Was watching with a Liverpool supporting mate who said he had a good game and I thought he played pretty well too, our entire defence did.

Ridiculous red card.

Ridiculous red card but I think he's bang average. Blind passes again, overhit or poor crossing. Defensively fine but when you have AWB as the alternative he's not offering anything cutting edge.

He did well today. I noticed he twice stepped into mf to receive off of the GK and looked far more comfortable than anyone else in that position

One of the few players in our squad who is a match both physically and technically to some of the best in the league in his position.

Makes some stupid decisions but he’s one of our few players with the composure and physicality to keep the ball in games like this.

I hope you are being facetious….. he was generally appalling as usual, I don’t know why EtH persists with him.

What did he do that was appalling? I can remember a bad cross from at set piece just before half time, and then of course the sending off, which I don’t really blame him for.

Maybe no MOTM, but calling him appalling seems way over the top for me.

Appalling? Thought he defended really well
Hes not very good. Not bad today, but defensively if anything I felt he was the weakest of the 4. For example he got some props for tackling Diaz on a dangerous move, but diaz got the ball in the first place because Dalot decided to randomly double up on another player who was already marked.

Hes not a very clever footballer but he works hard. He's really shite in his crosses and he needs to cut out blindly passing it into areas where he hopes there's a player.

Im a big AWB fan but credit where it’s due I thought he helped hold a compact solid defence today

Played well today and burst out from the back a few times. Absolutely ridiculous to get two yellows for that and everyone who watched the game knows that.

Yeah in the context of today I don't want to really shit on him. I just think we won't transcend out style in playing out from the back with him as part of it. Licha, Varane and Shaw are the types who give me comfort but Dalot has some moments of weird passing in him.

Solid game today. Good technically and physically. Played fullback but showed the likes of McTominay how to receive a ball in midfield with your back to gaol.

feck Oliver!

He did well tonight, not a bad word to say about his performance

Dalot has everything needed to be a top, top fullback and I'll never stop saying that. Didn't give Diaz a sniff today and made life very difficult for Tsimikas as well. He's quick, strong, good aerially, good technique and comfortable with both feet.

He has all it takes to be a high impact fullback. But he needs to sort out the mental part. Too often he overhits his crosses or plays a terrible pass that destabilizes the backline. He's capable of some very high level performances though and i genuinely think that whoever we're potentially going to bring to replace him won't be worth it. Not because he's world class no, but the financial outlay won't be worth the supposed upgrade. Work on Dalot and he can be top class.

3-4 iffy decision making and poor passes but all in all, another typical 'good' Dalot performance for me.

Underrated athlete, important interceptions and probably got on the ball more than most of our players. Twice received a ball from Onana in the middle of the park with a player on his back and turned in one motion to then open up the pitch. We need more of these players, who are comfortable to receive under pressure and play.
Completely agree.

He demonstrated a very high level of technical quality in the game by resisting the Liverpool high pressure from midfield. We had a extra midfielder centrally today due to having Mainoo, Amrabat and Dalot as midfield options, and that made a difference imo. Dalot imo is among our best players at resisting pressure from midfield.

The system wasn't different today, but rather what was different, was that the personnel we had playing today gave us a identify from back to front due to doing the bare minimum out of possession and also having the attributes in possession to make a difference, which caused Liverpool problems due to the extra composure on offer compared to last season's drubbing. Mainoo occupied Bruno's role, but played the role differently due to being a more natural midfield player. Mainoo starts low and goes high, and Bruno starts high and comes low into midfield. Mainoo starting low and going high meant Dalot inverted into midfield, and that gave us a solid central base in a low/mid-block setup, which Liverpool found very difficult to breach.

We could've still lost the game and on another day could've even nicked a result due to the chances that fell our way. But to build/develop a team requires all the players to do the bare minimum for the team. And if you have that commitment, then you will build strong foundations to add to.

Had an excellent game, and the red was unfair. But he should still be wiser.
He wasn’t excellent by any stretch . Brainless free kick that went straight out of play at the end of the 1st half. Crossed it straight at Alisson in the 2nd half where if he looked up he would have seen both McTominay and Hojlund just needed it put between GK and defender

Weirdly underrated on here, he’s brilliant physically and technically. Has a brain fart in him but the type of player that will iron those out and just get better and better with experience.
AWB’s profile is so specialist he’s always going to limit us, this guys an all rounder.

He was very good today, though I don't think we see this performance often enough, and personally I prefer AWB... If only we had 2 players like this for every position.

Yeah it was a good, solid performance. The most annoying thing (ok, one of the most annoying things!) about the sending off was that it overshadowed a really excellent bit of defending. Sensational recovery pace and did superbly to win a throw in. And then Oliver got involved…

Standards are on the floor here.

He isn’t an Irwin or an Evra, he isn’t a Neville, he’s not even a Rafa DaSilva.

He’s not good enough to be a Man Utd full back. Period.

100%. Whenever someone states how good he is, this is the lens they need to be using.

Neville and Irwin would walk into this team and out perform both of our FB for every stat on the stat wheel

I thought he was brilliant, defended well, high energy, tried to invert a few times. Would he be first choice for a top side, maybe not, but at least right here and right now, he is showing some heart compared to others.

Could he be our Walker? Dalot is extremely fast. Just look at how easily he outpaced Salah prior to the idiotic red.

Have Dalot play as a defensive fullback who is there to create space for others, tuck into midfield or whatever, but mainly to stay back to prevent counters. Contribute in attack when needed of course. He’s one of few fullbacks who regularly takes on his man and is able to get a ball in. Too bad about the poor final ball and decision making.
