Did we sell anyone? Big summer fire sale (supposedly)

There’s also the confusion I read more and more here that the deepest midfielder is a de facto a defensive midfielder.

But it’s clear from the De Jong saga, the rumors about Amrabat and the way Mainoo plays during this pre-season that Ten Hag actually wants his deepest midfielder to be a Carrick/Busquets/Pirlo type, ie a player capable to retain possession, recycle the ball and play high volume passes.
I think, you are very right. Issue still being that if the deepest midfielder isn't the one who will do the ballwinning part, then somebody else in midfield will have to do it. Neither Bruno nor Mount are good in that aspect (even though they are clearly putting effort in). Don't know if I am worried for nothing but the time without an actual ballwinner really left some scars. The effect that Casemiro brought, was so obvious, yet we seem to not care for anything like a backup.

If the club can sell ;
H Maguire - £30m
S Mctominay - £40m
Fred - £15m
E Bailey - £5m

DVB - Loan obligation to buy £8.5m
D Henderson-Loan Obligation to buy £20m
M Jurado - £1m
N Bishop - £0.5m

Added to A Elanga, C Savage, Z IQbal, E Laird, T Chong(All Academy) - £19m
Plus A Telles £6m

This would mean we that we would have sold £60m from our academy as net profit increasing transfer budget by £200m easily. Add that to Maguire, Fred and E Bailey raising actually cash and clearing the wages. Giving us another £75m cash, personally I don’t see Scott leaving but all the rest will go. I can the club Loaning out Kovar, F Pellistri , D Gore and maybe Hanibal going on loan this season

New Incomings ;
Goalkeeper - A Onana £43m
CB - B Pavard - £30m
CM - S Amrabat - £25m
AM - M Mount - £55m
R Hojlund - £57m

Wildcard - J Felix(Loan), M Kudas - £40m
I can see the club spending £250m this summer after briefing press they had £120m budget.

It’s all gone suspiciously quiet on selling front: Fred, Bailly, Henderson were strong rumours at least and could generate maybe 35m combined sales revenue

Yeah need sales to get Amrabat

So what are the current state of the rumours on outgoings, what's happening? From what I've read this summer, these names are the ones that's been rumoured to leave and the ones where the majority of us consider we can see them leave without us being weaker...

De Bek: Sociedad - Loan?
Maguire: West Ham - Bid to low?
McT: West Ham - Bid to low?
Fred: Fulham, Saudi - ?
Williams: Nothing?
Henderson: Nottingham - Loan?
Bailly: Saudi - ?
Martial: Nothing?

Will we get rid of any of these by the end of the window?

Bailly will defo go but for peanuts and I reckon Henderson will eventually go Forest but otherwise seems very quiet.

The lack of Fred movement is annoying me because want to get Amrabat in before that Spurs game on 19 August but looks unlikely

Still think we can't let Martial go and go into a season with one striker who's 20 and new to the league (Rashford is best off the left and can't hold the ball up).

We won't let all of fred, mct and vdb go, we'd have no midfield cover.

I'm pretty sure fred, bailly and henderson will go. Hopefully maguire, williams too. That woul be a great summer clearout.

Thought we might get a backup ST

We have so many players who don’t play and we can’t give enough games to play them back into any sort of valuable commodity again so we have to finally bite the bullet and take the hit. As has been said many times , it’s mostly our own fault for handing out horrible contracts to players who had proved very little in most cases. Our erratic approach in the market has also come back to haunt us. I feel like we are slowly letting players leave if they’ve lost their value. A year ago we’d never have let DDG go, we were offering Pogba a new deal… it seems like someone competent is finally making logical footballing decisions at last

Yeah Woody & Judge are fully responsible for the problems with giving out ridiculous contracts

Can't see Martial going anywhere as he's injured, and can't see Fred, McT AND VdB leaving. My money would be on Fred and VdB leaving, and McT staying unless someone offers c.£40m. Williams has been linked to Leeds, think Bailly will end up somewhere like Saudi, and wouldn't be surprised if Maguire is a deadline day departure - either on loan, or permanently but with us paying some of his lost wages

I suspect most of the outgoings will happen after this weekend. We needed to keep the squad beefed up for the pre season games but once they've been completed, then he can allow the players to leave.

VDB Maguire Henderson and Fred sales and I'm happy this window

With the Saudis trying to sign so many players, I'm just surprised that we have yet to offload any of our deadwoods to them. As of now I'm still hoping we can sell Martial, Fred, Maguire, Bailly to fund new purchases.

Looks like Fred is the most concrete to depart but beyond that it will be difficult.

Maguire - he doesn’t want to leave, believes he can turn it around. Possibly late late on loan with an option maybe or he may hang around until Jan?

Martial - he won’t leave - 1 more year nobody going to risk on him.

Donny VdBeek - loan with an option possibly after nasty injury. Talk of Sociadad but not sure in their financial position.

McTominay - if ETH is prepared to let him go then he could generate the most. Has West Ham/Fulham all over him. Doubt he would go willingly.

Baily - free only if we can get rid.

Cant see us being able to generate any significant funds to buy anymore players.

I agree, unfortunately. McTominay and Maguire would at least contribute some backup minutes to a lesser extent if they stay. All others would basically be completely useless/unused and we should take any income possible.
My dream would be: West Ham to take McT for big money (40+) and Maguire for 20-25.
Gala take Fred for bargain, Baily leaves on a free. vdB on loan to Spain (sell would be better but very unlikely).
Martial late by Saudis, also very unlikely

Ok, Nathan Bishop sold today. I hope we got at least 1m for him

Feel like we could have got decent money for him to Saudi this summer. Highly marketable player and muslim, Kante is getting a silly contract and he isn't half as marketable as Pogba is.

Has there been any indication Saudis are in for Pogba though? Juventus would gladly let him go, at least it seems that way from the outside, if they were offered any kind of decent transfer fee,

And endure a season's worth of underwhelming performances, him sitting out games through injury and the occasional passive aggressive comments on the club when he's doing press conferences and interviews while on NT duty?

No thanks.

Just saw that West Ham are the only team not to have signed anyone this summer even though they have all that Rice money.

Surely they’ll come back with a bigger offer for Maguire?

Fred or McTominay would be good signings for them too.

Fingers crossed

Imagine getting a huge windfall on Rice and spending it on those three. They'll get relegated.

No they won't, they'll probably be better for it.

It would be a bad way to spend their money. In my opinion they need to go all out for Palhinha if possible. McTominay can't do what Rice did and doesn't even play the same role. Maguire they may be able to make it work. But a pairing of Fred and McTominay is a calamity.

Alternatively they should take a leaf out of Brightons book and invest that money in players that can grow in reputation and increase in value. Those three are dead money and won't ever have any resale value. There's nothing wrong with becoming a stepping stone club if you're finishing where West Ham did last season, reaping the benefits of players that are getting better and improving your team, even if they are eventually sold a few years down the line. Two or three smart signings like Brighton make and within a few years you can invest in better players and improve the team that way. The plan of buying middling players in their late 20s isn't getting you anywhere.

Week´s nearly over. Literally no new approaches for Martial, Maguire, VDB, Fred, McT, Bailly, Henderson? :/

For Williams and Kovar either. The only news was about fresh interest in Hannibal
