Television Dexter

I hope the next season is the last one and it's about Debra suspecting Dexter.

This every season new serial killer has become a bit shit.

The quality of the writing has really taken a downturn in the last 2 seasons. The amount of plot holes with Dexter's kills is going from bad to absurd. They have definitely taken a conscious decision to dumb down the show to appeal to a mass audience, one which it definitely has.

At this point, I have decided that there is no point in over-analyzing Dexter anymore. I am enjoying it as an entertaining TV show - which it still is despite its many flaws. It definitely doesn't belong anywhere close to the pedestal of the Wire, Sopranos etc anymore, but its still thoroughly watchable. That said I still do hope that they wind it up in another season.

Fantastic episode.

At last we're getting somewhere with Doomsday. I'm still not convinced Gellar is real, Dexter didn't see him and he can't just have vanished from the Church.

There was a parallel in the episode between Travis & his sister and Dexter & Debra - both sisters being isolated from the brothers and more importantly the possibility that the brother kills his sister. I still think there is a possibility that Debra dies at the end of the season, I reckon she will be the final death in the Doomsday killings.

LaGuerta was clearly protecting someone in the prostitute's death, I think it might be the police chief who was in the room with her.

There were endless plotholes im the first few seasons, especially in Dexters killings, despite how careful they made him out to be, that is nothing new. It's never been on the same level as the best, because it relies heavily on its gimmick. Still obviously a lot of fun like 24 and others heavily reliant on a gimmick and having solid writing at least with a strong lead.

Anyway onto last nights ep

They seem to be making it so obvious that Geller is fake, or well Travis' dark passenger that he should be real at this point.....but then again, they made it so obvious something would happen at the end of season 5 with Deb or even Quinn finding something on Dexter....then what happened, oh yeah nothing. So you never know with these crazy writers

Was Dexter's car gone at the end when he looked outside? I like everyone else feel he is a fake. Yes you could say shit like how did he get chained up or knocked out and then his sister be dead? But then again in last weeks episode it was Rudy who stabbed that guy with the pitch fork? I think its quite possible those watching it like us have figured it out or its just gonna be madness in the last episode. Im hoping its the latter of course

The plot holes, they burn!

Seriously, how the feck did Travis/Gellar openly place that 'whore of babylon' crime scene in the middle of a school playground in broad daylight without anyone seeing. It obviously would have taken a while from the looks of it so you'd think someone would have noticed something a little odd.

much better this week. Not brilliant but better.

I think that they were trying to do a big shock of Gellar being Travis's version of Harry but they must of underestimated the internet folks who poke through each episode as I'm sure everyone knows now. The run in of the last few episodes of Dexter every year are good so I am presuming this will be good too. Maybe Deb but more likely Quinn will be kicking the Bucket. I wouldn't mind if they offed Laguerta as she is annoying whenever she shows up.

Now off to watch walking dead.

I keep hoping that they make the Gellar reveal soon now because its a 'twist' that people picked up in Ep 1 and if that's going to be the big season finale, its going to suck donkey balls.
I thought this episode was pretty bad, the show needs new writers if its going to be remotely interesting over the next 2 season which it has been signed up for.

Also, does the weird-orgasm-laughing-when-crying-face that Debra constantly makes count as acting? Genuine question.

maybe we are supposed to think Gellar is Travis's dark passenger? He walked out of sight as Travis looked up so by the time Dexter looked up he'd vanished. I'm thinking maybe Debra is going to end up in one of the tableaus like Travis's sister

It always had plot holes and weakish writing, they made Doakes do something particularly dumb in season 2, but they also create stories containing great tension, though not so much this season as Dexter secret is not under threat of being exposed

I haven't seen this ep yet, but I bet the 'twist' is what I called a few pages back.

Oh yeah, who da man. I da man. Oh yeahhhhh

I wouldn't call it a twist tbf, everyone knew, and by "confirming" this early from the end, I think thats what the writers intended.

