He only started to play Varane ahead of Pepe when his relation with the players deteriorated, same thing when he replaced Casillas with Diego Lopez.

Nope. His relationship with Pepe started deteriorating when he started playing Varane.

Its the same thing I said, and no he didn't started to play Varane because it was a technical option, as he isn't going to start with Dalot when the season starts.

Looks like he's chosen his clique.

Ah OK. Still we've gone from having defenders injured with the club to defenders getting injured before they've even signed with us. Fred also got injured at the Brazil camp. The seasons not even begun yet!!
I obviously don't have full knowledge but it could have been an impact injury that isn't too serious. Even if there are possible long term issues the club could decided to go for it anyway and the upside might out weigh the downside. Either way we knew about the injury before we went for him so I'd be confident the club know what they're dealing with.

I get you, injury prone defenders is an issue but this was more of a case of we didn't want to lose the chance of signing him so we went for him regardless. Mourinho said he'll be back in training after pre-season but probably won't be ready to play until September so it's not that bad.

How did he pass the medical?

There is no 'pass' or 'fail' mark for medicals, this isn't FM where if a player has a serious injury, he can't be signed.

Medicals are purely fitness assessments of a player conducted by the clubs own doctors, it is up to them to assess the seriousness of any pre-existing injury and how this could affect the players career and performance going forward, i.e. due they have chronic knee problems.

United doctors were obviously satisfied that whatever knee injury Dalot has, he'll fully recover and it won't present him any further problems going forward.

What was the injury? By the time he comes back it would have been quite a while since he picked it up.

Why’s he travelled out to LA if he’s injured?

To know his teammates better i guess, be part of the group, stuff like that. He is a young guy, in a brand new world. Everything to get him better acclimatized should be a good thing.

Slightly confused because he seems to be training.

He seems to train with Romero who is known also carrying an injury. I guess it's rehab program aka light exercise. The others as video shows train separately by our main coaching staffs.

If Dalot starts ten games this season, I’ll be very surprised.

From Joel Pereira's Instagram story. Might be back sooner than we think?

So I’ve just realised Romero has taken #16. An important number here. What’s that about?

He hasn't kicked a ball this season and I can already tell he's going to be one of my favourites.

Is that confirmed? I thought he'd take 22 as he wanted it originally.

Upon joining the club, Romero was given the number 20 shirt, saying: "There was a misunderstanding between myself and the manager, Van Gaal. He asked me what squad number I wanted, and I said 22. But he must have thought I'd said 21 because he told me if I wanted that number, I would have to go and speak with Ander Herrera. Anyway, it turned out Nick Powell had recently changed to 22, so I just said that no.20 would do fine."

So far, Mourinho has been honest when it comes to medical team assess of players returning from injury. All Rojo, Young, Zlatan all back no sooner than what You informed the public. Dalot seems to be able to recover from the rehab and ready to do more hard training, but from here until gaining match sharpness may take time.

I remember when Jose spoke of Dalot’s injury. I’m sure he said ‘he will not be involved until we get back to Manchester, and should be ready by September’. I didn’t read that as him saying he won’t kick a ball until September. He may feature sooner to begin his own pre-season.

Dalot has started to train with the ball but with all those training video out there, he's still on individual training route which suggests he's yet ready for harder training, then training involving physical contact. Mourinho pretty said the same about being ready for Young, Rojo and Zlatan case last season, and it was in point

He's already training I believe, they showed him kicking a ball on the pre season tour.
