Di Marzio: Barca make bid for Pogba

Yup. Rumours are that this started when Sanchez signed. Pogba wants parity with the highest paid player at the club. If he proves himself, I'd give it to him next summer along with the captaincy.

Sanchez is on a ridiculous salary and essentially came on a free and its a different circumstance - while he hasn't performed at United, he's had multiple world class seasons in the Premier League. Pogba is yet to have one.

I wonder if Barca know they've no chance this window and this is a very public declaration of interest?

The offer of 50M + Andre + Mina is NOT real

Gerard Romero is supposedly a reliable sources when it comes to Barcelona transfers

Sigh.. Sometimes I really envy PSG, their owner is so rich and strong that he can force/threaten player to never leave the club (veratti).

So apparently this guy is reliable for Barcelona and he's stating that the reported offer is not true.

Di Marzio has gotten things wrong for Barcelona before.

Di Marzio's connection with this would be Raiola. Di Marzio saying what Raiola told him while Romero is saying what he's been told from the Barca board.

I would sell him if he wants out and if we can get a good replacement on time. Even if Glazers are penny pinching, selling Pogba alone can solve almost all our problems without spending a lot of money. Also his agent is Riola, means that he is not going to stay with us for long unless we are willing to improve his contract in every 2 years.

Realistically speaking, his price should be around 150-200 million depending on how desperately Barcelona need him. I would be happy with a Dembele (if Jose likes him) + Rakitic/Umtiti + cash deal. We could also demand around 180 million and buy Kovacic or Thiago for around 60M and use the remaining amount + some cash and buy CB (Toby - 50M), Winger (Perisic - 50M) and LB (Sandro -50M).

Having said that, I think Riola is trying to get an improved contract for Pogba using the Barcelona interest on him. This was bound to happen ever since Pogba became the second best paid player in the club after the arrival of Sanchez.

If that's true we should tell them to forget our number too. They must think we're idiots or something.

If true, someone from the club should highlight the ridiculousness of the bid.

And put Evra and Raiola in a room together for thirty minutes.

If I were Pogba Id look at that offer and feel seriously undervalued. Hes worth Messi and £50 mil.
Only if he is ridiculously stupid.
Wenger bid 40M plus 1 pound for Suarez. Did not see Suarez crying his heart out about being undervalued in the market

Sources tell me United are holding out for 45mil only.

Pogba strikes me as very impressionable, especially if he's working with a strong minded agent who is constantly proposing things to him. Raiola strikes me as a snake who will try to get his players to move as often as possible so he can collect his portion of the transfer fees. Not a good combination.
Don't know about the former but about the latter I have no doubt. Regardless, I don't see Pogba parting ways with his agent which is why I would support selling Pogba if we take Barca to the cleaners or keeping him if no suitable offer arrives even if he's unhappy to avoid setting a precedent.
I get what you are saying but that's not Pogba's value, he isn't that good, you wouldn't purchase him for that price, you probably wouldn't do it for 110m. As for Neymar we need to remember that it's not a negotiated fee, Mbappé would be a better example but PSG are crazy.
The fact that Mina's value (according to the numbers being touted) has tripled or quadrupled ONLY due to his WC performance despite being a bench warmer at Barca should tell you what the market is like. And compared to Mina, Pogba has won the WC
His talent is without question, and his performance at the world cup was top draw.

Pogba's last top class season in club football was 3 seasons ago. You can have all the talent in the world, but he's been a good PL midfielder - nothing extraordinary. 200 million would be utter madness. If he does go, 100-125 million is more realistic.
You are completely ignoring the WC which tends to inflate prices. Look at Mina's value which has tripled or quadrupled for a few great performances despite being a bench warmer at his club. Pogba, meanwhile, played a pivotal role in a side that won the WC and yet you say his value is in the lower 100's. Biased and blind much?

Right after He's just won the World Cup? 250 millions or go home.

Not sure how true it is but been hearing rumors of us trying to rush through a bid for Milinkovic-Savic for 130m. At this late stage, it does not make any sense but the owners may feel that Pogba coming back from the World Cup after winning it, would command a fee that wouldn't get any higher. Could Savic be his replacement?

Either way, I wouldn't want to lose Pogba.

Bet Barcelona negotiators think they're brilliant for making this bid whilst in reality they look like novices.

Also watch how the opposition fans suddenly start rating Pogba.

They've been rating him since he won the WC, saying Mourinho is playing him wrong, he's shite for United etc

This story reeks of "Give me a new contract after I won the World Cup". The Barcelona rumor has to be a wind-up.

I'll say it: Pogba is too good for the current iteration of United. And it absolutely breaks my heart, but if we're honest, it's true.
He's not too good if He cannot be arsed to give all the things He has for United, like He did for France. De Gea is too good for current ManUnited, not Pogba.

If the bid is true, then it really is a prime opportunity for the club to highlight this.

Also some might subscribe to the say-nothing-and-you-look-weak school of thought and they probably wouldn't be too far wrong.

Bingo. (Borderline on the DDG)

They can have Martial in straight swap with Dembele.

Given the prices going around, Pogba is worth 200mil.

You got it right. In which case, it could be face saving by Barca after we turned down the offer.

The cheek of offering Gomes and Mina with a paltry fee. Then again, we have only ourselves to blame for not getting our house in order for 4 years. If we were run competently, we wouldn't be considered as sitting ducks by European powerhouses.

Shaw and Rojo + 30m for Dembele
Jones and Darmian + 20m for Umtiti

I'd completely lose it we sold Pogba. If Barca had offered Dembele and cash, atleast that would have been a reasonable offer (which we should still refuse).

We should do to them, what PSG did last year, when Barca started sniffing around Verratti.
Messi is coming lads, well done Woody.

Dembele plus money for Pogba. Use the money to buy Kovacic. Everyone's happy.
I wouldn't swap Pogba for Dembele + Kovacic. They still have a long way to go to realise their potential. Both players are not regular starters for club and country.

Its only a matter of time before we start being picked upon by clubs who are actually successful. That's why we need to invest heavily to return were we belong to.

Oh well don't worry. If Pogba leaves I am sure we can find someone from the Ukrainian league to replace him

Dembele especially is overrated by those who have only watched his YouTube videos and the occasional dortmund game from 2 seasons ago. I'm honestly not even sure he's better than Martial. He's certainly a dumber player

Why all the outrage? Nothing despicably cnuty about the total value offered.

Obviously we’re not going to accept (and neither should we,) but we now know that Barca’s starting point is around 100 mill, valuing what both Gomes & Mina will fetch in this current market.

If he does go it’ll be for somewhere between Coutinho & Mbappe money. 120’ish upfront with a bunch of add-ons.

It is despicable if true, but nothing new regarding Madrid and Barca. We are not an Alaves or Rajo Vallecano. The club has more than enough money, so that part of the deal is particularly funny. Either they send us a proper offer, or they don't send us a shit

We're discussing a player who took a year to settle upon his return, and found the massive transfer fee very heavy. Then last season was carrying an injury... A world class talent, but yet to show it in red. The lateness of the bid would suggest he wasn't even Barca's first choice.

And this is the danger with Raiola. Probably angling for a pay raise for his boy.