Probably have Deb finding out as the real big thing for the season tbh. That HAS to happen, they can't promote her, go through all this crap shes going through now for her not to find out for anothing year, that'd be insane.

The twist was obvious for a few weeks. I think Debra's shrink might start suspecting Dexter of not being who Debra thinks he is which could be interesting.

I was right about Matthews being the guy who is trying to cover up the girl's death
How many episodes left this season?

Where exactly is that storyline meant to be heading anyway? I don't see the point of it yet.

There's usually 14 episodes so 5 left I think.

So wait

In the, what... minute and a half that Dexter was stuck in the lift, Travis ran up the stairs, killed the Professor, dragged his body to the lecture hall, cut open his stomach, put all his blood up in the ceiling, sewed him back up in the omega pattern, tidied himself up, ran back to the lift, broke the glass, got the axe and opened the doors for Dexter?

Also

Twist was obvious of course. They need something big to happen I think. Not sure where the Lewis thing is going after it showed he has the hand. Also it's just retarded that Miami Metro has to rely on an intern to realise they can track an IP. Everyone's just like 'derp well the blog won't help'. The whole department are retarded.

He probably gave him a knock on the head, maybe killed him. Hid him somewhere and then returned after Dexter left the motel. Dexter woulda noticed a severed hand hiding down travis's pants or the blood dripping down his leg.

This must be the year when deb finds out, whats with the IT Nerd and the ice truck hand and his loving on Dexter something off going on there too.

I didn't watch that closely, but he probably did all this after they came.

Thought that was a good episode.

What do people reckon's going to happen with the intern?

I think the intern will end up killing Batista's sister so to set-up a 'shock' ending for this season similar to season 4. It seems a bit random they've decided to introduce him as a possible villain this late into the season.

Although I'd love it if he ends up killing Quinn.

Annoys me a tiny bit they ended up making him a bad guy. Seems to me that they're just trying to cramp as much suspense as possible together.

Probably setting up the intern to be another villain and kill Jamie. I'm glad they didn't drag out Travis' dark passenger til the last episode. It will be much more fun to watch now Dexter knows the truth

That you called, it was all over the net.

Took him out and hid the body, I though it implied he went and did it after him and Dexter returned. The whole suddenly waking up thing.

Yeah that's what I was sort of thinking, though
I was only really thinking about how Travis killed the Professor and hid him as he didn't need to do the stuff in the lecture theatre until later on.
Stephen's explanation for that is good:

He probably gave him a knock on the head, maybe killed him. Hid him somewhere and then returned after Dexter left the motel. Dexter woulda noticed a severed hand hiding down travis's pants or the blood dripping down his leg.

No idea about the hand. Can't see him killing Jamie though like the others are thinking. He'll probably be the one most likely to find out about Dexter (if he doesn't already know).

I read an interview the other day and it talked about there being a three year story arc so I can see this - or the ramifications - going into the next couple of seasons so I'd be surprised if Debs finds out at the end of this season but it looks like things are building up to that with the psychiatrist

I have read the post on the last episode and no one is saying the right thing about..
The hand in the intern's house. Masuka told him he just wanted the hand to disappear right? So he just went and bought it, maybe study it and use it in his video games, I don't see the intern as a threat at all. He is part of the story someone how though.

Now here is my take on what may happen. I think Dexter now will be working for Deb to make her look good especially with Deb's new attitude towards him, he may try to pacify her and probably she might get to learn the truth about Dexter but the truth may not be that Dexter kills people but he uses his time to look for criminals in an effort to help the police and I am sure by season end, Deb and Dex will be working together and may even kill some bad ass together.

With the intern, I think it's clear (or is implied) that the intern had the hand all along - ever since that first intern Ryan put the hand on the auction site and that he didn't just buy it since Masuka told him he wanted the hand to disappear. There's something more to the intern than him just studying to use it in his video games but I'm not sure what.

sorry Solius but it's too funny
