The grind is brutal on this once you get to level 24/25. To level up your legendary gear, you need something called Ascendant shards, which are rare. Best way to get them is to do public events. How some people are at level 28 I don't know.
You still get Vanguard and Crucible marks, but all the rep goes to the faction (as long as you have the specific class item equipped).
This daily heroic is just the worst. My gear doesn't help either.

not sure I see the longevity in the game really, doing that shit every day, though it's definitely better with a group than alone.
Must have had better stuff then me, got few better weapons but only 3/4 way through level 20.

Ah you're afrodubs! I noticed you were surviving longer than me anyway, definitely need to catch up gear wise. I was getting decimated, the knights were basically one shotting me.
Same!! It pisses me off! Desperately need leg armour or chest armour that has 15 light or more and keep on getting greens when I hand them in!!!!

We need to gear up desperately for that weekly strike! Level 25, 23, 21 didn't cut it!!
So 3 teams (maybe more in the last hour?) have beaten all 4 of the Vault of Glass bosses on normal mode (lvl 26). One group just beat the last boss again and got new drops because they joined someone who was at the boss already and helped him complete it.
I believe the first team to beat it took 12 hours. The 2nd team took 13 hours something
With the strats out and teams completing it in the first day, the times will come down a lot from that. Expect the teams who have already completed it to do it in 3 or 4 hours or so next time

What level do I have to be to reach this point? I'm only 6 and at the moon currently, so I'm assuming still a long way off
Also what are these blue things and light that everyone is talking about? From the sounds of it at a certain point you need more than just exp from killing things to progress up the levels?
Blues = "Rare" armour. The best consistant gear you can get from drops. The purple "legendaries" you get from good luck or from spending vanguard and crucible marks from doing that content
At level 20 you no longer level up from exp. Instead for every level you would have got from the exp, you get a "mote of light" which can be spent at The Speaker or the Agent of the Nine vendor that comes on Fridays
Instead you have to get armour drops or spend marks on gear with +light on it. At a certain amount of light you are awarded level 21, 22, etc up to 28 I believe is the max so far.
But the level is based on that armour you are wearing. If you take off the armour with +15 light or whatever, that took you to "level 21" then you'll be level 20 again. So the idea is to get better armour and upgrade it.
I believe this is probably so that people can start playing later on and they can catch up. They'll have to level to 20, but in 3 months they'll probably have added easier ways to get gear or new gear that you can get to catch you up on light. That way the game will feel more accessible to people who werent playing from the start

You should still get it. The mail guy in the tower gets any blues or higher that you miss picking up. At least that's what one of the twitch streamer guys said when farming on Venus.

Cool. I just wish I had more time to play. With a 6 month old baby in the house though, opportunities are few and far between.
