Chest bumping and high fives for winning a throw is loser behaviour.

Ok so he's only allowed to be running around encouraging people and celebrating defensive actions keeping the ball out of his net when his own performances merit it. Got ya
Glad I could be of service :)

The worst footballer at the club. in a two minute spell, he played a hospital pass BACK INTO his own box, and then shortly after, dribbles inside and plays a pass that was at least 5 yards behind his intended target, straight to an Ipswich player. I have no idea what that dribble was he attempted in the second half either, but it looked akin to a baby deer trying to dribble on a frozen pond.

Have had it with this guy. People talk about him having had a few good seasons at the club, but I honestly struggle to recall moments from him, or who these so called great performances were against. A lot of the crap players this team has had, you still remember their actual good perfomances, e.g. Memphis v that Mdijtland team or whatever they are called. When has Dalot actually had a game where he's been influential? His numbers are atrocious, his passing is laughable, he is an absolute cringe of a player and he has the stupidest celebration at the club. The fact that this guy had the nerve to even practice a celebration irks me.

Some want to convert him to a RCB? Why???? HE doesn't win aerial duels, he sells himself too easily defensively and never wins possession back when players face him up, and he would set the all time record for most back passes to a goalkeeper.

This player is an absolute dud and for me, the most symptomatic of everything that's wrong on the field these past few years. He's a continued liability.

Man Utd 1:1 Fulham New
Good assist and I always feel confident he'll score a penalty. Other than that, average performance.

His penalty was good. Apart from that, as dull as always. On the same level as the rest of the team though so he didn't stick out.

spot on. He deserves credit for the assist and penalty, but his overall performance was really average and has been below average lately. Cant be a starter next year

Dalot gets a lot of stick here.

Fact. He is absolutely hopeless at cross the football. Odd, because it isn't a very difficult skill. The ball is generally rolling and you just have to bang it into the middle and hope people get on the end of it. If you are better you can actually aim for people. He simply doesn't seem to be able to do this.

But, he seems to have a lot of good attributes. He's quite quick, good at tackling, good close ball control, can control a pass and bring it down out of the air. It's just the final part of putting the ball into the box where he absolutely fails for me.

Should be sold in the summer, as he’s probably one of about 4 players worth more than a packet of quavers. Apparently we’ve agreed a deal for Quenda, if we can get 20-25 for him then happy days.

Yet today he did exactly that, crossed in to the box perfectly for Bruno to score

A right back being asked to play as a left wing back and we judge him.

He is quite good if played as a right back.

I'm not mad about him being in the team at all, but at LWB he is a real problem. He always cut's in or turns back, he offers nothing because he's too right footed to play there.

Quality control
I have been saying for a while that is Diogo Dogshite Dalot and needs to be moved on asap.

No he’s not, he’s just as bad. He looks the part, and flatters to deceive but if you actually watch him play, he can’t cross, he can’t shoot, he’s nothing special and one v one defending, he gets caught out of position a lot. He is just terrible.

Was more of a cutback than a cross, wasn't it?

If he is, he hasn't shown it. He was good in one season out of a couple. And this good doesn't really include his attacking abilities because for ETH he was asked to invert to the midfield often. Lets not make the same mistake as with Shaw. There is no point telling ourselves that we have good fullbacks when they absolutely don't contribute to attacks. It is a vital part of the job description, there is no point judging it but excluding this piece.

He did pretty well against Traore/Iwobi defensively but offered absolutely nothing in attack.
And he got done admirably by Sessegnon in his first scene. He either is able to add to his attacking skillset or he should be sold as long as people still think there is potential in there. He certainly isn't hopeless but he isn't a complete fullback in my eyes so it needs a specific setup to maximize him.

Surprised he scored his penalty and didn't put the ball into low earth orbit.

Would take a 6 pack Corona for him in the summer.

Square plugs, round holes etc. +1 that he'd be fine as a RB in a back four. Bellwether for how much the 5-3-2 is backed this summer.

He was better today. You can't deny that he tries his best, he's just not a WB.

And yeah, good assist.

Better than Mazraoui today but still not good enough. Nailed on starter simply because we have zero options like most of our starters sadly.

Same as Nani was the best player we had on the right but the only person who could play on the left as well and had to go and cover there where he wasn't as good.

Then everyone including SAF thought he wasn't great and sold him. They seemed to forget it wasn't his position.

SAF didn't sell Nani, LVG did?

He's just as poor on the right and he reminded those with short memories when he started on the right against Ipswich. I know, I know, he played right wing back. In any position he plays we're treated with the same glaring deficiencies

No he is just as bad as a RB or RWB. Can't count the times we conceded because of his terrible decision making or not marking his man, as well as his stupid long shots towards the crowd. A player with good energy and work rate but with a brain of a pigeon.

He’s a classic back 4 fullback being asked to play a role he’s clearly not comfortable or capable of playing well. Like many of the players here, we should be playing him ina potion that suits them selling him in the summer. I feel sorry for Dalot as he works his socks off and a great trainer apparently. If we sell him we will regret it when we revert to a back 4 coach.

He was rubbish in a back 4 too. No need to over-complicate it, he's simply not good enough.

He is not good enough and never will be. I anticipate he will get a new contract shortly.

Was one of our best players against Fulham, granted we were a poor bunch. Good cross for Bruno to score and scored his penalty.

I'll admit I was concerned when he was stepping up to take it, but he had no such concerns and took it well.

Ok. But we sold someone that was playing out of position and got a reputation for being poor, they just happened to be the best player that we had on either side of the pitch, but not great in the position they were playing.

Contrary to public opinion I agree with you. He's good enough to play right back and can offer cover in more than position.
