The shotty you can get from doing your first nightfall is really slow at shooting but when it does its a knock out blow

Anything good from Xur? Cant go on until later... What defence rating are the armor pieces and all that? Think I should be able to get up to low 280's on my titan, with a good helmet and buying a shell (only 235, dragging me down so much). Also are the prices the same as before? Just strange coins?

Is it random class helmet you get from that? Or do you get the helmet on the class you're using? Since I have my 3 characters should I just switch between them and go to xur or just buy bunch and hope for the best
Random class, and I've mostly got year 1 stuff from that. Got three Obsidian Minds, Helm of Inmost Light and Empyrean Bellicose
Stupid exotic weapon engram from xur. Didn't realise it was just year one weapons and wasted 31 coins on it. Year one weapon came at the old level as well

To be fair Bungie made it very clear that it was a year one only - also the fact they called it a Legacy Engram was another indicator.

Not sure if it might be better for you to trade it in and just get Destiny: The Taken King - Legendary edition for around £39-£49 which has it all

Or if you have a friend who has them, you can set their account as the primary account on your ps4, and then all the content is shared with all the accounts along with him having it on his account on his ps4. My brother bought it and has his account as primary on mine so I get them all for free basically

Steady on there! I only had the base game before TTK came out. I bought the Destiny: The Taken King - Legendary Edition for £40 which has the base game and all expansions in it. Now I can sell my standard copy of Destiny if I want to. It's actually decent value for people who didn't have any of the expansions really.

I'm on 284 light now. Must be the only person with 280+ light not to have a sword. Finding the flakes in loot chests is a drag so I've been doing other missions and stuff while I procrastinate.
I know its apparently much easier with a Nightstalker hunter but not played with that subclass much yet

25 I think. I'm on 6, most of which I got while trying to get the five calcified fragments
I got the 25 flakes in about an hour, max. Just make a circle around the mausoleum area, going into the doors along the sides and then in the fallen cabal ship. They spawn really quickly.
25... If you do it with a group of people you can all split up in the mausoleum and then tell each other when you find one. Doesn't take that long really.
Sounds like I'm going to have to bite the bullet and go back to farming just to get the sword. Bright side is I'm using the nightstalker so finding the chest is far easier.

Just did the fear embraced quest. Has to be one of the most hectic final fights in the game.
290 is recommended light level for the raid

You said you're on 257 light now, right? You should be fine to grind the weekly heroic strikes and get a boatload of engrams from them. I got two legendary engrams from one strike
So I got a bunch of exotics now after using those coins and buying a few. Have 4 helmets on my titan (taikonaut, insurmountable skullfort, empyrean bellicose, helm of inmost light), then have crest of alpha lupi for a chest piece, and then the Jade Rabbit scout rifle for primary (290 attack with a really high impact). Also a chest piece and helmet for warlock (alchemist's raiment and the stag) along with the gauntlets Xur was selling for both hunter and warlock.
