Gaming Destiny | Rise of Iron launch

Does anybody know if the patrol on Venus can be completed, or do the missions just keep respawning?

Glad I cancelled my pre order. Had a funny feeling it would be a bit of a flop. Anyone think developing for last gen consoles held back what it could / should have been?

I think it's great.

Ah ok, I only though you needed + for a few destiny missions. Ill bare that in mind for future games
You've lost me! I was asking you a question - not making a statement.

You're right that the only downside I've noticed of playing Destiny without PS+ is that I've been unable to do the last mission on Earth and the moon (presumably last mission on each planet is for PS+ only) and also that I can't join groups. I think PVP may be blocked as well but I've not really tried that. I still see other players running around online though. I'm about to start playing on the 1 month free trial, so we'll see if there are other features that I've been missing out on and not even realised.

Still at 22, a few more light to 23.

At 20 theres quite a bit of grinding the same areas as the rest of the game, but with enemies a lot harder. And tbh thats not a problem for me, I've been doing those missions back to back for a few days

However the loot distribution and more importantly the progression is quite annoying. Its completely random but I found myself getting gloves or helmets that are "rare"/blue but downgrades on what I already have time and again. Because it seems to be a random level between 16 and 20 gear each time.

And a bunch of times you get those cryptogram things that you take to the npc, and it'll be a blue one you picked up suggesting you might get a blue item... And then like 90% of the time its a green item.

In fact for levelling up the crypagraph person I got something in the mail, a purple cryptogram. When he activated it for me, it turned into 3 blue cryptograms. When I activated each of the 3 blue cryptograms it gave me 3 green items.

Fantastic

I got a legendary (purple) crytogram after a pvp round but when i went to the npc i got a rare (blue) helmet which wasnt better than the blue helmet i already had. That kinda sucked...

Otherwise i really like the game and this is only the beginning. It will get even bigger and better in time. I just need to find some people for the heroic weakly strike missions and raids because non of my friends have updated their xbox360 to a xbox one yet.

The way this game give you rewards for crucible play is really stupid. It should be partly based on skill instead of just being random drops. Also, I got my first legendary reward today, I got all excited and it turned out to be a crappy mote of light!

About to do the eye of the gate lord on venus, anybody want to fireteam?

Its also very frustrating trying to get the next tier of weapon. At 22 light, doing the 22 missions dont seem to be getting me any upgraded gear.

But if I do the 24 missions they take forever and I cant finish many kills alone because my weapon is a rare level 17 with the upgraded damage to give it a bit more power, but still not a level 20 weapon. And because of the random loot I can't do anything to guarantee getting a better main weapon, even if my gear is about to hit 23 light.

Everyone seems to be enjoying it

I don't think it's a flop at all

Its a flop considering the hype it had. Not saying it isn't a solid game. Sticking with Diablo for now, though.

Depends how you saw it really doesn't it. I'd never heard of the game two days before I bought it so I've found it to be great. If you hyped it up to silly proportions then it's your own problem I guess. It's not the game's fault that it was hyped. Bit harsh to call it a flop because of that.

Same with me. I hadn't heard of it until reading this thread. Seemed like a game I would enjoy though. Didn't play the Beta either so I had no idea's what to expect.

All in all though its been pretty fun. Its basically a FPS diablo/Warcraft. What's not to enjoy!?!!?.

Summing up the loot at level 20. You get a mote of light for each time you level up after level 20, also sometimes as a reward for an engram

And then this happens

I'm loving this game. I've got a hunter up to level 18 without going past the third moon mission. Mainly by ensuring I keep a full set of bounties with me at all, times. The pvp is great too. You just need to make sure you use your melee attack a lot at low levels.

Blade dancer multi kills are so satisfying.

I get so many kills in the crucible with my throwing knife. It's immensely satisfying.

Loving the Hunter so far, although I'm still only level 7. Cannot wait to get to 15 and try out the Bladedancer looks so fun from videos.

I think it's a great game.

How come my game was populated with randoms when I first started playing it but now it's just me? I feel alone :(

I had one bee error, one beaver and one leopard last night. Hopefully i don't have any when i get on tonight. Think i'll have to find some randoms to group with though since i'm only level 2 still

you don't need to group with people for 90% of leveling, just the strikes.

I used to love throwing knives in Modern Warfare 2, was pretty handy with them too but I keep forgetting to use it in this, I'll have to put in some practise on a patrol map or something to get more familliar with aiming it right.

Worst part of the game hope they fix it.

Play this for the first time today, fairly decent i thought. I can understand if people went into it with massive expectation they would have been let down. Feels very shallow, but game play has been good so far. Half the time I do have no idea what I'm doing, just keep flashing the way point up and running until I find something to kill.

Level 5 now, so may be a while before I catch up with the rest of you and can join in the harder stuff.

That's pretty much how it is at end game too. The story is pretty moot, there's not much variety in the objectives and exploration is pretty much cack on every planet. There's also PVP but its essentially a watered down version of Halo's multiplayer with no matchmaking.

Its just the frantic firefights and the gearing up which makes its so much fun, and thats OK for me since I avoided the hype train.

more variety would be nice, but you get that. I haven't been bored playing yet, so hopefully that continues.

I've found weapon/Armour drops to be rather low. Is there any way to increase that or areas where you can pick up decent weapons quickly. Or is it all luck of the draw?

I wasn't sure if it was just sales patter but the guys in GAME indicated a 10 year plan for Destiny in terms of DLC.

I fell for it, and bought the first expansion scheduled for Dec for an extra £35. I wonder if they will add more depth by adding additional planets. Is anyone close to the end of the current story? I keep forgetting which missions I've done. Ive only done the crucible for last 2 days in an attempt to level up and get some of the rewards which I think are distributed randomly amongst players win or lose?
